Chapter 151 Joyce
Melissa and Beatrice clicked open the door to the security team's door and it buzzed red. Before they could even react to the shock, sentinels surrounded them with guns pointed at two of them. The sentinels were unlike the ones that had even guarded her. These ones wore black all through and their clothes appeared to be made of a thicker kind of fabric.
"Get on your knees now!" Their leader screamed, as Melissa glanced at their bodies, it was filled with a series of red lights.
Beatrice exhaled and Melissa could see her breath, the temperature had started to drop, she was about to use abilities. At that moment, she realized the councilwoman had assumed the role of Richard and ws ready ro protect her from any form of danger. She however held her hand out to her and the councilwoman calmed down.
"I order you to put down your guns," Melissa said without a shred of emotion. Her voice was cold and direct and she had expended a bit of her aura shen she spoke, adding a domineering stance to her words.
The captain was taken aback by the way she spoke and he lowered his weapon a bit when the realization hit him. "Your majesty?" He said in a surprised tone. "Put your weapons down. It is her majesty, " he raised his hand up and all the sentinels responded. Then he bowed in front of her.
"We apologize to your majesty, ever since the attack we have been on high alert. Such can never repeat again. I hope you can understand the situation and forgive us. However if you decide not to, I am the one to punish," he said, his voice thick and present. He had this balanced and prominent look about him like he was a brick. He is, though, built like a brick and has his muscles obviously groaned under the tightness of his cloth.
Melissa smiled. "Apologies are not appropriate either," she said. "I should apologize, I am barely under the rules of my own castle."
He bowed with a smile and then turned to Beatrice. "Miss Beatrice…." he trailed off and then spoke again. "Councilwoman Beatrice, good morning, how is Hashar doing these days," he said, those words a little less formal than he had been speaking.
Beatrice chuckled. "He is fine, thank you. Jacob," she smiled at him. "I wouldn't have guessed it was you under the mask," she said.
Jacob bowed and then removed his helmet. "I forgot I had this on, apologies to your majesty. "
Melissa couldn't help but feel impressed and protected around him, he talked sharply and in a refined manner. When he removed his helmet, his face just complimented his grace. He was blonde haired, blue eyes and a sturdy looking jaw. He smiled sparsely and he spoke again. "Might I ask what her majesty is doing here?"
"Personal business mostly," Melissa said. "We need to see the security team," she said.
"Okay, let me be your guide.," he replied. "Boys, get back to your positions," he ordered and his team disappeared immediately without so much as a sound when they moved their feet.
"Your majesty, next time you come, just put your finger on this," he said pointing to a small, thumb sized separate space on the door glowing blue light and an obvious sign of a thumb on it. "Everyone else needs this," he raised his card. "But you do not."
He placed the card on the door's handle and it clicked open. The door swung open to a large room filled with officials wearing white. It was a bit rowdy, as it would turn out all of them were also doing the same thing Melissa and the others were, they were checking past camera feeds to check how there had been a lapse in their security system.
"Who do I meet for some technical advice on a particular cam feed?" She asked Jacob.
"Your majesty followed me,"he said and they followed him immediately. He walked briskly, but Melissa felt as if she could feel him walk, like the ground was shaking.
"Would you like to be a bodyguard?" She asked thoughtlessly. "Just for… a few days tops."
"Your majesty need not ask, you need just order!" He said pushing a door at the corner of the area open.
"I don't want to order, I want your consent," Melissa said.
"I will think about it your majesty, but I am curious, who would I be protecting?" He asked and then walked towards the small table that divided the room. The room was a small cozy one with lots of books hanging around and three computers on the table. "This is the logistics though, " he smiled. "Joyce?"
Melissa looked at him. "The Alpha and Luna of Vance," she said, replying to his question, she wanted to say more but trailed off when she registered he'd called the name Joyce.
A girl popped out from behind the table, a pencil in her mouth and a black light pen in her hair. Her hair was a bit disheveled and she had a pair of rosaries dangling from her wrist. "Babe?"she said. "I always tell you not to come to my workplace. This is work ti…" she trailed off the moment she saw her. "Ericaaa?" She bulged her eyes and flipped herself over the counter and hugging her tightly.
Melissa giggled, and hugged her back. "How about Hale?"she asked.
"Dead man walking, " she chuckled. "He is at home, retired and with his mate. They met about five years ago," she informed.
Melissa smiled. "Good for him, I would like to go see him," she said.
"Yeah, you should. He ain't got much left. He is already a hundred and seventy, so he is nearing that age," she smiled. "So how does it feel?"
"How does whar feel?"
"Being Luna of course."
"Tiring," Melissa exhaled.
"As expected, come on, follow me, wanna make an announcement," she said.
Melissa looked at her as she got dragged outside. "Yo, everybody, stop what you are doing. My girl from way back is in the building!" Everyone turned back as she yelled. "Your majesty, the Luna," and they all turned shocked.
Melissa bulged her eyes at her. "You were not supposed to do that."
Everyone in the hall bowed to her and she could even barely tell them to resume their duties before dragging Joyce back into the small room. "You have not changed a bit!"
