Chapter 1 Nightmare

Night.

She could hear a man's heavy breathing in her ear and thought she could just barely listen to what he was saying through a mist.

"Don't!"

Suzette Lam exclaimed suddenly, waking up from the nightmare, she also woke her husband, Camden Snow, who was lying beside her.

"What are you doing again? I still have to get up early to work tomorrow. If you won't sleep, go out and sleep elsewhere." Camden's tone was dreadful, and he seemed very dissatisfied with his wife.

"I'm sorry, Camden, I had another nightmare." Suzette said while raising her hand to caress her stomach. She was six months pregnant.

"Why did you do such a disgusting thing? You deserve that," He sneered.

His attitude was not like a husband's should be.

Tears welled in her eyes, but she left the room without saying a word.

Having awoken from a nightmare, she couldn't get back to sleep.

She sighed, poured herself a glass of water, and sat silently on the sofa.

Before she was pregnant, Suzette had a stable job. She was a good worker, with her unlimited potential, she could go really high in her career with a bright future.

But a banquet had changed her life suddenly.

Because of work, Suzette often had to socialize with coworkers and clients. In the process, she had herself an excellent drinking skill.

She still remembered that day. She had drunk too much wine, so she told the manager she was going to the hotel to rest.

When she took out the room card to open the door, a tall man suddenly appeared behind her. Before Suzette could react, she was pushed into the room by the man and fell to the bed.

What followed would haunt her dreams and change her for the rest of her life.

But life goes on, even after what happened.

God's cruel humor had left her pregnant, and for the child, she didn't know who the father was. Suzette had reconsidered as she sat on the bench in front of the obstetrics and gynecology department, preparing to end this little life. And she hesitated. She ran home like crazy and cried in her room for a whole day.

In the end, she made up her mind to give birth to this child anyway. After all, it was a life, and she couldn't deprive it of its right to live.

Suzette had already prepared to be a single mother. Still, after being convinced by her bestie, she also felt that she should find a father for her child. After all, she had grown up with no father and mother and deeply felt how miserable life was without parents.

Her girlfriends introduced her to Camden.

This marriage had been a profitable transaction. Before marriage, Suzette promised to give Camden a house and a car, both under his name. She only hoped that he could be a good father and take care of her child. Camden agreed happily at the time. She was looking forward to giving her child a better future, but a lot had changed after she married.

Not only that, but there was also another critical factor that made her suspect that marrying Camden was absolutely a mistake.

After another night of nightmares, with Camden having such an attitude again, and Suzette was totally exhausted.

She got up from the sofa and was going to spend the night in the guest room downstairs.

When she arose, there was a sharp scream in her ear.

"Ah!"

Frightened, she turned on the light in panic. A shocked, middle-aged woman was in front of her. In the light, the acidulous and bitter face of her were getting more and more clear.
