Chapter 52 Fraya Took My Daughter And My Man
MADISON POV
My heart stopped completely when Laura put a knife to my daughter's throat.
1 hour before
While Dimitre and Cohen distanced themselves and mingled with the other people, Laura and I watched everything from afar.
My daughter was just a few meters away from me, and I was counting the minutes until it was all over.
Fraya waited to check in, and I didn't understand why they didn't just grab her right away.
What were they waiting for?
For her to get on the plane and run away with my daughter?
No, no, if they delayed any longer, I would snatch my daughter away from her myself, and if I did that, there wouldn't be anything left of that doll-like face.
Laura noticed my nervousness every time Fraya walked away from Nadia.
I couldn't see Dimitri and Cohen anymore; I searched everywhere with my eyes, but they had vanished.
Every step that bitch took was a push forward for me; if Laura hadn't held me back, I would have already ripped out every strand of her blonde hair.
I couldn't stand waiting any longer.
I looked at the clock, and 15 minutes had already passed, the longest minutes of my life.
Then her flight was announced, Fraya took my daughter out of the stroller and held her in her arms.
She was beautiful, and my daughter was like her father.
I could see from afar how she smiled at Fraya while she played with her.
Damn, that smile should have been for me.
That situation was emotionally destabilizing me.
My daughter was smiling at Fraya with a radiant smile, and it hurt me deeply.
"Madi, don't be like that, she's just a baby, and babies laugh at everyone," Laura said, wiping a tear from my eye.
Imagine how many smiles she's already received, Laura, and what if my Nadia prefers her to me?
Stop talking nonsense, woman.
Nadia will love you just as much as you love her.
Stop it and focus on her, and just think about the incredible moments you two will share from now on.
"You're right," I said, taking a deep breath and swallowing back tears, just like my mother used to say.
"I'm always right," Laura said, eliciting a slight smile from me.
I noticed Fraya heading towards the boarding gate, but before she could hand over her passport, Cohen, Dimitri, and three other men surrounded her.
Fraya turned pale when she saw Dimitri, but quickly regained her innocent expression and spoke to him.
Dimitri's expression was unreadable; from where we were, we couldn't hear.
I needed to go over there and find out what was happening, I let go of Laura's hand and ran towards them.
"Madi, come back here!" Laura shouts from behind me.
I don't care about her screaming, I just need to end this nonsense once and for all.
The closer I get to them, the more frantic I become.
I can't control my feet anymore; I'm on autopilot.
I can only look at my daughter and the way her eyes are glued to her father.
"Dimitri is here, she's our daughter, isn't she beautiful?" Fraya said.
What the hell is this "our daughter" nonsense?
"She's not our Fraya, she's mine," Dimitri said in a firm voice.
No, Dimitri, I was going to tell you, you know, I was pregnant with your child and I found out after you asked me for a divorce.
I was waiting for the right time to tell you.
"This daughter isn't yours, Fraya, she's Madi's," Cohen interjects.
"No, no, no, she's mine, Nadia is my daughter," she said, getting upset.
"Dimitri, you can come with us, we'll be so happy far away from that tramp Madi."
You're completely crazy, bring Nadia here Fraya, and then we'll talk.
She takes a step back and holds Nadia even tighter.
"Do you think I'm an idiot, Dimitri? I'm not handing her over to you.
Nadia is coming with me.
If you don't come with us, you'll never see your precious little girl again," she said, smiling.
"You're completely out of your mind. Give her to me, Fraya, otherwise you'll end up hurting her, and you don't want that, do you?" Dimitre said, his voice a little softer.
Do you think I'm out of my mind?
I'm perfectly ok, Dimitri, and I couldn't care less if I'm hurting her or not.
As far as I'm concerned, this baby would have been dead since birth.
She's only alive because I still had hope of having you back.
I'm going to finish you off, you wretched bitch — I said.
Well, well, the one we were missing has arrived.
Give me my daughter now, you unloved whore.
"Do you want her? I'll give her to you, Madi, but she won't be alive," she said, placing a knife against Nadia's throat.
Now, my heart stopped completely.
I didn't know how to breathe anymore.
I wanted to scream, but I couldn't.
My only reaction was to put my hand to my mouth in terror and fear.
I couldn't lose my daughter; if she died, I would die with her.
Nadia is a part of me, she's the reason I'm still standing today, she's the reason I get up every day, and she's the reason I would give my life.
"Please drop it, Fraya. She's not to blame for anything. You want me, I'll go with you," Dimitri said.
I stare at him, terrified.
There's no way he's going to turn himself in.
"No, Dimitri," I tell him, afraid of losing him too.
"You need her more than you need me, and I promised you I'd bring her back.
You told me minutes ago not to come back without her, and I won't," he said.
Don't make me choose, Dimitri, please.
I love you, I need you too.
"You don't need to, you're strong," he said, moving closer to me and whispering in my ear, "I will always love you."
He moves away, getting closer to Fraya.
"I thought this charade would never end," she said, rolling her eyes.
"You should have known from the beginning that Dimitri is mine, Madi. I made it clear to you after that accident, but you didn't get my message."
"It was you, you slut," I said angrily.
Yes, it was me.
Why are you surprised?
No, I expect anything from you, you're a monster Fraya, you're holding a knife to a baby's throat just to have the love of a man you know will never love you.
I would have had his love if you hadn't interfered.
Nadia could have been my daughter with him, but you ruined everything.
I'm just taking back what's mine.
He will never be yours, understand that.
Even if he goes with you, I will be the one occupying his thoughts, I will be the one in his heart, I will be the one he dreams about at night, I will be the one he desires to be in bed with, it will always be me, Fraya.
No, I'll make him forget you.
There won't be a single memory left.
Her flight is called for the last time and she smiles.
I beat you, Madi, I always win.
She turns to enter the boarding gate, but Dimitri stops her.
Fraya, hand Nadia over to her.
I promise I'll do anything for you, but please give Nadia back.
If you love me as you say, prove it now.
Fraya looks from me to Dimitre.
I don't know what's going on, but I know Dimitri has a plan.
My man wouldn't give himself up so easily, especially not to a crazy, deranged woman like her.
I'm sorry Dimitri, but until you get on that plane with me, this child will remain with me as collateral.
"Damn it, isn't my word enough?" Dimitri raises his voice.
I will live with you for a year, darling.
I know you very well, and I'm smart enough to know that if I let go of Nadia, you would leave me, and I'll end up in jail.
You're wrong, Fraya—I said, making her look at me.
And why would it be?
Because I won't let you go to jail.
Oh no?
Are you going to have compassion for me?
No Fraya, prison is too good for everything you made me suffer.
I can go to jail for killing you slowly so you can feel the pain I felt all these months.
Wow, Madi, I didn't recognize you anymore.
You're not a cold woman; you wouldn't be capable of killing me.
"I wouldn't be so sure, and if she doesn't kill you, I will," Laura said behind me.
You guys are pathetic.
Let's go, Dimitre, before the plane leaves without us.
Dimitri looks at me one last time and says very quietly.
I'll be back and the two of them get on the plane.
