CHAPTER 41
LUCY
I suddenly woke up to the immediate feeling of having to vomit. I quickly make my way over to the bucket she gave me to use the bathroom in and vomit several times in the bucket. Did the food from last night not sit right with my stomach? Did she poison my food? I don’t know what is going on but I won’t eat anything else she brings me.
Last night was a mistake on my part eating what she brought me but I won’t make that mistake again. I hear footsteps headed toward me and the door swings open as she looks down at the bucket.
“I am sorry, can I get a towel or something?”
She laughs, “You think I am going to help clean you up? You can sit in that and smell it until Adam comes home to me. You are my bargaining chip and that is why I will keep you alive and fed. But I will not clean you up and make sure you are clean. You can lay there in your filth for as long as it takes because I don’t care about you.”
“Why are you doing this? What did I ever do to you?”
She snickers, “What did you do to me? You stole my man! Adam is mine and I came here to get him back. Once I got to town and saw him living in your house and watching you be all over him and your husband I lost it. But I noticed you guys never went out anywhere so I started following all of you. Which is when I found out your husband Travis is a lawyer. So what did he want to keep Adam a secret?”
“It wasn’t like that we are both in love with Adam. Travis was just trying to protect us from the wrong people finding out!”
She scoffs, “If you truly love somebody you wouldn’t keep him hidden. But then I kept watching and followed you guys to the club. I watched from afar and never let Adam see me. But I kept a close eye on all three of you that night. Once I saw you guys enter the private rooms, that is when I knew I needed to take action. That is why I left the threat in your car and I was hoping you would take it seriously.”
“It didn’t scare me and none of us could figure out why you sent it!”
“I sent it because you needed to let him go! He doesn’t belong with you! He belongs with me and once I saw you guys get all dressed up and leave the house the other night I knew you three were going to the club! That is why I actually took action and kidnapped you!”
I feel it coming up again and I lean over the bucket and vomit several more times. This hurts more than anything and I really hope she didn’t poison me!
She laughs, “What is wrong with you? What, are you pregnant?”
I look her in the eyes and think back to the several times Travis never wore a condom. Fuck, I really hope not because I can’t be pregnant right now. I need to be home with them now if I am.
She stands up and grabs my face, “You better hope that if you are that it isn’t Adam’s because if it is I will kill your baby.”
TRAVIS
Adam finished eating his food and the doctor came in and is shocked he is awake this soon. The doctor took him for a few scans just to make sure everything is good to go and he didn’t have anything severely damaged. Luckily everything came back clean and they want to keep him another night for observation.
Her dad speaks, “Not to be insensitive but we need to get the ball rolling to get Lucy back. Did you happen to see the woman that attacked you?”
Adam shakes his head, “No, I didn’t it all happened so fast and I was just trying to get Lucy to the car. The last thing I remember is opening the door for her and then I woke up here earlier. I am sorry but that is all I got.”
“It is okay honey. I am having a buddy from the office bring the photos of the video surveillance we got from the club and hopefully you can identify her.”
He grabs my hand, “I don’t know anybody that could do this and hell I don’t even understand what she wants. All I know is I need out of this bed so we can go find her. Hell why haven’t you left to go search for her?”
“Babe, I knew that if I did I would cause more of a problem than a solution. I also couldn’t leave your side until you were awake. Also, Will knows some people in the FBI and CIA and they found some stuff out about her.”
His eyes widen as he looks at Will, “What did you find out?”
Will steps closer, “Well for starters she has it out for you but it doesn’t explain why she hurt you. Her phone she was using only has been active the past few months in this area. Most of her locations were the house and all three job locations and the club.”
Adam’s head drops, “Why take Lucy then? She should have just knocked me out and taken me. Why take her? What is her motive?”
“That we can’t figure out and we can’t figure out where she went. Her location got dropped after she left the city because they tracked her via traffic cameras. But, other than her photo, that is all we have.”
He nods, “Well to be honest I hope I know her so we can get to the bottom of this but I also hope I don’t know her for the sake of my sanity.”
“Honey, if you do know her or don’t know her we will get her back. We have people everywhere looking for her and I know we both want to be out there looking for her but we can’t. We need to let them handle it the right and legal way. I know with how angry I am I will end up killing somebody.”
There is a knock on the door and my buddy from the office steps in.
“Hey man! You got those photos?”
He nods, “Yes, I do. Here you go and also in there is the latest update we have on her. We still haven’t gotten a name or where she is from. But, we happened to go back a little bit and get some better pictures of her.”
“Thank you man!”
I take the file over to Adam and start pulling out the photos as I hand them over to him. They are frame by frame from the other night and he winces as he sees the weapon hit him on the head. The next picture is of her and she is a blonde slender woman about the same height as Lucy.
Adam clears his throat, “Ummm Travis, this is my ex.”
“Your ex, what do you mean?”
He looks at me, “This is my ex from North Carolina. This is Camille.”
