Kina was indeed a nagging woman, full of tricks. She made sure that Hades had danced with her longer than the natural time. After Kina was fully satisfied and made sure that everyone saw how great her bond was with King Hades, she didn't pester him any longer to dance with her.

" I thought, she was going to marry you here!", Arrax Domineco Keller teased Hades who had just gotten rid of Kina. Wearing a grim expression, he marched forward to take a seat beside Arrax.

Arrax took a sip from his wine, signaling the woman in his arms to leave. The young prominent lady just rolled her eyes irritated. She thought that Arrax would offer to fuck her like he does to many girls.

Hades snorted, leaning back against the couch to grab a can of beer,
" She was putting on an act so that everyone thinks that we share a good relationship. In that way, no one will dare to disobey her command in her village."

Arrax chuckled, taking a long sip from his beer until his eyes locked on the mysterious king, Radolf Dimitri Underwood. Radolf was way colder than anyone else in the room. It was always very hard to predict what was going on inside his mind. When Arrax saw that he was staring at a woman with a man in the distance, Arrax shook his head with a helpless smile. He groaned slightly, pointing at Radolf with his glass,
" You see that! His girl is already married to another man. Why must he act like such a pussy?"

Hades pulled his eyes back on Radolf and was capable of finding the deep pain behind his dark eyes. Because he lost his most beloved person too. Hence, Hades could relate to what was going on inside Radolf's mind. He only smiled sadly to think that Radolf could see his lover from a distance. He couldn't even see Amelia even if he wanted.

Talking about Amelia, Hades's consciousness kicked him hard. His head snapped around to find Edwina immediately. Searching all through the possible places, Hades couldn't find her anywhere.

Was she angry that he left her alone? Or was she pairing with another man?

The second one sounded bitter in his heart. His jaw clenched almost immediately. He turned to Arrax who was getting drunk slowly,
" Have you seen Edwina? The girl who came with me?"

Even Arrax didn't notice when Hades had gone outside. He looked around before replying absentmindedly,
" Ah..she was just here..Hey... where did she go? Perhaps, she has hooked up with some other guy from the party."

" Shut the fuck up!", Hades growled at his friend who just grinned big in response.

Edwina Rookwood would be dead if she had hooked up with another guy at this event!

Promising these words in his mind, Hades stormed outside to find every corner of the Villa house.

" Ace....", Edwina's voice broke, recognizing the familiar scent in her nostrils. The kiss lasted for a long while until Ace left her lips, breathing in comfort after seeing his mate. He nearly forgot how her smell was in the past.

Edwina couldn't believe her own eyes. Tears of happiness began to pour from her eyes. She felt paralyzed under his deep blue eyes. Ace stood there smiling down at his mate. His pitch-dark curls rested against his sweaty forehead, defining that he had run for a long time.

" Edwina...", he took her name affectionately. Even the sound of her name in his voice purred her wolf in happiness. They stood there, caressing each other's cheeks in silence as Edwina sobbed in silence. Edwina stood there with mixed feelings. At the time, she was happy to see Ace here. On the other hand, she noticed that his kiss didn't excite him like she felt with Hades. Perhaps, her wolf was stiff because of her long distance with Ace for a long time.

As if reality hit her hard, Edwina came back to her senses. Her eyes widened first in disbelief and then in horror before she made sure that the door was locked properly.

" What are you doing here, Ace? How did you find me? How did you get to this event?", Edwina spat her questions in a breath, her heart racing in nervousness. Hades would kill him once if he found Ace here with her.

Ace put a thumb on her quivering lips, assuring her with a big smile,
" Don't worry, I have learned to cover my smell, Edwina one can detect me. Axel went missing when he came to find you. I had no choice but to spy on King Hades. Then, I saw that you two were coming to this event."

Edwina explained quickly, keeping her tone as low as possible,
" Axel was caught by the king. Don't worry, I will find a way to get him out. But, you must go now, Ace. The king's people will kill you if they see you here with me."

Ace's expression was darkened, turning into killing intent as he growled through his gritted teeth,
" I wish that I could kill King Hades with my bare hands, Edwina. But right now, we have to make plans carefully. Your father is the subject of a crime. We must save our pack first."

Edwina nodded, agreeing with his thoughts. Her smile became adorable after she saw the sincerity in his words. That's what she loved about him. He put everyone else first before his happiness, her mate, and her pride.

Edwina hummed, clutching his hands to plead vulnerably,
" I know! We have to save my father first, Ace. Only I can rely on you on this earth. Please be on my father's side whenever he needs you."

Ace promised, bringing her head closer to put her head on his chest,
" I promise..I promise..but now listen to me and do what I said.. Take this drug with you."

Edwina dropped her eyes to her palms to see a black poly bag in her clutch. She furrowed, looking up at Ace questioning. Ace continued, rubbing her cheeks affectionately,
" This drug can kill anyone from an overdose within a night. You must ensure that King Hades takes this drug fully."

Edwina gasped in horror, her brows tightening in puzzlement. She blurted impatiently,
" No..No.. What are you saying, Ace? We can't kill a king. Besides, why must we kill King Hades? You can just help my father prove his innocence. In that way, I will be free from his captivity. There is no reason to kill him."

Ace wasn't happy with her words. He thought that Edwina would be eager to revoke King Hades from this world. He clutched her shoulders tightly, gritting his words out to look into her eyes ferociously,
" What's wrong with you, Edwina? He is a fucking maniac who has taken a girl to avenge his dead mate. Wait....are you somehow pitying him now?"

Edwina's heart skipped a beat after her mate's accusation. The truth was far worse than his question. No matter what circumstances she came to Hades, she couldn't think about betraying him or harming him. Yes, she hated him, hated him so much that she wanted to slap him countless times for giving her mixed feelings. She had a mate, a soulmate, a soon-to-be husband. How could she feel pity, and care for another man who meant nothing to her in the beginning? Why did she compare Ace's kiss with Hades's touch when he never made love to her actually, only fucked for his pleasure and revenge?

But Edwina couldn't say those words out loud. Her mother told her once that it was okay to lie sometimes when it comes to saving a relationship. She lied, dropping her eyes down hesitantly,
" No...I...I just feel that..he is innocent..why must we kill him..."

God knew how much her heart wrenched when she spelled the word 'kill'. Ace gave her a radiant smile, leaning down to kiss her lips one more time,
" I trust you.."

But Edwina dodged his kiss swiftly this time. She just didn't feel aroused in this tense moment anymore. She put a palm on his chest, putting a slight space between them to urge him seriously,
" Ace...you should leave now...We are already wasting a lot of time here.. anyone can walk in here.."

Ace furrowed his eyes disappointed. He admitted that he didn't treat her like a mate in the past but he wanted to have sex with her here. When he saw her in this sexy dress for the first time at Moon Gala, all he wanted was to fuck her right there.

Before he could express his manly desire, the lock of the bathroom door began to move urgently from outside as if someone was trying to unlock the door. Next, Edwina heard the least expected voice at this moment,
" Edwina....Are you inside? Edwina...Open the fucking door..."
