Chapter 34

Alyssa POV

Looking at Micah smiling and laughing with his family around him brought joy to my heart. Someday, that may be us, surrounding a sick family member or visiting our parents when they have an anniversary. Yes, you heard that right. Our parents and that includes my parents too who decided that they want to do another wedding soon and they want it to be done on the day of their original anniversary. That is in eight months’ time which seems so far away, any way I decided to be a good girl and not say anything about my parents getting back together... The only reason why I am not shouting at my mother and not telling my father that he is acting stupid was because Micah sent me a look of warning after we reconnected and the rest came back here after going home to change clothes, take their bathe and also eat some homemade food, my father and mother ate in Micah home.

I get that everybody is happy that Micah is getting better, since he woke up and is already condemning everything, it shows that he is in a state of extreme good health if he can act like he always do. I can't hardly believe this when I see our families mixed together like this. Sure, we used to hold barbecues and Saturday family night together but I never saw it this way. I can imagine that in the future, we would be joining them for those things with our family. Not families like I always saw it. Then again, Micah can never know these thoughts, for God sakes, we just admitted that we have feelings for each other, I cannot go and ruin it by telling him that I can see us having children together. We are not even dating yet and knowing Micah he will refuse us dating because he wants to get well first and he doesn't want me to take care of him like a sick child when I am his girlfriend. Macho or sexist or whatever it is, I am okay with it as long as we date eventually. It might even prove to be a good thing, he now has a very good reason why he should focus on chemo so that he can get well as fast as possible. I still laugh to myself whenever I think of the letter. It was written like he has given up that I will never see him as anything more than a friend when he should realize that I have always been seeing him as more than a friend and I used other boys as a distraction, although I didn't know that consciously. It all happened in my subconscious and I started to know about it when Jake cheated on me. That was when I started comparing every boy to Micah. He has always been a scale for me and I used it without knowledge of what I was doing.

“Alyssa, can you stop thinking about me and focus on what's happening.” Micah voice snapped me out of my thoughts as I quickly blink my gaze back into focus only for me to realize that they were all looking at me.

“Somebody has the expression of lovesick puppy written all over her.” Mike said in a stage whisper that we could all hear and my cheeks turned red.

“Keep talking Mike, the number of hits I will give you when I am out of this bed with double the number it already is.” Micah said in a deceptively calm tone that Mike knew. After all this is not his first time of teasing me. He learned quickly that his brother will always side me no matter who committed the crime.

“Oh yeah and what was the number two.” Mike said with a snicker.

“Try twelve.” Micah corrected.

Mike face went pale all of a sudden. “That means twenty four that is too much”

“I haven't doubled it yet.” Micah reminded him.

“You know that she is going to do something and I cannot resist ribbing her for it.” Mike mumbled.

“Well try, I am sure that she will be grateful for it and try not to do anything that will bring your attention to her again.” Micah responded but Mike just rolled his eyes at him.

“Look at her, everything she does warrants a teasing but I am holding back.”

“Try harder.” Micah told him while I caught my parents smiling at his as if they are indulging our behavior for fighting over such a miniscule thing... Miniscule thing my foot. Have they ever been on the receiving end of Mike teasing?

“‘Her’ is right here.” I cut in before Mike will say something else, he refuse to let Micah always have the last say, and it is like a child trying to outrun an adult. “And her would every much like Micah to rest and not spend all his strength arguing with his baby brother.”

“Now she is referring to herself in third person.” Mike said in fake horror.

“No she isn't, she is making reference to us talking about her as if she is not in the room.” Micah corrected and Mike glared at his brother but didn't say anything else.

“What were you calling me for?” I asked Micah with a smile.

“We wanted to know if you will stay with me until your school session starts.”

I frowned at him. “No silly. " his face dropped until I added. “I am staying with you until you get well.”

His face brightens then fell. “I refuse to make you wait for me.”

“I am not waiting for you. I am taking a sabbatical so that I and my best friend can go to the same school like we have always planned. “I said paraphrasing.

“Alyssa.” Micah started.

“You should be thankful that I didn't foot your surgery bill.”

“Don’t tell me you are taking care of my chemo bill.” Micah groaned.

“Of course I am. “When he opened his mouth to complain, I hushed him. “Take it as my apology for been such a bad friend to you.

He thought about it for a while then he nodded. “As if you had a choice. I would have done it either way. “I told him.

"So dominatrix. I like it. “Mike said with a pretend growl that made Celine to burst into laughter.

My cheeks turned red and Micah exploded... Well as much as he could with an ivy needle struck in him. “That is it. Twenty four punches. "

“I guess this is a bad time to say that before I came here I took care of the surgery bills and chemo bills. “My mother said as we all turned to look at her and she shrugged like it was no big deal.
