Chapter 68 Torn between love and lies.

Chapter 68 Torn between love and lies.
Alpha Avalor's expression softened, but a flicker of doubt crossed his eyes. He knew there was something she wasn't telling him, but he respected her decision to keep it to herself. He didn't want to push her further if she wasn't ready to share.

"I trust you, Melissa," he said gently, squeezing her hand. "If there's ever anything you want to talk about or if you need my support, please know that I'm here for you."

Melissa felt a pang of guilt for keeping her secret, but she also knew that she was doing it out of love and concern for Alpha Avalor. She nodded, her voice filled with gratitude, "Thank you, Alpha Avalor. Your understanding means the world to me."

As the weeks went by, Melissa's pregnancy progressed, and the presence of the triplets growing inside her became more evident. The morning sickness intensified, leaving her feeling constantly nauseous and weak. Yet, she persisted in keeping her condition hidden from Alpha Avalor, not wanting to burden him further with her own struggles.

Alpha Avalor couldn't help but notice the changes in Melissa. Her once radiant energy seemed to wane, and he could see the toll that the war and her undisclosed illness were taking on her. He grew increasingly worried about her well-being, unable to understand the source of her sickness.

One evening, as Melissa struggled to keep her composure during a dinner with Alpha Avalor, she excused herself, claiming a sudden wave of fatigue. Concern etched across his face, Alpha Avalor rose from his seat and followed her to her chambers.

"Melissa, my love, you've been unwell for quite some time now," Alpha Avalor said softly, his voice filled with worry. "Please, tell me what is troubling you. I can't bear to see you suffer like this."

Melissa's heart ached at his genuine concern, but she couldn't bring herself to reveal the truth just yet. She mustered a weak smile and replied, "It's nothing, Alpha Avalor. Just a passing illness. I'll be fine, I promise."

Alpha Avalor's brows furrowed, and he reached out to gently caress Melissa's cheek. "You don't need to bear this alone, Melissa. We are in this together, and your well-being is of utmost importance to me. Please, let me help you."

Melissa's eyes welled up with tears, torn between the desire to confide in Alpha Avalor and the fear of burdening him further. But she couldn't deny the love and concern in his eyes, and she knew that she couldn't hide the truth any longer.

Taking a deep breath, Melissa finally mustered the courage to speak. "Alpha Avalor, I haven't been entirely honest with you. The truth is... I'm pregnant. And not just with one child, but with triplets."

Alpha Avalor's eyes widened in surprise, mixed with a flood of emotions. He reached out to hold Melissa's trembling hands, his voice filled with a mixture of joy, concern, and deep love.

"Melissa, why didn't you tell me earlier?" he asked softly, his voice filled with both relief and worry. "You've been suffering alone, and I could have been there for you. Please, let me take care of you and our growing family."

Melissa's tears streamed down her face, a mix of emotions overwhelming her. She leaned into Alpha Avalor's embrace, feeling a sense of relief and comfort in his arms.

"I wanted to protect you, Alpha Avalor," she whispered, her voice filled with emotions. "I didn't want to burden you with my sickness. But now that you know, I can't hide it any longer. I need you by my side."

Alpha Avalor held Melissa tightly, his voice filled with determination and love. "I'm here for you, Melissa, now and always. We will face this together, and I promise to take care of you and our precious triplets. Nothing is more important to me than your well-being."

Alpha Avalor held Melissa even tighter, his mind filled with a mix of excitement and confusion. "Melissa, my love, I can't help but wonder... who is the father of our children?" he asked, his voice filled with a mix of hope and uncertainty.

Melissa's heart sank at his question. She knew that she couldn't reveal the truth to him just yet, but she also couldn't lie to him any longer. She took a deep breath, trying to find the right words.

"Alpha Avalor, I understand your curiosity, but please trust me when I say that the father of our children doesn't matter. What matters is that we are in this together, and we will love and protect them with all our hearts," Melissa replied, her voice filled with a mix of sadness and determination.

Alpha Avalor's brow furrowed further, his suspicion growing. He couldn't understand why Melissa was avoiding the question. The thought of someone else being the father of their children unsettled him, but he didn't want to jump to conclusions.

"Melissa, I love you more than anything, and I want to trust you completely. But I can't help but feel that there's something you're not telling me," Alpha Avalor said, his voice tinged with concern. "Please, be honest with me. I can handle the truth, whatever it may be."

Melissa's heart ached at his words, torn between her love for Alpha Avalor and the need to protect him. She knew that the truth would eventually come out, but she also didn't want to burden him further with her own struggles.

"Alpha Avalor, please understand that I have my reasons for not revealing the father's identity at this moment," Melissa replied, her voice trembling with emotion. "But I promise you, with all my heart, that our children are loved and cherished by both of us. That's all that matters."

Alpha Avalor's eyes filled with a mix of confusion and pain. He wanted to trust Melissa, to believe that their love was enough to overcome any obstacles. But the lingering doubt in his mind kept him from fully accepting her words.

"I want to believe you, Melissa, but the uncertainty is eating at me," Alpha Avalor admitted, his voice filled with a mix of vulnerability and determination. "I need time to process this, but please know that I will do everything in my power to be there for you and our children."

Melissa nodded, tears streaming down her face. She knew that she couldn't change Alpha Avalor's suspicions.
