Chapter 105 Future Sight
"Get down!" Melissa screamed, diving forward as the door swung open forcefully, she knocked Margaret to the ground, a bullet barely missing them.
Three newcomers were in their room and they were all dressed in corporate black and white suits, each with a pistol in their hand, the pistol had a mounted silencer on it. The way they entered and started to shoot, it was obvious they were here to kill them and they knew exactly who they were.
Judging by whom they first targeted as they entered, it seemed Margeret was their primary target. It was hard to use her danger awareness on everyone, she could only sense what was coming in her direction. Melissa stood down, shielding Margaret as the shooters ran forward.
Melissa seemed to have forgotten that she had the demon wolf as her own bodyguard and just because he is just Richard to her doesn't make him any less of a beast. He sprang up from his seat, diving straight into one of the three shooters, knocking him down. Before the shooter could react, Richard slammed his fist into the side of his neck, he went pale in an instant.
He then took his gun as multiple shots flew in his direction as he rolled away. He'd managed to get the attention of the other shooters. They turned to him, shooting at him, but he'd already hid behind a chair. Just as they'd focused their attention on him, Avalors lunged out of hiding, knocking another down, before the third one could come to the aid of his companion, Richard rolled out from hiding and put two bullets in his leg. The man sunk to the ground and the demon wolf dashed forward punching him so hard he fainted.
Melissa stood up from Margeret and the five of them paused for a minute, still trying to take in the shock. Richard broke out of it first. "Avalors, try to get Eric on the line, we've been compromised and we are leaving here now," he said with a sense of urgency. He bent down and picked up the assailants' guns. He tossed one to Beatrice and one to Avalors.
"Melissa is the top priority and Margaret is the second, don't let either of them out of your sight," he commanded. If not for the life threatening situation, Melissa wanted to kiss him, he appeared so hot when he was serious.
Melissa turned to Margeret. "Are you okay?"she asked.
"Yes," she nodded. "Thanks for saving my life," she smiled again.
Melissa shook her head inwardly, there wasn't a situation it seems, where Margeret wouldn't smile, she was so sweet and that sweetened her. The last time someone was a hundred percent sweet to her, they killed her. She was in the middle of these thoughts when she sensed danger. She turned around and checked the window.
"Oh, Gods," she said, dashing towards Richard at an insane speed. Richard whirled around in surprise and he heard a tiny sound of glass cracking.
When he realised what had happened, he saw Melissa, in front of him, her enclosed hand, in front of his face and she was breathing in fear. Richard wanted to speak but stopped when she opened her palm. There was a bullet in it, she'd saved his life.
Richard's eyes bulged in realisation, he glanced at the other building, turning halfway so as to improve his vision and he could see the next building, where a sniper laid adjusting the scope of his gun. He turned to Melissa and smiled knowingly before summoning the darkness to consume him. He landed in the next building, the admin building of infinite zoos. He then proceeded to beat up the sniper till he was unconscious.
He came back and gestured for everyone to move and the crew got out immediately. Richard and Avalors were in front while Beatrice was at the back, putting Melissa and Margaret in the middle.
They walked leisurely but briskly towards the elevator so as not to attract any commotion.
Melissa had her danger awareness ability on, she used her senses to map out all the areas around them, covering everyone with it. She could feel it sapping out her energy, she'd never used it at such a scale before but this was a situation she knew she couldn't afford to be weak in.
They reached the elevator and waited for it, something was coming up and Richard advised everyone to step backward. Just before the elevator would open, Melissa sensed the danger, she ran forward pulling Richard backwards while yelling for everyone to get on the floor. The elevator opened and everything exploded.
A fire alarm blared in response as everyone started to run out of their rooms. The hotel rooms, that were silent a minute before, had morphed into a hub of panic and anxiety as people rushed out of their rooms. A large speaker blared survival instructions.
Melissa and her crew rushed along with the crowd, Richard still leading them. He was working his senses into overdrive. Twice now he would have been dead, and if he died, he wasn't confident in placing the protection of Melissa with anyone else. Other than the fact that he loved her, he sure knew that she was a symbol and a source of strength the Dunham pack cannot afford to lose.
There might be people who don't understand this yet, but Melissa was born for a purpose and he was going to see to it that she fulfilled that purpose.
They took the stairs hurrying down, when they all felt the presence in their midst. They stopped and turned around. They allowed the crowd to phase past them. They all knew they couldn't run anymore, whatever was coming for them couldn't be crippled by a mere concept such as distance. So they waited. They could see the glimpse of him- it.
It stood at the edge of the stairs and was glancing right at them. Richard recognized him. It was the vampire that they'd barely escaped from. He looked in fear and screamed.
"Everyone step back!”
