The Queen Mother's Suspicions
The Queen Mother's Suspicions
“What are you doing here, General Marcelino Enzo?” asked Stevan, who was now in front of Alexandra. His facial expression showed discomfort towards his rival.
“I just want to visit the second palace and take a walk,” answered Enzo with a sweet smile.
Alexandra, who heard the king call the man in front of her ‘general’, was very surprised. She thought that the man was just an ordinary servant like her. It turned out she was wrong. She deeply regretted being rude to him.
“Really?” said Stevan, not believing the words of the talented general. Now he shifted his focus to looking at Alexandra. His gaze was now fixed on the bottle of blood she was holding. His brow immediately frowned. “What is this?” he asked, snatching the bottle from her hand.
“It was a gift from me. I happen to have a lot of fresh tiger blood in stock. So I deliberately shared it with Alexandra and some of my close friends,” said Enzo honestly.
“Close friends? Since when did you know her?” asked Stevan, looking at Enzo with an unfriendly gaze.
“I’ve only known her for two days,” answered Enzo.
Suddenly, Stevan grinned. He then handed the bottle of blood back to Alexandra. "Drink! You should appreciate General Marcelino's good intentions. This blood looks very fresh. You should try it soon," he said while holding back laughter, seeing Alexandra's stunned face hearing his words.
Alexandra widened her eyes. She did not hesitate to stare at the king's face with a sharp gaze. "Is he crazy to tell me to drink this very fishy blood?" she thought to herself.
"Why are you just keeping quiet?" asked Stevan with a mocking smile.
"How about this fresh blood for the king? I am very willing to give this to you," said Alexandra, while handing the bottle she was holding to Stevan.
"No. I don't want to. You are very presumptuous to me." Stevan glared at Alexandra, making the woman not dare to say another word, and ended up lowering her face down. He then looked back at Enzo. "If there is nothing you need here anymore, go back to your place!" he said with a serious look. The smile that had previously adorned his face now disappeared just like that.
"Then I will go first, King." Enzo saluted the king, then left.
Stevan glanced at Alexandra, who was still looking down. "Why are you just keeping quiet?"
Alexandra let out a heavy breath. She couldn't understand the king's way of thinking. "If I spoke, the king would accuse me of being presumptuous. But if I keep quiet, the king will ask why. Very confusing," Alexandra sneered, making Morgan and Jolla chuckle softly at the argument between her and the king.
"Ah, enough. I don't want to argue with you," said Stevan, taking a deep breath. He suddenly snatched the bottle of blood from Alexandra's hand.
"Why did the king snatch it from me?" asked Alexandra in surprise.
"This blood is for Morgan to drink. Besides, you can't possibly drink it," said Stevan, immediately giving it to his personal guard.
"Very inconsistent," Alexandra sneered in a low voice.
"What did you say?" Stevan stared at Alexandra's face intensely.
"Nothing," replied Alexandra, smiling, showing off her neat teeth.
"Never accept gifts from anyone except me. You must remember that!" said Stevan threateningly.
"Does the king love me so much that he acts possessive like this?" Alexandra thought while smiling at herself. For some reason she was so happy to see the king showing his jealousy. However, she immediately looked away when she realized that she was being watched by other servants around her.
"Why are you smiling?" Stevan moved his face forward, making her move her face back. Without saying anything else, Alexandra immediately left without paying her respects to the king. Jolla, who saw it, was just stunned because the attitude of the woman she considered her biological daughter was quite bold towards the king.
"Forgive her for what she did, King." Jolla lowered her face, afraid that the king would be angry.
"Okay, no problem. She's used to being like that to me. Nothing new. You don't need to apologize. How are things going here?" Stevan glanced to his right. He knew someone was monitoring him now. He then gave Jolla a code not to speak. “Take good care of her while she's there. Never be afraid of anyone as long as you both are in the right position. Later I will tell Morgan to monitor the conditions here," whispered Stevan near Jolla.
"Thank you, King. I will carry out your orders," answered Jolla, then Stevan and Morgan left first.
A female lycan hiding behind a tree was still watching Jolla's movements. "What did the king say to that woman? I couldn't hear him at all," she muttered.
Jolla looked here and there. However, she didn't find anything suspicious. There were only a few servants who were busy doing their respective tasks. "I had to take extra care of Alexandra. Anyone who dares to disturb her will be fought by me, even if it is the empress dowager, because this is the king's order." She immediately left the courtyard area of the second palace.
In a room, the empress dowager was staring at the food served on the table. "Are you sure Alexandra likes this food?" Regina asked, staring in surprise at the meat that was prepared with various ingredients that were very foreign to her. Even the pungent smell of the food made her dizzy.
"Yes. I am sure, Queen Mother. I have long watched Jolla prepare the food for Alexandra," answered a servant from the first palace that Regina had deliberately prepared to always monitor Alexandra's movements, and now she had called her to the second palace.
"Very strange. This is the first time I've seen food like this. Where is the medicine from the palace doctor?" said Regina, who looked very enthusiastic.
"Here, the empress dowager." Her personal maid handed over a small bottle. Regina took it and immediately mixed the medicinal concoction into the food.
"After this, I hope there will be no more parasites that disturb the king's well-being," Regina muttered while stirring the food that had been given a potion of abortion medicine.
A few minutes later, the queen mother's personal servant approached Alexandra. She observed the situation and conditions around her before actually approaching her. Alexandra, who was busy cleaning the central room of the palace. After making sure the situation was safe, she started to act.
"Hi, Alexandra. Jolla just left this to give to you," said the queen mother's personal maid.
Alexandra frowned. She was surprised why Jolla handed something to the queen mother's personal maid. "Oh, okay. Thanks." She took the wooden box from the maid's hand.
"Okay, bye." The maid immediately left, leaving Alexandra looking confused.
"What is this?" she muttered. Alexandra, who started to open the box in her hands. Both of her eyes immediately bulged when she knew what was inside the box. "Does she know?" she muttered softly, looking restless. She then went to her bedroom so that no one would know what she was carrying.
