Chapter 128 Hance Vance Dance
Melissa almost slapped Hance's face when he spoke, what he said took her by complete surprise, and even Margaret was shocked. She didn't even put that on a list of things they would wanna say. Why would they even know of the existence of such an organisation?
Maybe… except they were affected by them. Melissa remembered the last meeting they did where they were still uncertain wether the Oracle only had that one branch across Dunham or they extenced elsewhere. As it would seem now, they actually extended past the entire pack into the Vance territory.
Whatever this organization's goal was, it was grander than it seemed. That was why they wouldn't hesitate to try and kill her in public. They were way more powerful than they'd initially thought. Melissa exhaled and then turned to the two wolves at their table.
"I have, but only rumors," she said, trying to understand what their actual goal was. She flared her ability, focusing it on them, trying to determine the slightest shift in their emoitions. This was a delicate subject and Melissa knew she couldn't take it lightly in anyway.
"Okay…" he said glancing around, and lowering his voice completely. "We need to meet privately. Without the crowd and all. " he said, exhaling.
"Why is that?" Melissa pressed. "You need to give me something, you are acting really weird," she said, feigning ignorance. She needed to be as discreet as possible. If his intent was ill, she would be able evade it by not blabbing her mouth away.
The Alpha looked at her. "Look at me, princess," he said and Melissa curled her brows up, she was way more than a princess now. "Your kingdom, mine and every other kingdoms out there are about to collapse without a trace and I need you to stop this. I am asking for your help here." He said.
"Why my help, why not get help from other alphas around?" she said.
"None of them can catch a bullet in mid air, or use The Aura," he said.
"You know about the aura?" She asked.
"I know a lot of things, but none of it can help me now," he said.
"Then why not let it out?" she said. "Let me win today's discussion, and then we can discuss about my help," she said.
He shook his head and then drew closer to her. "I do not…" he exhaled and then glanced sideways.
"Don't worry, speak on," Richard said from behind them. "No one can hear you," he said.
Melissa smiled the moment she heard his voice. She 'd contacted him earlier, the moment Hance had mentioned the Oracle. She needed Richard there with her, whatever they were going to say next was definitely going to be highly confidential and with her mate's ability to erase the presence of things, he was perfect at concealment.
Hance glanced up at Richard and smiled. "The Demon Wolf," he muttered before turning back to Melissa. "I do not decide whatever will happen today. They do, the council," he said.
"Wait… Does that mean you are also just a figurehead?" She asked.
"Worse than a figurehead at this point, I currently have a gun pointed to my son's head. I have no control over whatever they do and it sucks, but what sucks more is that my child doesn't have a world to wake up to tomorrow." He said "Whatever the Oracle is planning is massive and I cannot just sit down and watch. Half my council are Oracle members."
Margaret breathed then exhaled. "What exactly are they trying to do? Give us a clue… anything?" She asked.
"I can't know, " he then passed a card to the table. "Meet me at that hotel, disguise yourself." He said.
Melissa nodded and just stood up. She left the seat, her brain started to overwork she needed to understand what was actually happening. The orcale was larger than they had expected and for some reason they'd infiltrated Vance. They now control the town, and there was a possibility they ochestrated the entire rebellion the Vance pack were trying to throw.
She'd remembered in her past life that Ronald had attacked the Vance pack with their armies and they'd easily crushed Vance but after then, she'd started to see new faces in the palace. Times that she'd tried to drag herself out of Ned, she'd noticed new voices and new councilmembers. Some of the councilmembers Ronald had used, he'd discarded easily. Alina was one of those that were discarded.
Lots of questions started to rouse up in her head. "Was the Oracle trying to break up all ther governments one after the other? Putting them in a position to rule. If they wanted that, why would they want to rule the entire Wolven continent?” She shook her head and just headed for her seat.
The meeting was about to start again and she was already fed up of it. She had a lot on her mind now, she couldn't care how this meeting went. She needed to see the Alpha quickly and get the answers she needed. The Oracle was now the number one on the threat list.
She needed to tell Beatrice to hasten up her attack on Theresa, and if needed they'd need to start using underhanded tactics to get things done. She didn't hear anything in the meeting anymore. She'd left everything to Magaret.
By the time she would blip out of her self-induced unconsciousness, they were passing the verdict of the meetimg already.
"The Vance pack would remain under the Dunham pack, with a ten percent tax reduction and the Dunham pack promises to eradicate the Moon rage within a year," the mediator said and a round of applause broke across the table. Melissa sighed, this was probably the worst meeting she'd attended, she didn't listen to a word that was spoken. She was there physically but her mind was somewhere else.
The two who had started the meeting, moved a motion for it to end. At last they came to the end of the meeting.
