Chapter 10 Ten
Chapter 10 Ten
THIRD PERSON POV
Lily bent to look who was in the car since they had pulled up in front of her, but then she didn't recognize the man, so she kept moving. But the man drove to catch up with her again and then honked.
Lily frowned a little and looked towards his direction.
“Aren't you Ivy? I was to pick up a lady with the name, Ivy.” He uttered.
Lily only felt a little riled up and continued walking until she saw a cab and hailed it. She got into the car, and let out a relieved sigh.
“Freedom Park.” She informed the cab driver.
Then the driver took off.
She didn't like how that man drove up to her, claiming or mistaking her to be someone else because it was creepy. But now that she was out of his sight, she felt better.
“Would you like me to play a music of your taste?” The man asked her politely.
“Oh, thanks a lot. But I prefer it silent now.” She responded with a slight smile.
She preferred to gather her thoughts in silence, to wonder what she and Kyrian would talk about.

In a matter of time, the cab slowed as they reached the entrance of Freedom Park.
The park was calm and peaceful in the evening. Streetlights had begun to glow softly along the pathways, and a few people were still strolling around or sitting on benches.
The driver then stopped the car near the entrance.
“We’re here,” he said shortly.
Lily unbuckled her seatbelt and opened the door. As she stepped out, she turned slightly, bringing out her purse, then paid him for his service.
“Alright, ma’am. Have a nice evening.” he said to her politely.
“You too.” She uttered with a smile.
Right now, she had something important to focus on, and she couldn't wait to find out what it is that Kyrian wanted to talk to her about.
She walked further into the park, her heels crunching lightly against the gravel path. After looking around for a moment, she spotted an empty bench beneath a tall tree and walked over to it.
She sat down slowly.
Her eyes moved around the park, searching for a familiar figure. Kyrian should have been here already. He was the one who asked her to come, so he should have been here.
Lily checked the time on her phone, and realized that five minutes passed, and more even passed.
She frowned slightly.
“Where is he?” she thought to herself. “Maybe he was stuck in traffic.”
Trying to stay patient, she pulled out her phone and dialed his number, and the phone began to ring.
But he didn’t pick up.
She lowered the phone slowly, confusion forming in her chest.
“Maybe he’s busy,” she whispered to herself.
A few minutes later, she tried again, and the call rang once more, but there was still no answer.
Her fingers tightened slightly around the phone.
“Come on, Kyrian…” she murmured.
She dialed again for the third time, and the result was the same. Now, worry began creeping into her thoughts.
“Is something wrong?” She thought to herself.
At least, he was the one who called her over, so even if he wasn't here yet, he would have answered her calls or something.
She stared at the screen for a few seconds before pressing the call button again. But this time, it wasn't what she was expecting.
“The number you are trying to reach is switched off.”
Lily froze.
“Switched off?” she repeated softly.
She lowered the phone slowly, staring blankly ahead. She really didn’t understand what was going on.
“He is the one who asked me to come here, saying he has something important to tell me which he thinks I would want to hear. Then why exactly isn’t he answering?” she said, feeling a little pissed.
She was trying her best not to be annoyed because she didn't know what could be happening wherever he was at.
A cool breeze passed through the park, making the leaves above rustle softly. Lily then wrapped her arms around herself unconsciously.
The sky had darkened, and heavy clouds had begun gathering overhead. A faint rumble of thunder sounded in the distance. It already looked like it might rain soon.
Several people around the park started getting up from their seats and heading towards the exits, but Lily didn’t move. She sat there quietly, staring at the path ahead.
Her phone suddenly vibrated in her hand, and her heart jumped. She quickly looked down to see it was a text message from Kyrian. Her fingers trembled slightly as she opened it.
“I changed my mind. You can leave the park.”
For a moment, Lily just stared at the words.
Her chest tightened painfully.
“That’s it?” she whispered.
There was no explanation, or any apology. Just a cold message telling her to leave. Her eyes slowly filled with tears.
She felt foolish.
She had come all the way here because a small part of her still hoped that he might say something that would change everything, but she was wrong.
A drop of rain landed softly on her hand, then another and within seconds, the rain began to fall steadily. Cold droplets soaked into her hair and clothes, but she still couldn't bring herself to move.
She sat there, staring blankly ahead as silent tears mixed with the rain running down her cheeks. Her shoulders trembled slightly.
“I’m such an idiot,” she whispered weakly.
The pain in her chest felt unbearable.
She had loved him so much. Yet it seemed so easy for him to play with her feelings like this.
Time passed, and the rain grew heavier.
Most of the park had emptied by now, leaving the area quiet except for the sound of falling rain. Lily lowered her head slightly as her tears continued falling.
Then suddenly, the rain stopped touching her. At least, it stopped reaching her head.
Confused, Lily slowly lifted her face, and above her was an open umbrella, which obviously, a person was holding.
