Chapter 53 You Can't Hold Me 1

Chapter 53 You Can't Hold Me 1
MADISON POV

I wanted to cry, but I needed to be strong for my daughter.

When I look around, and I can't find Cohen, I wonder where he went.

He wouldn't leave our side if something wasn't happening.

"Where's Cohen, Laura? I can't find him," I said looking around.

"He went to get your daughter Madi," she said hopefully.

Then I finally realize that all of this is a setup, Dimitre isn't going anywhere, he did this to distract her so Cohen could do something.

I just hope it works.

I trust them, they'll bring my princess back to my arms, where she should have been.

DIMITRI POV

I needed a lot of composure to put on that whole act for Madi.

I knew it would make her suffer a little more, but it was the only way to get Nadia back without hurting her.

We just got on the plane.

I know it's not going to take off because Cohen took care of that, but I just need to do my part to get Nadia out of that woman's clutches.

Fraya? I call her, making her look at me.

She turned to me, about to sit down, when my daughter, in her lap, was distracted, playing with Fraya's blonde hair and making some sweet baby noises.

It devastated me because she took away a part of our daughter's growth from Madi and me.

Months that weren't shared, and I wonder how much we missed?

Tell me, my love - she replies, shaking Nadia.

Can I hold my daughter? I haven't had that opportunity yet.

Laura smiled, and that smile scared me quite a bit, because I knew she would use that simple request to get something in return.

"You can, on one condition," she replies.

"What do you want from me, Fraya? Don't you already have everything?" I ask, raising my voice slightly, but when her face hardens and she holds my daughter even tighter, I take a breath and try to calm down.

"I'm sorry, I'll do anything you want to please you, I just want to be able to hold my daughter."

"I know you'll do it, Dimitri, but I want something very simple."—She paused.

"Just as I have felt your daughter in my arms for the first time, I want to feel your lips on mine again."

I expected anything but this.

I glance at Cohen, hiding right behind me, and take a deep breath before accepting it.

She comes closer to me with Nadia still in her lap, the knife is still in her hands but far away from my princess's throat, which makes me feel much more relieved.

I reached behind her to hold her by the nape of her neck and kissed her.

I felt disgusted with myself for doing this, but it was necessary.

I felt Nadia's little hands on my back, patting as if she didn't like what was happening.

In my mind, I replied to her: I don't like this either, my princess.

I open my eyes while still kissing Fraya and see Cohen give the signal.

Then I interrupt the kiss and pull Nadia into my arms; the brutality with which I do this causes the knife in Fraya's hands to lightly brush against my princess's forehead.

It was a matter of seconds while my daughter started to cry and I tried to calm her down, Cohen grabbed Fraya, holding her by the arms.

"You fucking bastard!" she yells.

"You really think I wasn't prepared for this?"

She starts laughing when four huge guys, including the pilot of the plane, appear, surprising us.

Dammit, we should have seen this coming.

The armed men released Fraya from Cohen's grasp, and now he's the one who was now cage.

You're not going to get away with this, Fraya, the entire police force is after you.

This plane isn't going to take off.

You think so, you lousy cop? I was rooting for you, Cohen.

You could have gotten Madi out of Dimitre's way, but you couldn't even do that and you still think you're going to catch me?

What a sweet illusion.

Fraya turned to me, Nadia had calmed down now, but I was scared for both of us.

Fraya was completely out of her mind; every step she took, even her breathing, made me hold my daughter even tighter.

"Don't worry, my love," she said, coming closer and gently stroking Nadia's thin hair.

"Daddy and I will take very good care of you, just far away from here." She smiles and signals to the pilot, who should leave immediately.

What are you going to do, Fraya?

Let's go, darling.

I think you should sit down and put on your seatbelt, for our little one's safety.

I looked at Cohen, trying to understand something, trying to see if I could do anything to get us out of this but I couldn't think of anything.

Fraya sat on the window seat and patted the other seat so I could sit next to her.

I remained standing, but one of the men put a gun to my waist, forcing me to do what she asked.

So I sat down.

It will be a long journey but it will be worth it for our happiness.

Fraya had a triumphant smile on her face, which pissed me off because while she was here having her moment of glory, for a short time, of course, my wife was outside with a heavy heart for not being near Nadia and me.

I snapped out of my reverie when the plane began to take off.
