Chapter 38
Alyssa POV
“Hello honey, it has been long since we talked.” Tiffany stated trying to hug me with a false smile which I certainly did not believe.
She had ambushed me on my way to get drinks for me and Micah because, since we arrived at the party together, we have been inseparable and have been sitting on the couch together, not making out but certainly more touchy feely than usual. I think it is finally getting into their heads that we are a couple.
I have been happy at that and feeling high and staring into the face of Tiffany, that high is slowly being expired and I was not in the mood to feign happiness at seeing her.
“What do you want?” I asked but instead of my tone to come out as hostile, it came out as defensive.
I frowned at my words and I was not the only one who caught up on the defensiveness that was in my tone because Tiffany jumped on it by crowding my space.
“What I want is for you to stop whatever games you are playing with Micah feelings, yes it was good that you were with him during his period of chemo and all but he is better now, why don’t you go back to your role of best friend and leave his relationship status alone without trying to change it.”
Wow, I certainly was not expecting that from her. She has grown balls, big brazen ones.
“And what gave you the right to tell me what I ought to and not to do?” I asked her with my voice shaking with so much anger.
She smiled to herself as our chest actually brushed based on our close proximity as I refused to step back no matter how much she decided to share my space. Me stepping back would be as clear as to admitting that I am conceding to her and I never concede to Tiffany, not even when I saw her in bed with my ex.
“Because face it, you are not worthy of being anything other than Micah’s little best friend and perfect sidekick.” She smiled cruelly.
I stared at her amazed, she really thought that my voice shaking was because I was scared of her. My brain disconnected from my body. It really did! because the next thing I knew was that my hand was flying through the air and landing a loud sounding slap on her face.
Someone caught off the music as everywhere went silent and those who were acting like they were not watching this scene now watched with rapt attention.
At the slap, Tiffany mouth popped open as she held her face and stumbled back from me but I was not in the mood to give her space and let her come to the conclusion that indeed I raised my hands against her.
“One.” I said, advancing towards her with my steps slow and stalking. “Never, in your life. I mean in your existence think of dating my boyfriend, incase if you missed the memo, its Micah.
“Two.” I gave her a push as she stumbled back, eyes darting around the room, like she was looking for someone to help her in the predicament which she clearly put herself in.
“You must have some nerves to think you actually scare me, I have done nothing but pity you since day one and it has become clear that it would have been best if I did not allow you to delude yourself, clearly, you are not moving with the times, this is no longer high school and I was never and will never be one of those girls you bullied. If you ever think pf me that way again, I will smack you so hard that even you future unborn will feel it.”
“Now three.” I went toe to toe with her. “Repeat your last statement about me and Micah again, I dare you. This is not school, we are done with that so I can beat the fucking hell out of you, try me and repeat your words.” I screamed at her face.
I felt arms wrapped around me with familiarity, not like anybody else would try to touch me when I am this angry, the highest Jake ever did was to try and talk me pout of my anger, only Micah could hold me and not expect a backlash from me.
And I did not want to be calmed by him, I wanted Tiffany to repeat her words.
“Calm down.” Micah voice sounded close to my ears in his soothing tone, he had used countless number of times to talk me down the ledge.
His voice sounded close to my ears and were responsible for the goosebumps with grew on my skin.
“I am calm.” I snapped at him and the idiot just chuckled as he tightened his wrapped arms around me.
“Of course.” He agreed even though I could detect the sub tone of humor in his voice.
“I think you have proved to them all that I am yours and to Tiffany that she should get off whatever she must have smoked.” Micah added, his tone hardened when he mentioned Tiffany and her head jerked up at her name and after his words, she nodded heavily like she was trying to convince me of Micah words.
“I hate it when you take my anger away like that.” I grumbled as Micah shoulders shook with silent laughter but I did not hit him. Not this time though, although we were in the perfect position for me to sneak a quick jab of my elbow to his ribs but I refrained from the temptation.
He gently drew me away from Tiffany and when she was far from my reach, he kissed my neck as if he was rewarding me for good behavior and then we walked away into his car to go back home.
I would really like to say that we walked off into the sunset but all happily ever after must come to an end.
Ours came sooner than I thought.
