Saving Her
Saving Her
Lucifer
“For fucks sake!” I gently shook Uriel, the black ash falling out of her shining hair. Her body was covered with the filth, all the dirt and sin from Kronos had consumed her body. “Someone do something?!” I had never felt more helpless in my life, my mate in my arms, the light in her soul fading far faster than I wanted to.
Her breaths were slow, barely there, the rise in her chest becoming shallower. “Hecate!” I screamed for her to come near. The gods parted, looking down at us both with tears in her eyes.
“I—” she began but I quickly yelled at her. “Don’t you say you can’t help!” Boiling tears ran down my cheeks, dripping onto Uriel’s skin. “Don’t you dare!” Hecate walked backwards; her hands folded over her lap backing away.
My eyes searched the crowd. “Athena!” my voice cracked, many gods and goddesses looking away in pain. Even they couldn’t look upon my mate, the pitiful sniffles, their weeping faces did not know what I felt. My soul was breaking, my Uriel was fading fast only for her soul to join amongst the stars.
Athena walked forward, daring to kneel beside me. Putting her hand on my shoulder, the sympathy in her eyes only told me one thing. She could do nothing. “NO!” I roared, bringing Uriel’s body closer to me. Her neck lacking any support, I held it to my chest, grabbing her face to look into my eyes.
“Come on bunny,” I whispered in her ear. “You can’t leave me, not now.” Burying my nose into her neck, it smelled nothing but sulfur and sin. I kissed her neck, anyway, trailing it until I saw her beautiful, chapped lips. It was the only part of her body not charred with black.
“I will see you soon,” I petted her hair. “Because I can’t live without you, not ever, not ever,” I shook my head, my tears falling on her ashen cheeks.
Hera and Michael sat at the feet of my mate, Hera’s sobs barely drowning out my own. Michael held onto Hera with one arm, and another hand on his daughter’s ankle. Vulcan had one of her hands, rubbing his thumb across Uriel’s flaking black knuckles.
The cries continued. It could have been hours, but my mother knelt down beside me, taking her finger, brushing the messy hair from my face. “You’ve mated,” she whispered. “I can see that now that my power is returning.” Her tiny whisper pulled down the front part of Uriel’s dress, exposing my mark.
“We haven’t had time to enjoy each other,” my voice cracked. “I always wanted her even when I didn’t know I did.” Gazing into Uriel’s charred face, my body pulled her head close. Cupping her cheek, I put my lips to the only skin that was left uncharred.
Ready to feel the calloused lips feel cold from since the warmth was leaving her body, they only warmed. Pulling back, the charred ash around her lips faded. Mother gripped my shoulder. “Kiss her more,” she urged. “More!”
Not hesitating, my lips slammed back to Uriel. I didn’t just leave my lips on hers; I kissed those lips with an unabated breath. Sucking her lips, pulling whatever evil tainted her soul. Her face warmed. My eyes slid open seeing her beautiful face having the ash flake away. Rubbing her face, more flakes fell away from her.
Rosey cheeks, fluttering lashes, her face had become completely clear. I wanted to pull my lips away, see the beautiful face before me, the face that has haunted me since the first day I laid eyes upon her. I dare not let go, not until I take every bit of evil away from her.
Gasps were heard through the crowd, Hera screaming for joy as I felt Uriel’s arms come around me. Her fingers ran through my hair until she fully gripped hold of my neck. Utter joy ran through my body, the bond burning bright into my chest. There was no damn way I was going to let go, I would never let my lips leave hers again so she would stay alive.
Here, in my arms, is where she will stay. Never again will I let her out of my sight, never leave her for any danger and touch no one with evil. I will snuff out the evil that dare try to take her away from me.
Uriel giggled, trying to push me away, but I held on tighter. Her heavy sigh let me force my tongue into her mouth, tasting every part of her. The sulfur had lifted from her body, the rotting stench now covered by gardenias and vanilla. My mate was here, she was moving, her heartbeat in her chest. My hands roamed her body, feeling the softness of her skin. The top she wore was pushed aside so I could feel the tempting curves of her body.
By the fates, she was alive.
“Luci,” mother nudged me. “There are other people present,” she whispered.
“Tell them to close their eyes,” I mumbled, ready to grab ahold of Uriel’s breasts. Continued throat clearing had Uriel stop kissing me and I pulled away only to look her those golden eyes.
“You’re here,” I whispered in her mouth. “Never do that again.” My bunny’s shy face shook her head, her curls coming down her face.
“I won’t, I’m sorry.” I pecked her lips, clenching her to my body. Mother nudged me again. “I think her parents would like to see her.” I growled, holding onto Uriel.
“She’s mine,” my body covered Uriel, kissing her up her neck. Uriel petted my hair as I kept my face buried to her shoulder.
“Hi,” Uriel’s hand left my hair to wave at her parents that held her feet. “Are you guys okay?” She muttered. Hera cried out, now holding onto Uriel and me, her father followed all of us in one gigantic pile of gods.
“You scared us so much, my sweet,” Hera petted her hair. “I’m so sorry for everything.” Michael kissed Uriel’s cheek, his wings engulfing the lot of us. I grumbled, not liking the feeling of other bodies on top of me.
“I’m fine now,” Uriel rubbed her eyes. “Luci saved me.”
Sitting up, still having Uriel on my lap, my arms stayed around her while the other gods continued to watch. “No, Uriel, you saved me. From the very beginning, you saved me.” Uriel and I stared at each other, our hands cupping each other’s faces.
“What just happened?” Poseidon stood over us, filled with curiosity. “How was Lucifer able to suck the evil from her?” Mother stood; father’s arms wrapped around her while Lillith slept in the crook of father’s arm.
“Once you are bonded, you can take on some abilities of your partner. That is why Hades can turn into a wolf.” Poseidon shook his head in disbelief. “I know nothing of bonds then,” Poseidon chuckled. “They seem strange.”
“And you should know more about them,” Parisa nudged Poseidon, who only raised a brow. Mother had her way with her bonding secrets, and I recognized that spark in her smile.
“It’s interesting,” Athena touched Uriel’s skin. “That it took Lucifer’s lips to pull the evil out and it barely bothered his body. It was like you ultimately destroyed the evil inside her once it was pulled from her body.” Athena’s finger touched my arms, they did not hold the darkness that Uriel had on her body. “The God of Destruction can destroy the evil in his mate.”
“So, I can suck out evil with my hands, and then Luci can suck the evil out of me with his mouth,” Uriel said cheerfully.
“That’s what she said.” Loki sauntered up, still spitting feathers from his mouth. Mother pulled him into a hug.
“My big boy!” Loki now stood a head taller than mother, his horns now permanently on top of his head. “You have a Raven!” Athena stood by in the corner, even with her disheveled look, torn clothes, and bare feet she pulled a notebook from her suit jacket and continue writing things down. Shaking my head, I pulled Uriel into my arms.
The entire palace was in shambles, the roof had fallen in, black tar lay on the floor, and hunks of stone lay out in the open. With the evil of Kronos now vanished, it would take time to repair what was left.
Angels had already begun cleaning out the throne room, Celestial Fairies using their magic to repair the small cracks in the floors. The one thing in the room left untouched was the body of Zeus.
We had all been too worried about Uriel, worried she would perish along with me since we had left the body lying in the middle of the floor. A hand flopped on the floor from Zeus’ body, still covered in the tar-like substance that held him to the floor. Not to mention the sword going through his head.
“I have a splitting headache,” he groaned, trying to move his head. “There is a fucking sword in my head! Get it out!” His arms waved around. Hades chuckled, walking barefoot across the floor, pulling it out with one swipe.
“Damn, you could have warned me.” Rubbing his forehead, the wound began to close, as well as his chest. The once grey beard that Kronos had donned him was back to the white blonde. His bright blue eyes are now able to see the surrounding room.
“What the fuck just happened? Did I miss a party?” His shoulders slumped. “I know I’ve been a terrible god all these years, but I swear I’m trying. Not getting invited hurts.” his head slumped while his elbows rested on his knees. Hera, being graceful in her movements went to Zeus, she pulled on his hand to help him stand.
Michael’s dislike for his mate touching a former partner didn’t go unnoticed, and Zeus backed away with respect. “Your body was taken over by Kronos,” Hera said softly. Zeus coughed, rubbing his chest as the rest of his body healed.
“Fates,” he cursed. “I, I did not know. The last thing I remember was Uriel helping me.” Zeus smiled at Uriel, who waved shyly. “Then I went through the portal, and that is the last I remember.”
“Kronos’ spirit entangled into your soul,” Athena explained. “And I am afraid we are not done with Kronos just yet. Lucifer may have destroyed the connection, but you need a body and a soul to exterminate him.”
Uriel grabbed onto my wings, pulling them around her body. I shook, feeling the sensation her fingers felt on my feathers. Now that I got her back, I needed her more than ever.
Her heartbeat rapidly in her chest, feeling the flutters of fear had my anger rise within me again. Hades pulled Zeus to the throne, both side by side for the first time in centuries.
“With your permission, brother, I say we take a trip to Tartarus and end this.” Zeus’ face went over the crowd, they all now watched the High God in a different light as father gave a blessing for Zeus to rule, yet again.
Zeus gritted his teeth, nodding his head in agreement. “To Tartarus, to destroy the threat of the gods.”
