Chapter 18
SITARA.


I have been by Kyle's side as much as I could. Before work, I would come in and bring him
breakfast, during lunch, I would check up on him, and before leaving, I would tell him goodbye

It's been a couple of days since he woke up and started moving about. He is still very much sore, but he is a fighter.

"Who is ready for their pain medication."

"Not me, he sings."

He always told me that the day I became a nurse, he would go to another hospital, and he said he didn't want me to stick him in the wrong place.

"Where does this one go, in the arm or the leg?".
I smile, and his face drops.

"No..."

His voice pitches, and I burst and put laughing.

"ohh.. yeah, in the but."

Decoding that it's better not to fight it, he just pulls his pants a little, turns his face, and bites down on his pajama shirt.

"See quick and painless." I said while placing the needle in the bin.

"I can't believe I'm about to say this, but you have gotten so much better. Remember when you practiced your needle work on us? You were horrible. horribke."

He rubs his but and gets back into bed.

"So.. I wanted to ask you this a little while ago, but I didn't know how to ask."

"What's that?"

"Could I be your Beta, I mean, you're going to be Luna, and I would want nothing more than to protect the friend that protected me from those bullies years ago."

I was speechless, I thought he forgot about that day.

"I would love that, bit I'm not sure I may ever be luna."

"What, why? Are you scared."

"No, because the Title has to be handed down to me from the current Luna, and the current Luna doesn't like me at all."

"What, Luna Karla?"

"Yeah, she told Travis and Tristan that they should reject me or the other Alohas would laugh at them."

"Luna Karla, the nice little lady that walks around with a halo over her head, said rhar."

"Yeah."

"What the actual frying pan."

I burst out laughing at his choice of words.

"Listen, no matter what people say, no matter what you may think about yourself. You are the nicest person u have ever met, and you deserve every ounce of happiness this world has in stored.

So if that happiness comes in the form of two Alphas and no in-laws, take it. Ok."

He rubbed my shoulder and smiled at me, I couldn't help but feel a little better. Mariah and Daniel came to visit on my lunch break, Daniel left to attend to some pack duties.

"So, have you heard from Tristan and Travis?:

Mariah asked.

"No, not since after they arrived, and the only person that texted me was Travis, Tristan didn't message or call."

"Daniel told me Travis got himself in some trouble, well.almost got himself in trouble. Something about barking at Council member Hermine."

We burst out laughing even though it's not a laughing matter, but it's totally something Travis would do

"You have a revel on your hands sitara."

Mariah says with a little chuckle.

I wanted to grab my phone and text him to make sure he is alright, but I also know he wouldn't want me to worry. So I just let it go.

while heating up my lunch, I heard Mariah and Kyle whispering about something, and usually, when they whispered when we were younger, they were ploting to do something that would cause trouble.

"So what are you two planning?"

" Well, Kyle and I were talking the other day, and we know when you turn Luna, you would be given a Beta and Gamma. we wanted to know if you would have us take does postions?"

"I'm not sure how it works, but I think they have a match, and the strongest or the one that comes out on top will be the winner. It's about giving everyone a fair chance."

Kyle says.

"But are you willing to fight in that tournament?"

I ask, and I see Mariah look away from me and back at Kyle.

"We are willing. We just want to stay by your side, Sitara. It's not going to be easy, but we are willing to try, and if that means I have to train and wear shorter acrylic nails, then so be it."

Mariah said.

"You're willing to give up your acrylic nails for me. ohhh, you are serious."

We all came together in a group hug, and I loved the feeling of comfort they gave me.

After lunch, I headed back to work. It was hectic the remainder of the afternoon as it's close to the holidays, so the younger wolves, mostly the ones that attend human schools, returned with the flu.

So that means half the pack came down with the virus and flooded the hospitals emergency room. After that, my cousin Tyler came to pick me up as he would be staying with us for a couple of days.

" So, it's been a day or two since I got here. When am I going to meet your twins?"

"They are supposed to be back Saturday, well tomorrow and then Sunday they should come by for lunch."

"Ohhh.. lunch I can't wait."

"I know you can't."

"How do you know am I that easy to read?"

" Yes, yes you are.:

"So, im assuming your wolf came in. Well, I mean, you found your mate, so you must have found your wolf."

"Yeah, I did, but she recently has been going silent on me now and again."

"That's good, that means she will be here soon. You would have your first shift soon."

"What do you mean it's coming soon?"

"When your wolf goes silent on you, it usually begins the hibanation period. From there, she would wake up a few weeks later, and you would have your very first shift. It wouldn't be easy to believe me. It would be one of the most painful things you will ever experience."

" Is there anything I could do to make it easier or to feel less pain?"

"I'll tell you what my mother and father told me, just breathe and let it pass."

"What does it feel like I heard you could hear your bones snapping and rubbing against each other?"

"Yeah, the most painful part is when it is snapping into place, it sounds like someone is smashing your body with a hammer."

"Are you trying to scare me, or is that how it really feels."

"That's how it really feels."

I immediately began to worry, my body started to shake, and it began shaking much more as I saw Kelly's mother standing in front of my door
