Buried Alive
Luna POV:
Darkness had become my companion, each passing moment drawing me deeper into its suffocating embrace. Hours, maybe even days, had slipped away unnoticed, time had lost all meaning, an elusive specter in this inescapable void.
I'd fought relentlessly, clawing desperately at the rope and the box, put it all proved abortive.
My world had been reduced to the sound of my own labored breaths, each one more agonizing than the last. I was running out of air, and panic had long since given way to a chilling resignation. It became painfully clear that my struggles only hastened the inevitable, my impending death, buried alive. I wonder what I was and what I did in my life before, to deserve this.
With each shallow breath, I lost myself a little more, the world slipping away, my senses dulled by the creeping darkness. I drifted, caught between the realms of the living and the dead.
Then, as if from a distant dream, I saw a blinding light cut through the blackness. A voice called my name, distant yet unmistakable, and I summoned the last bits of my strength to force my eyes open. There, in the radiance, was Gabriel, his face etched with worry and relief as he cradled me in his arms.
"I'm so glad to see you're okay," he said, his voice trembling with emotion as he hugged me tightly, breaking through the eerie silence that had enveloped me for what felt like an eternity.
Tears welled up in my eyes, and I clung to him as if he was my lifeline. I was more overwhelmed to see he was alive than the fact I had been saved.
I wanted to tell him I was happier to see he was okay, I wanted to ask him how he got away from Isabella, I wanted to ask him how he found me. But talking hurts, so I kept quiet and enjoyed the moment.
"Sorry to ruin the heartwarming moment, but we have to move. We must get there before nightfall."
My heart froze at the sound of that haunting voice. I never thought I would ever hear it again, well, I never thought I would ever hear any voice again. I thought it would be the last voice i will ever hear.
She placed a glistening metal on Gabriel neck and threw him a rope.
"Tie yourself to her and this time tightly. I have upheld my end of the bargain ,and I expect you to do the same. If either of you made any sudden, I will strike you down without any hesitation"
"You made a deal with her," I asked with a shaky voice,
"It's fine, I will get us out of this"
Gabriel stood up to her.
"Oi, I told you no sudden movements, and didn't I ask you to tie her up" She whispered fiercely.
"You said earlier if we had the fight again, you will never lose. How about we duel one last time."
She looked from Gabriel to me and back to Gabriel again.
I knew she wouldn't take the offer, she wasn't that reckless. I prayed she doesn't take it, I didn't want to watch her fight Gabriel.
"What? Are you scared? I beat you once and I will beat you again," He taunted.
"You are so eager to die. If you wish to die in front of your lover, I won't deny you that."
"I will fight you again and this time to the death" She said with glint in her eyes.
"Agreed" He replied.
"But there's a catch, you have to fight with your bare hands."
"No, that's unfair,"
"Then the deals off" She replied
"Okay, okay, I will fight with my bare hands."
I tugged at his arm "No, please, No" I begged.
I knew there was no way he was going to win against Isabella with his bare hands. His win wasn't guaranteed with a sword, fighting her with bare hands will be suicidal.
"She is tricking you, she is going to kill you," I said with a new batch of tears flowing down my cheeks
"You are scared for his life" Isabella chuckled "Well, you are right, you should be"
Gabriel held my face softly in his hands, he wiped my tears with the pad of his thumb "Do you trust me,"
I nodded admits tears.
"Then I promise you, I will be fine" He whispered
He pulled my head closer and planted a soft kiss to my forehead. "I will be fine," He repeated.
He let go of me and faced Isabella. I stepped backwards to give them space.
