Reyna’s P.O.V

A few days passed after the second dinner party. But, I still couldn't forget River’s father's vicious plan against me and why my father is used as a threat.

Currently, I was in the office with a pile of files waiting for me. However, my mind was in those words as if they kept roaming around my head like a bird.

'I am going to use that precious part as the engagement token.' No matter what I do, it becomes impossible for me to forget those words. The more I thought about it, the more frustrated I became.

I never really expected Pattson to be kind toward me, still, for some secret reason, it hurts so bad.

On one hand, I desperately wanted the relic for myself and on the other hand, I didn't want to get married to any of his sons. Not the one arranged by Pattson.

It's not a marriage for her but a selling programme and reconcile Tools! I felt like a product preparing for the highest bid for both father and son's dilemma.

Even if it didn't matter to me, even if  River and I had something together. Sex couldn't be the stroke of marriage, right? It's just a few nights we shared together, more precisely two nights and that's it. Also, none of them happened to me with proper sanity. So, it could be kept out of sight.

River and Ryger is the only Heir of Mr Pattson and heir of the group which Mr Pattson wants back at any cost.Yes, this fact has confused me over time! And even though I had thought about the possibility of twins being strange and it was shut down completely after my quest.

In this confusion of personality, I didn't even know whether to hope they will accept me! Because if River is not free with me again he is becoming mysterious,  today he wants me  tomorrow he is nowhere to be found  and I would be forced to marry in Either him or his twin. If no one, then his father would do it for sure!

Why can't Mr Pattson find peace with his son himself? Why is the Wave Family involved in the whole situation? What did Mr Pattson hold against my Dad that gave him right to my mother Relic?

Everything stays in confusion and the biggest tension for me was the other part of the relic. I needed to get it no matter what it cost.

"Penny for your thoughts, Miss Parker?"

The sudden voice startled me out of my thoughts as I looked beside, only to find Kevin staring at me with frictional amusement.

I shook my head. "Nothing. Just thinking how am I going to finish all this." I changed the topic pointing at the stack.

"Sometimes I really feel bad for you, Reyna. Is this worth your hard work?" Kevin said

I smiled sweetly. "Getting the chance to do what I want to do is priceless. I can't let go of this chance." I replied

Kevin nodded in understanding. "Well, you are right..." His words broke in the middle when the intercom on my desk started ringing.

Excusing myself, I picked up the call. " Reyna Parker speaking from the Petronas department. How can I help you?"

"Hello, Miss Reyna. This is Vivian Xander, the assistant of the new CEO. I want to inform you that our boss has arranged a meeting and you have been picked to attend with your supervisor." The lady from the opposite side announced.

I gasped in silence. I was surprised and confused at the news. "Umm... Ma'am, are you sure it's me who you invited? I am just an New intake here.”

"You are Reyna Parker, right?" She asked for confirmation.

"Yes, that's me. But..." I was still in a daze.

"Then it's surely you Miss Reyna. The meeting is tomorrow and you are picked to join the meeting. Hope to see you tomorrow, Miss Reyna. Have a nice day." With that, the woman hung up the phone.

Noticing my astonishment, Kevin couldn't help but ask. "What happened?"

I blinked a few times. "I... I am invited to join the important meeting tomorrow. The new boss has picked me!?"

"Wow, congratulations! Isn't that great news? Why are you upset?!" Kevin sounded excited for me.

"I am not upset but... Shocked." I stated.

"Hey, you have been doing great. I am sure your hard work is going to pay off soon." He encouraged Me.

"Yeah, I guess so. Thanks,Kevin." I thanked him with a soft smile. "I don't know exactly why I got the chance, but I have to appreciate it. Now, I need to prepare for it." I told myself.

The next day, I reached the office where I got to know that we were invited to reach the new boss's mansion.

"In the mansion?" I asked to confirm it more.

My Ceo Vivian Xander nodded. "Yes, Reyna. In his mansion. What I am sensing is that he is going to examine the perfumers. You have been selected too and I am glad for you. Still, you need to be cautious. You are gifted with your smelling sense, put it to use when it's needed." She advised me.

"Yes, ma’am." I nodded.

I was somewhat grateful to this woman who didn't bother about the major I had but appreciated her talent in this genre. She was the one who took me into the company as a special case and every advantage comes with a price, and I have earned some enemies in the company.

Soon, the listed people arrived at the new boss's mansion, and directly they were led to the huge garden.

I gasped in amazement like others.

The whole garden has blossomed with various flowers.

All the varieties of Roses, Dahlia, Petunia, Azaleas, Aster, Zinnia, foxglove, french hydrangea, Buttercup, lantana, lilac, and some more popular and precious flowers.

The fragrance of the flowers has made the whole atmosphere so soothing and peaceful. All the tensions in my mind just vanished getting close to nature.

'Maybe someday I will have my own garden of flowers. I should work harder for that'. I made a vow to myself.

"Good Morning, ladies and gentlemen." Suddenly a voice appeared out of nowhere, catching and startling every attention. It felt like the sound was coming tearing the air.

People started looking everywhere around them but the person was nowhere to be seen.

"You can't see me." He spoke again. The voice was deep, cold, and alluring. Able to attract any attention he wanted with it. "I am the new CEO of Petronas."

Everyone was stunned. They actually expected to see the new CEO, but he did not appear. The slow murmurs started when a middle-aged man cleared his throat getting their attention.

"Please, do not make any sound when the boss is speaking." He announced.

Like others, I was surprised by the situation too. And I was a bit confused too. Unlike others, I felt the voice so familiar. But, I exactly couldn't remember the source of it.

While I was thinking, the CEO once again spoke, attracting everyone's attention, "I am sure you have heard the name 'Mandarin flower Scent'. One of the legendary perfumes which was a hit in its time but later, we lost it. It's been a long time. And considering its popularity, I have decided to reinvent it once again."

His announcement rushed a wave of excitement on every person present there, including me.

I had heard about this precious legend, but unfortunately, it was lost a long time ago. When I heard it was going to be reinvented and their company was the one going to do it, I felt glad and proud inside.

The excited murmurs filled the whole garden when the same middle-aged man opened his mouth. "Silence." One word and everyone stopped.

The new CEO continued. "Today I have summoned you guys here for the meeting because you all are gonna be a part of this invention. And one of you is gonna be the leader. Is there anyone ready to take on this challenge?"

The way the first announcement raised the excitement, it goes down with the next announcement. Everyone just falls into a pin-drop silence, looking at each other. No one dared to come forward to take the challenge. After all, it's a legendary perfume! Who would risk their hard-earned career!

Suddenly, a voice lightened up from the throng, making me gasp and curse in my mind.

"I think I am the best one for this challenge. I would definitely like to do it.”
