Out of control
Out of control
Archie had his men drop Michelle at the studio while he went to work himself.
However, Michelle was not as relieved as she was supposed to be with Archie’s sudden nice attitude.
“Why is he nice all of a sudden? He even suggested that we could share a bed.”
She asked herself the same questions but had none of the answers.
She excused herself from her crew and went to the restroom, her phone gingerly held in her hands.
She tried calling Dan, but no one picked up. The call eventually went straight to voicemail.
“Dan, I don’t know which games you are playing by ignoring me. Remember that without me, you are just as dead as the rabbit. Call me, and don’t ever talk to the Fosters.”
She gritted her teeth in frustration.
Her phone rang just as she was about to leave, but it was Casey calling her, definitely not the person she was keen to talk to.
\[Hey, big sister. Missed me?\]
She composed her voice despite her frustrated expression.
\[Don’t be full of yourself, Mimi. I am calling to tell you that Father will land in London tomorrow. You better fix your shit there with Archie, or it will end sideways.\]
\[Oh, chill. Me and Archibald are now good, like we never fought.\]
\[Good for you. Now keep your distance from our cousin. I know he will get you in trouble, that one.\]
Michelle sighed heavily at Casey’s words.
\[Talking about Dan, he hasn’t picked up ten phone calls from me. I know you hate him, but at least check on him. I fear he is in trouble.\]
\[That is none of my business. He should have never bothered Archie in the first place.\]
\[I don’t think Archibald would do any harm to him. He hasn’t been bothering him since I went to River City.\]
\[I still don’t care about him. Now make sure you meet up with our dad. Jacob is coming along with him.\]
Michelle gasped at Casey’s words, fear washing over her at the thought of her brother coming with their father.
\[No way. Why didn’t they check with me first? Are you for real?\]
She asked in disbelief, pacing back and forth outside the three toilets while glancing at her reflection in the mirror.
\[Yes, I am. But I heard Dad mention that they were there for business and to see you and Archie since you had promised to get them to meet up. Sorry, I have to go!\]
Casey hung up, leaving Michelle stunned with no other words to utter.
“Alright, I fixed my shit with Archie, and I will convince him to meet them.”
She comforted herself while contemplating whether to call either her father or her brother, Jacob Preston.
Meanwhile, Liam was chewing a green apple while talking to Jasper in his office.
“So, how far are we with the Prestons?”
He asked with a serious expression while Jasper relaxed in the seat across from him.
“Not far from now. I think it will be up within at least a couple of hours. There have to be some check-ins before.”
Jasper explained while scrolling on his tablet.
“I am getting impatient with this thing. Why can’t he do the simple job and get it done? Someone has to pay for my wife being in the hospital, and I have to make sure it is soon, or else corpses will drop!”
Liam threw the bitten apple against the wall, his eyes darkening.
His actions made Jasper grow more nervous in his seat. It was very unlikely to see his boss like this. This proved that Liam was furious about the drama unfolding in his city, especially because it had also affected his family.
What Jasper asked himself was why Liam was just reacting to everything now. Michelle had been here for a while without him doing anything, or was it because this time his wife got admitted to the hospital because of the chaos? Then he understood his frustrations clearly.
“I will get into it, Sir. Ethan is with him. He will update us if he is done.”
Jasper assured his boss.
“Whatever, I will be at the hospital if you need me, and take all my meetings with our clients for today.”
Liam took his brown blazer in his hands and rose to his feet, with Jasper standing up after him.
“No problem, Sir. Please give Mrs. Foster my regards. I will have Grace send the flowers and everything listed.”
Jasper replied with a calm expression.
Liam gave a slight nod and left his office.
“That didn’t go as planned.”
Jasper shook his head as he bent to pick up the apple, throwing it in a bin after.
“Hey, Jas, I just saw the bull going out. He doesn’t look so happy. What did you do to get him mad?” Grace asked from the door.
Jasper turned to her, a faint smirk curling on his lips.
“Hey, Grace, how are you, Grace?”
He asked with a lightened face.
“I am all good myself. How are you, Mr. Jones?” She asked with both her hands on her waist.
“I am super good. Thanks for checking out on me.”
Jasper took a few steps toward her, standing inches closer to her.
“You are much welcome. Now answer my question... What did you do to our boss?”
She pressed her question, her fierce expression stunning him.
“His wife is at the hospital, of course the man would be unhappy with that. There is a list of necessities that I have emailed to you. Make sure Mr. Foster’s stay at the hospital is good if you want to get in his good books.”
Jasper uttered coolly, his stern face intimidating as he towered over her.
“Yeah, I understand. No need to be cheeky about it. I will go out before he comes back again.”
Grace took steps backward, creating a bit of a distance between them.
“I'm after you, although my heart tells me that you are trying to avoid me. Do you have any reasons to do that?”
His voice lowered, amusement in his face showing.
A long breath escaped her mouth, the nervousness in her face unmissable with his deep gaze on her.
“Nope, I’m only getting to do the tasks you gave me to do, plus I miss Mrs. Foster, so I think going to see her is in my schedule.”
She forced a smile.
“That ain’t no lie. I hope she smiles when she sees your face. You see, Grace, working with you will be nice in this company, and please don’t get too comfortable around me.”
His words caused her to scoff before she confidently walked forward to him.
“Am I too comfortable when I’m closer, or is it because you are trying to avoid growing out of control?” She whispered.
“Out of control? Come on, Grace, that is impossible and...”
She silenced him with a soft kiss.
The two of them breathed heavily as they shared a long, warm kiss.
He pulled back and wiped his lips, a dangerous smirk curling his lips.
“It was only one night. I’m dating now.”
Jasper whispered and left her frozen.
