Chapter 182 Healing Pills.

Chapter 182 Healing Pills.
Melissa held Richard's hand in hers while he sat directly beside her, his eyes closed. He was using his wolven ability to scan the entire area. His ears would detect the slightest shuffle and it was the best way to protect her at the moment.
He opened his eyes at last. “We are clear, at least for the next five minutes,” he said. “Are you in pain?” He asked.
Melissa looked at him, a face she could never really get tired of looking at. She smiled and then shook her head. “My head is throbbing a little but I think I am too low on blood to actually feel anything,” she replied.
“Electrocution?” He asked.
“Yes, multiple times,” she replied.
“After this I am gonna kill the infernal,” he said.
Melissa chuckled. “How was the journey back home?” She asked.
“Hectic, but nothing the demon wolf couldn't pull,” he said. He pulled out two guns from his pocket and handed one over to her. “We will be having company soon,” he said. “You know how to use a gun right?” He asked.
Melissa nodded. She exhaled and then sat up twisting her neck sideways till it made a cracking sound. Richard closed his eyes. “There are three of them scanning the perimeter, they don't know where we are yet but they will pick up scent soon enough. I am going to try and hunt them down, anyone who comes near you will empty that clip into them,” he said.
“No,” she replied, standing up. “I am coming with you, we will try to get it to the safe zone together. There is no point sitting down.” She had rested a bit and a little bit of vigor and came back to her. She felt like she shouldn't be holding him back currently. Not when they were this close to taking down the oracle.
The infernal would already be pushing the entire crazy plan forward. Such plans seem to come with being very old and having time to go over one's grudge over and over again. He'd started the long awkward plan when they first met at Arabella's house and he'd come to her for help. What he told her back then made her realize the magnitude of whatever they were going through.
“Okay,” he said and smiled. “You know that is one of the reasons I really like you,” he said with an awkward smile.
Melissa raised her eyes in a daring manner. “And why is that?” She asked.
“Because you are strong, you are very strong,” he said.
Melissa looked at him and nodded with a smile. He knew how to make her feel better. She ran forward behind him, both of them crouching low as they walked. “I have wolfsbane in my system and I will not be able to use my senses,” she said. “You are my eyes and ears.”
Richard paused. “Get behind me,” he said with urgency. She complied immediately. Right in front of them a man dressed in all black, carrying one of those large semi automatic guns stepped forward from a sharp corner. Before he would realize their position, Richard already flung a throwing dagger in his way. The dagger embedded itself in the base of his neck and the man dropped.
“Sorry about that,” Richard said. “I have no choice but to take them down as fast and as efficiently as possible,” he apologized to her.
Melissa nodded in understanding. They pushed forward, Richard leading the way. “Why didn't you use the gun earlier,” she asked.
“Noise will draw others to us,” he replied.
Melissa nodded, he was so damn reliable. He then turned around after a while. “We are clear for now,” he said. He then dipped his hand into his pocket removing a small transparent polythene bag that contained some pills.
“What is that?” He asked.
“Nathaniel gave me this, in case you had wolfsbane poison,” he took one of the pills out. “It takes three minutes to counteract the wolfsbane process but you'd be in pain for those three minutes, as it would be burning it out of your system,” he said.
Melissa didn't let him finish when she snatched the pill for him and downed it. At first she didn't feel anything but after a few seconds the pain kicked in. She crouched down immediately, her fingers clawing in as her entire system felt as if it was on fire. She couldn't scream because she knew the noise would actually bring back lots of guards towards them. She just crouched down gritting her teeth.
Richard rushed to her and held her in his hands. The moment she felt his scent wrap around him she held him tightly and felt a little at ease. In ancient fables, there was a popular myth that wolf mates could share pain. Although Melissa knew that was a myth she held onto it at the moment and used it to push through her pain.
It felt like ages before the pain started to subside. At that moment she felt nauseated and she pushed Richard away instinctively, she ran forward and then vomited the contents in her stomach. A yellowish fluid gushed out of her mouth with an insane intensity. She felt a little feverish after the entire contents came out.
There was a sour taste in her mouth and she spat it out multiple times. She cleaned her mouth with the sleeve of her cloth and Richard walked towards her. “Are you okay?” He asked.
“Yes,” she nodded.
“Okay good,” he replied. “How do you feel?”
“Tired but angry,” she said, letting her eyes glow and her claws flicked out from her fingers.
“Good,” Richard said, “let us do this.”
She nodded at him and he flipped the gun she'd dropped while in pain to her. “You seem to have discovered how to take pain easily,” he remarked.
“This pain is nothing near the pain of dying slowly, unable to move,” she replied, then switched off the gun's safety and cock it. “Let us get out of here before Infernal sinks the entire building with us on it,” she said.
Richard nodded and they ran forward.
