Chapter 99 Nadia Was Beaten By Frank
Chapter 99 Nadia Was Beaten By Frank
NADIA
Dean ended the call and stood away for a few minutes, during which silence prevailed along with the feeling that something was wrong.
"Dean?" I called him.
He didn't answer, and continued looking at me as if I wasn't there.
"Dean!" I exclaimed, drawing his attention.
What is it? – He blinked a few times.
"Who was on the phone?" I raised an eyebrow.
"A partner," he replied, sitting down next to me on the bed.
"Which partner?" I asked suspiciously.
"Just a partner." He shrugged.
"Why the curiosity?"
I noticed his dark blue eyes, which were light before the call.
"What did he say?" I asked, ignoring his previous question.
"Nothing much." He looked away.
"Just work stuff."
I stared at him, trying to find any trace of a lie, but there was no change in his features.
"If you say so." I shrugged and lay down on the bed.
"Hey," Dean said after lying down and hugging me from behind.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing." I snuggled into his embrace.
"I'm just tired."
"Then let's go to sleep." He placed a kiss on the back of my neck.
"Good night."
"Good night," I replied, closing my eyes and surrendering to exhaustion.
DEAN
I woke up before sunrise and got up quietly so as not to wake Nadia.
Then I went into the bathroom and took a quick shower.
I went into the bedroom and put on one of the suits that I had put in her closet.
When I finished getting dressed, I approached the bed and placed a kiss on the face of my angel who was sleeping peacefully wrapped in the sheets.
"I love you," I whispered, and hurried off to complete everything I had planned for today.
After all, I need to find that bastard as quickly as possible.
NADIA
I woke up feeling the sunlight hitting my face directly, I groaned and pressed the pillow against my sleep-puffy face.
"Dean?" I called, feeling around the bed.
I ran my hand over the crumpled sheets, feeling only an empty space, and when I tossed the pillow aside, I confirmed that he wasn't on the bed.
Where is he?
I got up, still half asleep, and walked around the house looking for him.
After seeing that all the rooms were empty, as well as the mug smelling of coffee on the kitchen table, I concluded that he had gone to work.
"He could have woken me up," I grumbled, filling a mug with warm milk and adding two spoonfuls of cocoa powder.
Perhaps he was running late.
I sat on the stool at the kitchen counter and sipped my chocolate milk while thinking about what I was going to do today.
Several ideas came to mind, but they were all forgotten as soon as I remembered that it's been almost a month since I last showed up at the studio.
"Alice must be worried sick," I murmured, leaving the kitchen and heading towards my room.
I rummaged through the sheets looking for my iPhone, and as soon as I found it, I went into the contact list and selected Alice's name to call.
"Ms Nadia?" She answered on the second ring.
Yes, it's me. – I sat up in bed.
"Thank God you've given a sign of life," she said in a dramatic voice.
"Don't exaggerate, Alice." I rolled my eyes.
"Aren't you exaggerating?" she asked ironically.
"I'm going crazy here, canceling one photo shoot after another because you disappeared."
"I didn't disappear," I sighed.
"I just took a few days off."
"Oh, I see," she huffed.
"Just don't do that again without telling me, please."
"Okay." I rolled my eyes again.
"How are things going there?"
"Well, as I said before, I canceled several photo shoots," she said seriously.
"But incredibly, I didn't cancel today's photo shoot."
"Why?" I asked, curious.
"I don't know," she replied, sounding a little strange.
"Maybe it's just my intuition that you were coming today."
"Ha-ha." I feigned a laugh.
"So, you've become a psychic now?"
"Let's say yes." She gave a forced little laugh.
"You're coming today, right?" Alice asked.
"It depends," I said thoughtfully.
"What time is the photo shoot?"
"Two o'clock in the afternoon," she replied anxiously.
"Well..." I murmured, seeing that the clock showed 1:00 PM.
"I'm coming."
"That's great," she said cheerfully.
"I'll see you in an hour."
"Okay." I smiled and ended the call.
After leaving my iPhone on the bed, I went into the bathroom and took a quick shower, where I washed my hair and rubbed my belly with a fragrant oil.
No stretch marks for me.
I smiled as I left the bathroom and went into my closet looking for an outfit to wear to work.
I opted for a light pink, flowy dress with thin straps, a denim jacket, and floral flats.
Ultimately, today I feel comfortable and light at the same time.
After getting dressed and drying my hair, I grabbed my bag, which contained my iPhone and my documents, and went to the garage.
There I got into my BMW and drove to work.
On the way, I took out my iPhone and dialed Dean's number, and he answered on the first ring.
"Hi, my Love," he said tenderly.
"Hi," I replied.
"Did something happen?" he asked.
No, I stopped at a traffic light.
I only called to tell you I'm going to work.
"Work?" he repeated, confused.
"Yes," I said seriously.
"You know I need to work."
"No, you don't need to," he said nervously.
"You can stop right there, Dean," I said, also nervously.
"I'm an independent woman, and I'm not going to depend on you."
"But you're pregnant, and..." He tried to say something, but I interrupted him.
"So what?" I rolled my eyes.
"I don't even have a big belly yet, and pregnancy isn't an illness."
"I know," he sighed anxiously.
"It's just that...
"Don't worry," I finished his sentence.
"Yes, I need it!" he exclaimed.
What the hell happened to him?
"Why are you acting like this?" I asked suspiciously.
"Like what?" He pretended not to understand.
"So..." I sighed.
"Nervous, suspicious, and incredibly annoying."
"I'm not acting like that," he said indignantly.
"I just don't want you to leave the house without me."
"Why not?" I asked.
"It's not like some serial killer is trying to kill me."
I laughed, hoping Dean would laugh too, but he didn't seem to understand the irony.
"You're going back home," he said in his domineering, sleepy voice.
"And you're not leaving until I show up and talk to you."
"As if I would do that. " – "Not a chance." – I said seriously.
"And don't bother coming at me with that tone, because I'm not your submissive."
"Nadia..." he said anxiously.
"Please listen to me."
I already said no. –I stopped in front of the studio. –And even if I wanted to, I've already arrived and I'm not going back.
"Don't go down!" he exclaimed nervously.
"I'm coming there!"
"Don't exaggerate, Dean." I scoffed.
"I'll call you when I get off work."
Nadia!
"Bye Dean." I ended the call and frowned.
What the hell was that?
Could his outburst be related to the phone call from last night?
I kept asking myself questions in my head, the answers to which were vague, when my iPhone started vibrating in my lap.
"Hello?" I answered, but there was no response.
"Who is it?" I insisted, and the only thing I heard was heavy breathing.
"What kind of stupid joke is this?" I asked nervously, my breathing becoming more labored.
"Go to hell, you idiot!" I exclaimed and ended the call.
"Damn it," I said, seeing that the number was unknown.
It must be some idiot playing a prank.
I rolled my eyes impatiently and got out of the car after putting my iPhone in my bag.
A few steps later, I was already entering the studio in a very unpleasant mood.
"I'm so glad you're here!" Alice exclaimed, all smiles.
I see that someone is in a good mood today.
"Uh-huh," I sighed.
"Have the models arrived yet?"
I looked at her for a few seconds and saw that her eyes were dull, as if she were hiding something.
"Yes," she smiled.
"They're in the main room."
"Ah, yes..." I murmured suspiciously.
"Then I'll go there."
"You can go." She smiled even wider.
I nodded in confirmation and headed towards the room where the supposed models were.
When I stood facing the door of the room, I felt a familiar shiver run down my spine, and immediately my hands began to sweat.
Could it be a bad feeling?
"Relax, Nadia," I murmured, taking a deep breath.
"It's all in your head."
After taking three more deep breaths, I touched the strangely cold doorknob and carefully turned it.
"Hello?" I asked, opening the door slowly.
When I opened it completely, I noticed that the room was practically dark, except for the small beams of light that came through the windows.
"Anyone?" I took a few steps into the room and noticed a male silhouette near one of the windows.
"Hello?" I repeated, hoping the strange silhouette would respond.
"Run, Nadia!" My subconscious warned me, but I ignored it.
I stayed quiet, hoping that the stranger was the lost model, but as I'm not that lucky, something unexpected happened.
The silhouette approached me, and even in the darkness of that room, I could see the white smile that formed on the stranger's lips.
"Hello, my light," the stranger said in a strangely familiar voice, and as if in a flash of recognition, my entire body froze.
Frank?
"Did the cat get your tongue?" The silhouette moved even closer.
No, it can't be.
I remained standing in place as the silhouette slowly approached.
"Aren't you going to say anything?" he insisted, but I remained silent, mentally denying that this stranger was really Frank.
"Say something!" he shouted angrily.
"Fra-nk?" I stammered, frightened.
"That's right." He stopped in front of me.
"I see you still remember me."
I tried to signal my legs to run away, but they remained stiff and immobile.
"I missed you so much." He raised his hand and stroked my cheek.
My body immediately curled up in an attempt to protect itself from the actions of this obsessive madman.
Nadia... Nadia... – He grinned mockingly. – You've really turned into a slut.
Before I could realize his intentions, he slapped my face hard, delivering a truly painful blow.
Ahh! – I screamed, falling to my knees on the cold floor.
"You have no idea how much I suffered seeing you kissing that bastard." He pulled my hair and turned me to face him again.
"You coward!" I exclaimed, trying to get away from him.
"Be quiet." He slapped me again, and I only fell because he grabbed my hair.
I felt the back of my neck burning from the force he was applying to the wires in that area, and as a result I started to cry.
"Ohh." He feigned emotion.
"Now you're sorry?"
I remained silent as I let the tears roll down my swollen and aching face.
"But be aware that I will not forgive you," he said, moving closer to my ear.
"I will make you suffer like you never imagined possible."
I closed my eyes, trying to think of something that would get me out of there, but what came next dashed all my hopes.
"No one we save you." He let go of my hair to grab something.
"Not even your damned fiancé."
And before I could react, he pressed a cloth against my face, and I automatically started to struggle, but little by little I lost my strength and with a last breath I succumbed to unconsciousness...
