Dinning with Eleanor

Dinning with Eleanor
“What are you doing here?” Morgan Daniels fired with a frown on her face.

Audrey was becoming a pest. After the little stunt she pulled on New Year’s Eve, she promised to back down. She had even gone as far to promise that, that night was the last night Morgan was going to see her. But here she was, standing in her office.

“Relax, I just came to say goodbye”

Oh! Well, then that’s great.

“Okay. Bye” was all Morgan mumbled. She didn’t know what else to say.

“I know you must hate me after what happened on New Year’s Eve, and although I apologized, I just thought I should do so one last time before I leave for good” she clarifies

“That’s thoughtful of you Audrey, but it’s all in the past,”

"I know. But that's not the only reason why I want to apologize" she adds, making Morgan frown.

What was she talking about now?

"What do you mean?" Morgan furrowed her brows in confusion. Something about the way Audrey smiled screamed mischief. Something was off, but what?

Before Morgan could process what was occurring, Audrey threw herself at the dark-haired, taking her aback. It all happened too fast. Morgan quickly pushed her away, but not before the door to her office flew open and she heard the shutter of the camera go off.

"What the fuck Audrey, what do you think you're doing?" Morgan Daniels asked, rage flowing through her entire body as she stood up.

Audrey had an amused look on her face as she wiped her lips.

"Why on earth would you even do that? What is wrong with you?"

Instead of getting a reply, Audrey burst into a fit of giggle, tripling Morgan's anger.

"How stupid of you to think I will just let you go without having my revenge on you," she mocked, the sweet Audrey from earlier, disappearing.

"Revenge? What the hell do you mean? What did I do to you?" Morgan couldn't comprehend it. You take revenge on someone when they hurt you, but to the best of her knowledge, that was never the case with Audrey.

"You did everything Morgan, everything. You made me fall in love with you, just to diss me in the end like a piece of rag" she yelled, venom spilling out of her mouth.

What was she blabbing on about?

"What are you talking about Audrey? I was honest with you from the beginning. We agreed to have casual sex and that was it. You even suggested it. I never did anything to suggest that I wanted something more with you"

"This is all your fault. You led me on, just to dispose of me like I was a nobody. There is no way I'll let you be happy with Maia. All of this banter was just to sway you so we could have the pictures edited and sent to your precious little airhead. Karma is a bitch" she finalised and stormed out of the office.

Morgan Daniels fell back on her seat, her head suspending itself in her hands. Sleeping around finally caught up with her. Audrey took pictures of something that did not even happen and was going to use them to ruin her relationship and peace of mind.

Fuck! Maia. Morgan picked up her car keys and stormed out of her office.

Audrey always seemed kind and lovely. One time Morgan even suggested that they make things official so she get Maia off her mind. She had refused and the dark-haired remembered what she said words for words.

"Morgan, you are a womaniser. You sleep around a lot. Why will I put myself through that?"

Her words stung a little, but in the end, Morgan realised what a fatal mistake that would have been.

Morgan took her words and decided to back out, so how come Audrey was blaming her for something she rightfully said she didn't want?

Audrey was no doubt crazy.

Morgan stepped on the gas pedal, not giving a damn about being stopped for speeding.

She parked her car and quickly rushed into the lobby. Morgantook a bend for the stairs, skipping two steps at a time to get to her apartment.

She pushed the door open in an abrupt manner, causing Maia to look at her with confusion in her eyes.

"Babe is everything okay,"

"Uh....yes,"

Once Morgan was standing before the young girl, she took the time to study her, looking for anything to hint that she may have received whatever picture Audrey threatened to send.

"Why are you staring at me like that? Are you sure you're okay" Maia questioned, taking Morgan's face in her hand.

"Okay, what was that? You never flinch whenever I try to touch you" she says more sternly this time as she retreated with her hand.

"No, no. It's nothing, I'm sorry baby" Morgan leaned in towards the brunette and placed a light kiss on her lips.

Morgan pulled back, feeling Maia's gaze on her, studying her girlfriend with suspicion in her eyes.

"Mmmm" was all she said.

Awkwardly, Morgan got up from the couch and walked into the room. Closing the door behind her, she was finally able to breathe out of relief.

Audrey was just fucking with her.

She had not sent any pictures to Maia. Maia isn't one to hide her emotions, so if she had received that picture, Morgan may as well be dead.

The sound of Morgan's ringing phone had her fishing through her pocket for her phone, answering the call without even looking.

“I bet you ran out of there and rushed home,” The voice says, sending shivers down the dark-haired's spine. Morgan stood frozen on the spot, unable to move an inch.

“What do you want Audrey? Haven’t you done enough”

The other end of the line is quiet for a while, making Morgan wonder if the call was still on going. But her question was answered Audrey suddenly burst into a fit of laughter.

“Oh, but I am just getting started. Watch your back” the call ends before Morgan could even reply.

Her knuckles were in a fist, almost getting white, as she cursed out. She paced up and down the room, wondering when and how she'd gotten herself into this mess, and what she could do to walk out of it.

If that picture got to Maia, she would never forgive her.

Morgan's phone rang again, making her blood boil. What did Audrey want again?

“What now?” was the first thing she said once she hit the answer button without looking at the caller ID.

“Wow, calm down. It’s just me” Jonah Righetti spoke on the other end, making Morgan instantly relax.

“Oh! hi Jonah"

“Is everything okay? You sound tensed” he says.

“Yeah, I’m alright. What’s up?”

“Uh, nothing much. Laiba just went to sleep. I called to ask if you have had the time to go through the business proposal?” he asks.

“Uh… yeah. Although I haven’t read it till the end, it sounds promising. I think we should risk it” Morgan ruffled her hair.

“That’s great,” he replied. The excitement in his voice did not go unnoticed by Morgan

“Hey, are you sure you’re okay? You know you can talk to me right” he says with worry in his voice.

Morgan let out a sigh. Jonah had a lot on his plate already and she didn’t want to add to it.

“I know, but I’m okay. I promise, I’m just tired is all”

“Okay then, say hi to Maia for me and have a good night,” he says

“Thank you and good night,” the call ended and immediately, Maia's voice filled the room.

“Was that Jonah?”

Morgan gasped. How did she get in unnoticed?

“Uh yeah. He says Hi”

“Mmmh,” she says. Morgan felt Maia's intense gaze on her. Every movement, every action, her gaze followed. It made the dark-haired nervous

“Are you sure you’re okay Morgan? You’ve been jumpy since you returned from the club"

“Yeah, I’m alright. Just tired is all. A warm bath will do me some good" she was already walking into the bathroom.

"So you're saying between you two it was just sex?" Nayelli questioned.

"Yeah, at some point I wanted to take it further, but she declined" Morgan explained.

"And now she wants revenge because you apparently led her on?" she asks, and again, Morgan nodded.

"Then let her do her worst. It's just pictures and that can be interpreted in so many ways, and Maia won't be so stupid to act on a picture without hearing your side of the story" she says.

She had a point.

Morgan Daniels never thought of all people, she was going to come to Eleanor for advice. She hadn't slept a wink last night, trying to think of a solution. This morning, after she dropped Maia at school, she called Eleanor.

Of course, Morgan was a bit wary of letting the girl in her life like that, but sitting here, and listening to her, Morgan realised she made the right choice coming to her.

Eleanor asked to meet her at a food pub not far from the University.

"You're right, I'm just worried over nothing"

"Worrying can be good too, it shows that you really like her," Eleanor says, offering the dark-haired a smile.

"Like? I love her"

"That's cute" she teases, sipping her smoothie.

Morgan contemplates her next words. She didn't want Eleanor to be the first to know, but Morgan had this sudden need to share it with her.

"We got engaged on new year's eve" she gushed, a wide smile creeping into her face.

"No way!" Eleanor exclaimed, her mouth wide open

"Yes, way. No one knows yet, well asides Janata, but I plan on informing them this Saturday during my birthday party"

"Oh, I am so happy for you Morgan," she says, her eyes getting watery with emotion.

"Thank you, Eleanor. She really makes me happy and ill be darned if I lose that over some photoshopped pictures"

"You won't, I promise" she encouraged, taking Morgan's hand in hers from across the table.

"So, tell me about you".

"Oh, what can I say?" she began, wiping the corner of her eye "As you already know, I'm in the process of taking full ownership of the Hotel, it belonged to my parents and they handed it over to me upon their dead," she says, her voice pained.

"Oh, I'm sorry for your loss,"

"It's okay" she replies, trying to mask the hurt in her voice.

"If you don't mind me asking, how did they die?"

"In a car accident, with my fiancée," she says, playing with the straw of her smoothie

"My God, that's horrible,"

Morgan knew from the way Eleanor constantly smiled that she was trying to hide her pain. Sometimes, it felt like she could barely keep it together, but she fought against breaking down amid people. Who would have thought the behind her beautiful smile, held a lot of pain?

Morgan smiled, knowing that she wouldn't want any sympathy.

"Yeah, but it is what it is. The only thing consoling me is the fact that I know they are in a better place" she says with a smile.

Eleanor was one hell of a woman. She was probably the bravest woman Morgan ever met and her respect for the girl had just skyrocketed
