Chapter 477
Chapter 477
When Amelia saw the name, irritation welled up inside her. She paused for a moment before answering the call and hitting the record button.
"Amelia, when did you sink so low as to use such dirty tricks?" Sandra's voice was sharp and grating. "Faking recordings? You really have no limits anymore!"
Amelia looked exasperated. "Can't you tell that's Louis's voice? He has a wife. What are you now, the other woman?"
"So what if it's his voice? Anyone can edit audio," Sandra sneered. "Desperately trying to drive a wedge between us? Save it. Have you seen the numbers for Love Like Fire? Those are real results. I think you're just jealous of us."
Amelia hung up directly.
She didn't owe Sandra anything. Why should she put up with her endlessly?
Amelia had planned to drop the whole thing, but unexpectedly, a few days later, there was a sudden twist.
Sandra got hit on set.
When she heard the news, Amelia was so shocked she dropped her pen. "Who hit her?"
"A woman from Marigoldia. She barged right into their company and slapped Sandra in front of everyone." Hatty swallowed. "According to people at Galaxy Entertainment, the woman claimed to be... Louis's wife, Scarlett Gray."
Amelia frowned. "How did this happen?"
Her first thought was of Evelyn—if she knew about this, she'd be devastated.
At that same moment, Evelyn had already rushed to Galaxy Entertainment.
Inside the company was chaos, with staff members huddled in small groups whispering.
Evelyn headed straight for the top floor and saw several security guards surrounding a woman in a beige trench coat. The woman had her back to the door, standing ramrod straight—even just her silhouette radiated an aggressive presence.
Evelyn recognized Scarlett immediately. Amelia had given her information and photos of this person.
Facing Scarlett was Sandra, her face ashen, looking ready to explode.
Louis wasn't there.
In the commotion, Sandra was being held back—otherwise she would have slapped back already. She glared at Scarlett through gritted teeth, saying each word deliberately, "If you have a problem, take it up with him. What's the point of hitting me?"
Scarlett turned around. Evelyn could now see her face clearly—early forties, delicate and fair features, sharp eyes.
"Sandra." Evelyn walked over and grabbed her daughter's hand. "Come with me!"
"No!" Sandra jerked her hand away. "What are you doing here? Come to watch me make a fool of myself?"
"Scarlett!" Louis suddenly appeared, his voice full of warning. "You've crossed the line."
"What, I can't come? Am I not your wife?" Scarlett gave a cold laugh. "This girl is young enough to be your daughter, yet you can still bring yourself to do it. Shameless!"
Louis's expression didn't change. "Let's talk about this at home."
"There's nothing to talk about." Scarlett pulled a stack of documents from her bag and threw them on the floor. "I've already signed the divorce papers. I'm not interested in sharing a husband with someone else!"
"You..." Sandra felt like she'd been slapped hard, harder than Scarlett's actual slap.
Right now, everyone in the company was laughing at her, convinced she was the other woman. Her relationship with Louis had become a ridiculous joke!
She bit her lip and looked at Louis. "You promised she wouldn't show up."
A flash of impatience crossed Louis's eyes. "Yeah, you should think about who made her show up here."
Sandra froze, instinctively looking at Evelyn, her eyes full of suspicion. "Was it you, or Amelia?" she asked outright.
Evelyn staggered back a step, nearly falling. "How can you suspect me? I'm your mother. Why would I hurt you?"
"You're not my mother, you're Amelia's mother. You only think about her, never about me!" Sandra pushed Evelyn away like a madwoman and rushed out.
She drove to Amelia's company, intending to storm up, but was stopped. When Amelia heard about it, she had them let her up.
"How can you be so despicable? When your work can't compete with mine, you resort to these dirty tricks!" She slammed her hand on Amelia's desk with a loud bang.
Judith came in from outside, glanced at Amelia, who waved her hand, telling her to leave.
"It wasn't me." Amelia sat there calmly, completely composed. "I don't even know the woman. Why would I do that, except to watch you make a fool of yourself?"
"You..." Sandra's eyes turned red. "Amelia, you remember this. I'll pay you back for today's humiliation!"
"But it wasn't me." Amelia spread her hands. "Can you use your brain? Don't just blame everything on me when you can't find the real culprit."
Sandra didn't care about any of that.
She came in angry and left angry—completely irrational.
Later, Louis explained to the media that his marriage to Scarlett was over, and being with Sandra didn't violate any moral boundaries.
Even so, that slap Scarlett gave Sandra had made a lasting impression.
Sandra's reputation in the industry was ruined, but she didn't care.
So what if her reputation was ruined? In this business, people only cared about her value. Who actually cared about her reputation?
For a while after that, Sandra disappeared from the internet, but the show her company aired had high ratings, and two new actors gained tons of fans.
Over a month later, Estella and Malcolm's new series The Fire Lovers wrapped up filming.
At the wrap party, Amelia seemed distracted.
The crew took turns toasting, celebrating three months of hard work.
Estella's face was flushed from drinking as she held onto Amelia's hand.
"Ms. Tudor, thank you for giving me this opportunity! You're my lucky star!"
Amelia smiled helplessly. "It's your own hard work. You really delivered—the quality was excellent."
"Do you have something on her mind?" Seraphina came over. "Worried about ratings?"
Amelia shook her head. "Our show has solid quality, the actors are young and attractive, and we've hit the market sweet spot. No need to worry about competing with others."
"Exactly!" The screenwriter Garrett raised his glass. "Their Love Like Fire is losing steam—the rating's dropped to 7.2. Our rough cut's internal rating has never gone below 8.5!"
Everyone cheered and clinked glasses.
Watching this group of passionate young people, Amelia suddenly felt warm inside.
Whatever tricks Sandra and Louis pulled, at least she had a team she could trust.
The reason she couldn't get excited was entirely because she was worried about Evelyn.
Evelyn's mental state had been poor lately—she looked almost depressed. Amelia had tried to get her to move in with her, but she refused.
Amelia knew clearly that Evelyn was feeling guilty.
The party ended late at night.
After getting in the car, Sandra suddenly called.
"Amelia, I heard your short series is going online soon. Don't forget about our bet."
How boring.
"Sure." Amelia laughed coldly. "Then you better prepare ten million dollars soon."
"Ha! You're dreaming. I guarantee you're going to lose."
