Chaos in party
Shyla’s P.O.V.
"Over my dead body!"
The authority of the Royal tone rippled through my bones as Maddox’s majestic figure appeared before my sight. He walked through the double doors of the hall, dressed in an exquisitely tailored black suit, his open collar look was a feast for everyone’s eyes.
His robust muscles peeking through his shirt made me gulp, the indifference written on his face was like a grave warning for his opponents.
Maddox took long strides, moving gracefully, his regal physique made all the other Alphas look like ants in front of an elephant.
No doubt, my dad had a great authoritative and oppressive personality. But Maddox’s dominance outclassed him, it was a classic sight to watch them under one roof.
My heart forgot to beat as Maddox stopped right in front of me, towering over me with his tall figure. I could hear Ash thrilled howls to see our mate finally, but Maddox’s ablaze eyes made me feel a pit in my stomach, he glared at me from head to toe.
“White dress?
Good!”
He scoffed, balling his fists, his elongated nails dug in his palms to draw blood from the wounds. An involuntary gasp escaped from my mouth as he grasped my arm with his free hand, pulling me closer in a jerk.
“I am still alive, Your Highness Shyla Alford!”
Maddox’s warm palm against my bare arm exploded pleasurable sparks over my skin, melting me under the haze of mate-bond. It was the longest time I stayed away from him after marking, so this reunion erupted chaos in my world.
His piercing gaze bore into mine as he smeared his blood on my white gown, dying it red. Intoxicated by his manly perfume, I was drawn to him like a moth to fire, although he had ruined my gown with his blood. Satisfied by his painting, he let out an approving grunt, breaking my trance.
I couldn’t help but huff.
“You are late!”
Raising my brow, I challenged him. Zeth was pushing his limits to respond to me eagerly. However, my dad’s offended growl destroyed our moment. He pulled me away from Maddox, hiding me behind him.
“How dare you barge into my Palace without my permission, Alpha Miller?
Get out!”
As my mood was now officially ruined after losing a direct contact with Maddox, my mouth turned sour. I then noticed Alpha Magnus and Hayden with my mate.
My vampire buddy wiggled his brows to say ‘Hello’, I was glad to see him here. He was a reasonable person, so in case of any arguments, he could surely subside them with his diplomatic approach.
Anyway, Maddox didn’t pay any heed to my dad’s rudeness and spoke sternly.
“I am here to take my Erasthai back, Alpha Harrison. You can’t keep her locked here.”
“She is at her father’s home!”
My dad snarled at him, “You aren’t her soulmate, Alpha Miller!
Shyla has a mate according to our Werewolf traditions. Your claim holds no importance in our community.”
Maddox chuckled, his cold voice sent shiver down my spine as he said,
“To hell with your presumptuous traditions, Alpha Harrison. After the day you surrendered, there’s no place for your stupid rules in the constitution.
There are clear rules mentioned for interracial relationships in the books.”
My dad’s face lost all its color, becoming chalk-white as Maddox cruelly refreshed his wounds of his last defeat, sneering at him.
“A defeated coward can’t brag about his rules, Alpha Harrison. This is the same spot where you knelt before me and signed a peace treaty.
It won’t take me a single moment to bend you again on my shoes to replay the historical scene of your submission.”
As the saying goes, “A winner takes all!”
Maddox used his words to embarrass my dad in the party, I was at a loss of words to speak up for him. He had lost, losing his rule and family, but this wasn’t good to repeat that event when I had no objections in going back with Maddox.
So, I mind-linked my mate, “Shut it, idiot!
End this argument and come with me. We need to talk.”
“There’ll be no talk!”
Bloody hell!
Prince Edith’s dangerous tone interrupted our link, spinning my world on its axis, I was aghast at this devastating revelation. It turned out that he was connected to our link because of promise mate’s magic. That was also the reason why Maddox didn’t mind-linked me during my stay here.
My lips parted in a silent screech as Edith stood between Maddox and my dad, pointing at my mate.
“Shyla has seen your true face, King Maddox. No matter what you say, the truth is that you sold her and pure concubine to the slave market, insulting the Harrison family’s honor.
You are …”
Maddox retorted back without getting angry, he called off his bluff.
“Save your breath, Prince Edith. I could have taken back my Erasthai without any inconvenience, but busting your ass delayed me.
So, despite my strong army ready to attack your pack, I would like to disclose the truth.”
He looked at me and nodded, allowing Alpha Magnus to speak as he took out an envelope from his coat’s pocket and spoke.
“This is the list of the females sold to the breeder camp after the war. It’s the official record from the master of the market with his signature.”
Maddox was investigating my mom’s case?
Wicked!
His attention to details deeply impressed me, he didn’t go for traditional apologies like others. Instead, he chose to bring facts and figures, giving me closure. I was pleased to see his real efforts for our relationship.
Stretching my hand, I received the envelope and quickly read the papers inside it to look for my mom’s name.
However, Jenifer Alford was missing from the list of thirty women.
Alpha Magnus paused for a moment to let me read, and then proceeded with his statement.
“Madam Jenifer Alford was never a part of the royal harem. Alpha Harrison never married her, despite having intimacy with her.
Only her sister Sophia Alford was the part of Alpha Christopher Harrison’s harem, the father of Price Edith Harrison.
And she wasn’t sold to a breeder camp as her husband had arranged her accommodation outside the Palace during the war.”
What?
My mom wasn’t my dad’s wife?
Oh, my Goddess!
What was going on here?
Did Prince Edith lie to me?
Why couldn’t I catch him?
Alpha Magnus precisely highlighted the negligence of my father as his brother saved my aunt. It was noticeable that there was no evidential support of Prince Edith’s story like Maddox’s investigation.
I heard all the details regarding this matter carefully, jotting down all the main points to understand the truth. After all, I couldn’t be irrational while deciding between right and wrong.
Maddox thanked Alpha Magnus for his report and addressed my dad and Prince Edith.
“You both conspired against me, lying to my Erasthai shamelessly.
Prince Edith is just a bastard. At least, you should show some grace as a pure-blooded Alpha, Alpha Harrison.
How can you stoop so low about your woman like this?”
As Maddox confronted my dad, I waited for his statement. His response was crucial in this whole scenario.
Before my dad could speak, Prince Edith accused Maddox of fabricating lies and forging evidence. He sounded pretty reasonable when he said,
“Your list isn’t a valid proof, King Maddox. You are in power, so forcing a mere slave master to write whatever you want is child’s play for you!”
Fuck!
After this point, my last hope was my dad, only he could clear the thick fog of confusion. However, he reacted violently, throwing a punch in Maddox’s face.
“After snatching everything from me, why can’t you stay out of my life?
You robbed me off my throne, my family, my manhood, turning me into a sorry excuse of existence.
Why are you still adamant on destroying my world once more?”
His voice raised an octave as Maddox dodged his claws easily.
“You are alive for three centuries, ruining every Alpha’s life of Fenrir bloodline. I won’t let you play with my daughter.
Shyla is innocent. Leave her alone!”
The situation escalated pretty quickly as my dad attacked relentlessly, Maddox growled loudly.
“I am not your daughter’s enemy, Alpha Harrison. She is my Erasthai. I love her. She is mine!”
“No!”
Prince Edith swiftly interjected,
“Shyla is mine. You deceived her, taking advantage of her trust.
What else can we expect from a monster like you?
You don’t deserve her!”
My heart raced as Ares couldn’t digest Prince Edith’s words and took over Maddox, breaking his mouth with one blow.
“Screw you, bastard!”
I pleaded with Hayden to act as a moderator, but it was too late. Maddox’s deadly claws landed on my dad’s chest, knocking him down, he roared in his Alpha fury.
“You will rot in hell, rascal!”
Hayden moved with the speed of light and tackled Maddox, Alpha Magnus also helped him. My mate was growling, but his buddies held him away to stop the fight.
Sighing in relief, I glanced at my dad who was still lying on the floor, he should have gotten up until now.
His limp body shook my world as he coughed up blood, washing a wave of terror over me.
I heard Prince Edith screaming,
“Call the ambulance, now!”
