Chapter 132 Ninja vs Vampire
They appeared right in the corridor of a building. A guard was patrolling towards them and Melissa froze. Then the guard moved past them without saying a word. Then she turned to Richard and smiled. She wanted to kiss him, mostly because he was so dependable and smart, but partly because she liked kissing him. His lips taste like tangerine.
She shook that from her head and followed Avalor's lead, he was in front of them, moving on his toes like he was a ninja. Beatrice was behind and Melissa knew she'd automatically taken the role of shielding her from behind. Normally, she'd like to protest, but she kept silent.
There'd been times when she'd see herself as a liability to them when they were doing dangerous things like this. They were always protecting her and also trying to get out of a risky situation and she'd always felt, if she wasn't there, they would focus on themselves but ever since Hades, that feeling had subsided. Now she couldn’t let them out of her sight, because she needed to protect them.
She understood their relationship in a way, they protected each other. They wouldn't want her to face harm due to her uniqueness, abilities and presence. She'd seen it today when she was with the crowd, the people loved her. She'd seen it in the face of her guards, they were not just doing it as a duty, no! They saw her as something they really had to protect, it was like she gave them hope and sincerely she didn't feel that way.
Half the time, she had no idea what she was doing, like right now. She was a queen, the Luna of an entire wolf pack and she was sneaking around in one of the most secured buildings in the world over a hunch that an alpha from a pack with a delicate relationship with them was in danger. Was she really someone to hope for? Because sincerely, she felt like a kid in the shoes of gods running around thinking she was something.
Yet she knew, if she didn't do something about a slight feeling that she felt and something went wrong, she would not be happy with herself. She exhaled and walked forward in the darkness. She could feel the strength from Richard, he was indeed very powerful in the dark. Each and everyday their connection increased everyday. They always had something that connected them more.
At first she could sense his temperament and other emotions without using her powers, soon she could feel when he was around, without even stressing, even when he erased his presence. If Richard was around her somewhere, she always got an increased sense of confidence.
Now she could feel his strength levels. That was probably happening because they were mates.
"What floor are they on?" Richard asked.
The party all turned to Melissa, who smiled. She hadn't thought of that. "A minute," she said, flaring her aura. She was stupid… very stupid. She'd rushed them all into a stupid mission without even knowing all the facts. It was like she was getting more stupid each passing day as a Luna.
She was still searching when they suddenly heard a thud behind them. They glanced back and the guard that was patrolling the last corridor was down behind them. Someone blitzed past them in a black blur. That speed was unimaginably quick and they'd all made a preliminary guess of what creature that would be.
Richard turned around, leaving them all as their presence became evident again. He checked the wound and turned to them. "Vampire," he said.
"Oh, God!" Melissa said. "I was right," she said.
Now that she was right, she hated herself a little bit more. What did she have to be right in this situation?
“Did you exchange numbers?" Richard asked her and she shook her head.
There was no way they were searching this entire building for an entire night. The vampire would have killed them and be done with it before they would finally find them. Melissa was already pacing when Richard held her once. He looked into her eyes, his eye glowing. "Calm down!" He growled and she stopped instinctively.
"Find them, when you do, call us. For now, I will try to trace the vampire's presence with Avalors." Richard gave the orders. "Beatrice, protect her," he looked at her and the she-wolf nodded.
Richard and Avalors vanished from thin air and Melissa sat down and positioned herself, flaring her aura. The aura spread throughout the floor and other floors, then she started stealing bits of other's aura, using it to increase her focus. She kept on looking and looking, sweat trickling down her face.
Beatrice then held her hand and somehow, she cooled down and she doubled her effort and at last she found them, they were on the topmost floor. "Damn!” Melissa blurted.
"What?” Beatrice asked.
"We are going to the last floor," she said, calling Richard.
The Demon wolf didn't pick up, he only appeared in front of them with Avalors. It was so convenient for him to move with his shadows in the dark. "Where are they?" He asked.
"Last floor," Melissa said. "Fifth room," she added.
They all touched each other and Richard’s shadow enveloped them. They reached the topmost floor and Richard smiled. "You all don't need to hold each other again, I can travel with you guys without a physical contact now," he said, embarrassed that he'd just remembered.
"Okay," Richard cleared his throat."What is the game plan?" He asked.
"Well…” Avalors said. "We are definitely not knocking on their door and screaming, ‘It is a vampire,’ ," he said.
He was definitely right, alarming them won't help out, they needed to be discreet, in fact if they could do it like ninjas it would be cool. They would go in and out without anyone ever finding out they were there.
"How about we guard the door?" Beatrice suggested.
They all nodded and they hid their presence as they stood at the door. The vampire may be fast, but he wasn't faster than instant teleportation. They all stood at the door, waiting patiently for him.
