Chapter 58 Filled with desperation
Alpha Avalor's eyes widened in surprise at Melissa's words. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. They were mates, destined to be together, and yet she was rejecting him?
"But Melissa, we are mates," Alpha Avalor said, his voice filled with confusion and hurt. "We are meant to be together. How can you say you don't want to be with me?"
Melissa took a deep breath, her voice filled with sincerity. "Alpha Avalor, I understand that we are mates, but love is not something that can be forced. In the human realm, I met someone named Richard, and we fell in love. I can't deny my feelings for him, and I don't want to be here if it means giving up that love."
Alpha Avalor's expression softened, a mixture of understanding and sadness crossing his face. "I see. Love is a powerful force, and I cannot fault you for following your heart. But Melissa, you must understand that our mating bond is strong, and it cannot be easily broken."
Melissa nodded, tears welling up in her eyes. "I know, Alpha Avalor. I never asked for this bond, but I cannot ignore the love I have found with Richard. I hope you can understand."
Alpha Avalor sighed, his gaze filled with a mix of resignation and acceptance. "I understand, Melissa. It pains me to let you go, but I cannot force you to be with me. If Richard is the one who makes you happy, then I will respect your decision."
Alpha Avalor's heart sank as Melissa expressed her desire to leave. He knew he had to make her understand the gravity of the situation, the importance of their bond not just for their own happiness, but for his very survival.
"Melissa, please listen to me," Alpha Avalor pleaded, his voice filled with desperation. "I need you to stay with me, to become my Luna. It's not just about our love, it's about my very existence."
Melissa looked at him, confusion and concern evident in her eyes. "What do you mean, Alpha Avalor? Why do you need me to survive?"
Alpha Avalor took a deep breath, trying to find the right words to explain. "In the werewolf world, the bond between an Alpha and their Luna is not just a romantic connection. It is a vital source of strength and energy for the Alpha. Without a Luna, an Alpha's power diminishes, and they can even fall into a coma, as I did when I was in the human realm."
Melissa's eyes widened in shock, realization slowly dawning on her. "So, when you were in a coma, it was because I wasn't there with you?"
Alpha Avalor nodded, his voice filled with a mix of sadness and urgency. "Yes, Melissa. I was in a coma because I was separated from you, from our bond. It was a struggle to wake up, to come back to you. And now, if you leave, if you reject our bond, I fear I will lose myself again."
Tears welled up in Melissa's eyes as she processed the weight of Alpha Avalor's words. She had no idea that their bond was so crucial, that her absence could have such dire consequences for him.
"I... I didn't know," Melissa whispered, her voice filled with guilt. "I never wanted to cause you harm, Alpha Avalor. But I can't stay just out of a sense of duty. I need to follow my heart."
Alpha Avalor reached out and gently took Melissa's hands in his, his touch warm and comforting. "I understand, Melissa. I don't want you to stay out of duty either. I want you to stay because you love me, because you want to be with me. But I also want you to understand the consequences of your decision."
Melissa looked into Alpha Avalor's eyes, her own filled with a mix of love and sadness. "I do understand, Alpha Avalor. And I'm sorry for the pain I've caused you. But I can't deny my feelings for Richard. I can't give up the love I've found with him."
Alpha Avalor's grip on Melissa's hands tightened, his voice filled with a mix of desperation and determination. "Melissa, I'm begging you. Please reconsider. Let me make you my Luna, let us be together. I can't bear the thought of losing you, of losing myself again."
Melissa's heart ached at Alpha Avalor's plea, but she knew she couldn't change her feelings. "I'm sorry, Alpha Avalor. I can't stay. I can't deny my own happiness for the sake of duty. I hope you can understand."
Alpha Avalor's heart sank as Melissa made her decision clear. He had hoped that she would reconsider, that she would see the importance of their bond and choose to stay with him. But now, he had no other choice.
"Guards," Alpha Avalor said, his voice filled with a mix of sadness and determination. "Carry Melissa to my car."
Melissa's eyes widened in shock as the guards approached her. "No, please, let me go," she pleaded, her voice filled with desperation. "I can't stay, I can't be with you. Please, Alpha Avalor, understand."
Alpha Avalor's expression remained stoic as the guards gently lifted Melissa off her feet and carried her towards the car. He couldn't bear to see the pain in her eyes, but he knew that he had to do what was necessary to protect himself and his pack.
"I understand, Melissa," Alpha Avalor said, his voice filled with a mix of sorrow and determination. "But I cannot let you go. Our bond is too important, not just for me, but for the entire pack. I will do whatever it takes to keep you by my side."
Melissa struggled against the guards' hold, tears streaming down her face. "Please, Alpha Avalor, don't do this. Let me go. I can't be the Luna you need."
Alpha Avalor's grip on his emotions tightened as he watched Melissa's pleading eyes. He knew that forcing her to stay against her will was not the right thing to do, but he also couldn't bear the thought of losing her.
