Chapter 17
Luna's POV
Nick took me home after the banquet, it had been an extremely eventful night.
I was still surprised about the dispute he and his father had gotten into.
We sat in the busy Friday evening traffic, I looked to my left at him as he kept his hands clutched firmly around the steering wheel.
I had asked him not long after we left if he was okay, he told me yes but he didn't seem okay.
He kept his eyes locked on the road as we slowly moved through the busy New York City traffic.
I pulled out my phone from my clutch and turned it on, two texts from Katerina.
Hey call me when you can!'
'Why do I even bother texting you, it's not like you awnser your phone. Whatever just call me when you can.'
I scrolled through my most recent calls and put my phone to my ear, the phone rang and rang as I got Katerina's voicemail
"Hey! You've reached my cell, sorry I can't come to the phone now but leave your name an I'll get back to you as soon as I can." I groaned, typical.
"What's wrong?" asked West as he turned to look at me, it was the first time since we had gotten in the car that he had spoken or taken his eyes off the road.
I sighed,
"My sister, she texted me while I was at the banquet she is telling me to call her but she isn't picking up. I'm getting worried." I said looking at him, concern on my face.
"We're five minutes away, if you want I can come in with you."
"Will you?" He gave me a slight grin,
"Of course."
A few moments later we parked outside of my building and ran inside and towards the elevator.
"God, my feet are killing me." I said as I leaned up against the elevator wall.
I watched as West crouched to the ground and grabbed my ankle, he undid my shoes and held them in his hand.
"Thank you." I said resting my head against the wall he smirked and nodded. After a few more seconds we finally reached my floor.
Both of us hurried down the hall, I pulled out my key to unlock the door.
"Katerina!" I yelled as I threw the door open and hurried in.
I stopped in my tracks when I saw Katerina sitting at my kitchen table, two women were sitting next and across from her, one had long dark brown hair and the other dirty blonde, shoulder length hair.
"Mom? Aunt Jen?" I said in utter shock, they both stood up in a hurry to give me big welcoming hugs.
As my mom pulled away I saw her eyes fix on something behind me.
Someone, actually.
Nick.
"Oh, hello?" she said walking passed me.
"Hello, you must be Mrs. Bella." said West clearing his throat and shaking her hand.
She nodded
"You, would be correct."
"Honey please, introduce us to your friend."
"Yeah Luna, introduce us to your "friend" " said Katerina as she raised her hands and motioned air quotes at the word friend.
I glared at her before looking back at my aunt and mom, still shocked they were here.
"Oh, right. I'm sorry, uh mom, aunt Jen this is West Johnson." I said touching his arm real quick and the"
"Likewise. Well, I should probably be on my way, I don't want to intrude." he said giving them a warm look.
Kiss up.
"Oh no, you wouldn't be intruding at all!" Said my mother,
"Please, join us."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, of course! You're alright with that, aren't you Luna?" asked my mom as she broke me out of my thoughts.
I saw the way she an my aunt looked at him, especially Jen.
They knew he was gorgeous and the way they looked at him, was the way wolves look before they attack their prey.
My aunt was the wolf, West was the prey.
Oh god.
"Honey?"
"What? Oh, yeah I guess." I said taking a seat next to him.
"Great! So West tell me about yourself." said my overly intrigued mother.
"Uh, well I'm twenty seven, I uh have a younger brother named Elias and I live here in the city."
No father mentioned, nothing said about how I worked for his jerk of a fathers company or how the two of us met.
But those were the details I was alright with him leaving out.
"Oh wow, well how nice."
"I feel like I've seen you before." said Jen.
"Me? Are you sure?"
"Yeah! Yes, oh my gosh I know where I've seen you!" we all looked at her.
"You were the guy who was rated one of the hottest men from 2012 to 2014. You model, and have your own vodka line. It's my favorite vodka might I mention."
She said in a flirtatious way.
I was annoyed now.
"Uh, yeah. Yeah that was me."
"Aha oh my gosh! So wait how do the two of you know each other?" Jen asked pointing at both of us.
We exchanged looks real quick
"We met at the mall-" I quickly.
"Dog park." he replied a second after me, Katerina faced palmed, I felt like doing the same thing. They stared at he and I, confused.
"Uh, we met at the dog park...
I breathed a sigh of relief, even though it was the worst lie ever.
"Oh, well okay. Speaking of dogs, where is little Bella?" my mom asked,
"He's probably in my room. I'll go get him."
I said quickly standing up and hurrying to the back of my apartment.
Before I stood up I tapped west's knee to signal for him to meet me there.
"Uh I'll be right back I just remembered that I need to make a call." he said, he was a horrible liar.
"Oh okay." I heard my mom say, I stood in my doorway as he quickly hurried inside. I shut my door behind him.
"I'm so sorry about this, I had no idea that they'd be here an I-" he kissed my lips and cupped my face in his hands to shut me up.
"Don't ever say sorry. It's fine, they're very nice." He said as he pulled away.
"Yeah, maybe a little too nice." I said looking at my door an then at him as I was referring to my thirty seven year old aunt. I cringed even thinking about that.
"Look I'll figure out a way to get you out of all this misery."
"Tess, it's fine. I swear, I need to spend time somewhere else, with new people." he placed my hand in his.
I nodded,
"Let's just go back out there." he said rubbing my arm, I nodded.
We both walked into the kitchen at the same time, Bella trotting over to our guests, the three of them immediately looked at us.
"So I have to ask-why are both of you so dressed up?" asked my mom.
"Oh, we went to a banquet, it was something for my work."
"And you two were each other's dates?"
"Mom!" I said glaring at her, I could see a smirk coming across Nick's face.
"What? I'm just curious, it's nothing to be ashamed of, Luna your father an I we went to-"
"Oh my god mom! Please stop." I heard a chuckle escape from Nick.
"Okay, I'm just going to be up front, are you two together? Cause if so, nice work Luna." Jen said abruptly.
"Oh my god! Does this family have no filter, I'm leaving, I'm leaving. Yep I'm going." I say grabbing my keys and jacket and walking towards the front door.
"Luna! Luna! Luna!" West called out as he ran up behind me, I began to open the door as he placed his hand on it and shut it
"What? I'm leaving, this is so embarrassing."
"Luna, they're your family. You can't expect them to not at least try and embarrass you at least a little, His smile overwhelmed me, in a good way. When he smiled his eyes seemed to light up even brighter than they already were.
"C'mon."
I pursed my lips and crossed my arms
"Fine." he smirked and placed his hand on the lower part of my back as he pushed me back towards the living room.
"We're sorry sweetie, we didn't mean to upset you." said my mom as she placed her hand on my arm.
"It's fine."
After what seemed like hours of awkward conversations I finally walked West out.
We got into the elevator and the doors shut.
"I'm so glad that's over with."
He moved his hand over and under his jaw and laughed a bit.
"It was...entertaining, they love you. It was all in good fun." he said looking down at me. I shrugged, maybe.
"I mean do we really look like a couple..." I said thinking out loud.
"I don't know you tell me." as the doors opened he gave me a gentle kiss on the mouth, as he stuffed his hands in his pockets and gave me a grin, he backed up and stood outside of the elevator.
"Goodbye, Luna." He said a playful tone in his voice.
"West." I nod and smile as the doors finally shut, slowly.
He drove me crazy, a really good kind of crazy.
