Chapter 106 Monstrosity

Chapter 106 Monstrosity
Melissa had never seen such a wrong looking person in her life. The fact that he was standing there was just out of place. He was bulky, and he looked like someone had stuffed an entire amount of meat into him just so that he'd increase in size.

Yet that bulkiness and huge mess did not impair his flexibility and freedom. Normally, huge things have problems moving and walking. As he took leisure strides down the step, Melissa's brain was finding it hard to place him in the correct proportion.

Melissa swallowed as Richard and Avalors stood in front, getting ready. They didn't need to tell Melissa twice; there was no fighting something like this, it was a moving force of nature, like an humanoid concept that was brought from the bowels of the earth itself.

He had a hood on, so they couldn't see his face, they could only imagine the monstrosity behind that shade of darkness.

"Why are you here?" Richard asked, trying to buy them time.

Melissa had seen Richard in every single one of his moods, this was the first time she was seeing him totally scared. She remembered that he told them he fought a huge vampire but she definitely wasn't expecting this. Everything it was emitting towards them was just wrong.

"To finish my old business with you, of course," it smiled and from underneath the darkness of its hood they could see his white dripping teeth.

"We don't have the time to dance with you now, sorry," he said and then he held Avalors who held everyone but before he could tap into his power, the vampire had covered the distance between them and he was literally standing in front of them, his hand sticking something inside Richard's neck before kicking him away.

Richard knocked into Margret, both of them flying off into the distance. The hotel was empty now, not one person could be found. It was just them and him. They needed to run off.

"Get to Richard," Avalors said, ejecting his claws. "I'll distract him."

Melissa was so riddled in fear that she could barely speak or move. It was impossible to distract death — was the thought on her mind but she couldn't do anything about it. She couldn't even speak. She watched as Avalors launched at the monstrosity. Beatrice dragged Melissa towards where Richard was.

They sat him up and they all crouched around him as he looked at them in fear. He removed what was stuck in his neck, it was a tiny syringe. He sniffed it and the fear coming in from him increased by a hundred fold.

"What is it?" Beatrice said, the fear in her increasing too. Melissa could feel all these fears around her and it only dampened her. There was nothing she could do if every single person that she's seen as strong and dependable were emitting deathlike fears.

"It is quicksilver, I cannot access my innate powers," he said.

"So we are stuck," Margeret asked, with a statement-like tone.

"Yes," Richard nodded.

Just as they said this, Avalors screamed. They turned back to see the vampire lifting him up by the head trying to press it open like a watermelon fruit. Melissa yelled and moved instinctively. Yes she was afraid, but she couldn't watch one of her own die without her trying to fight.

She rushed forward with a feral scream. The vampire hurled Avalors into her before she could reach him, knocking her down with the weight. Just as she was knocked down, she could see Richard jump above her, sending a kick into the vampire.

Melissa couldn't see what was happening as the weight of the unconscious Avalors pressing down against the ground. She awkwardly pushed him away with her entire strength. She quickly rolled forward to him and tried to make sure he was alive. She placed her hand on his chest and his heart was still beating. She exhaled.

By the time she looked back, Beatrice and Richard were engaging the monster and the fight was not going in their way. She searched for Margeret and could see her crouching in a corner. "Good," she muttered to herself.

She got up from Avalors and launched for the vampire. Before she could reach it completely, it struck its leg out, knocking her to the ground, her ribs aching from such powerful force.

Melissa landed on her butts again. He easily disposed of Beatrice and Richard. Then he headed towards her. "Little princess," he said.

Melissa started to drag herself backwards instinctively as he walked towards her.

"There is something peculiar about you, unlike your parents, you have so much potential and sincerely it is a shame to kill you right now. As a doctor, I would have loved to try and study how your bodily functions work," he said.

Melissa couldn't understand him, in fact she didn't care, there was something in her chest, clutching her. She stood up and held her chest. It was like a surge of energy was gathering there and it was making her feel uneasy. She breathed, at least tried to, as the heat in her chest rose up. Something was happening to her, but she couldn't speak either.

"Well, princess, I can assure you that there is nothing to fear in death," he said and rushed towards her, but Richard met him midway, holding him down and using the opportunity to open the hood on its head.

"Gods," even Richard exclaimed.

The vampire's face had visible veins running across it and it felt as if they were wriggling like worms under his skin. On his forehead was a hole drilled into his skull. Melissa had heard of such a medical term before, they called it trepanation but Melissa didn't think the hole in his head was for medical purposes.

He broke Richard's hand and the demon wolf let out a grunt and he slapped him into the side of the building. The force of the blow audibly cracking Richard's ribs.

At this time the heat gathering at Melissa's chest was already suffocating her and she needed to release it. The vampire walked towards her and she stretched her hand out all of a sudden, yelling as the heat in her chest released.

A forcefield broke out from her body knocking back the vampire and shattering all the glass in the building, even the bulbs broke, chaos ensuing around her. She looked around surprised as the sun rays flooded in.
