Chapter 38 Who Is The Father 3

Chapter 38 Who Is The Father 3
MADISON POV

I was trapped in endless darkness, unable to find a way out.

I screamed for help, but no one heard me.

Part of me was already giving up, part of me was already giving up the fight, but the other part remained strong.

I ran through the darkness searching for something that would bring me back, but there was nothing there, and suddenly I heard a plea.

Dimitri's voice was far away, but I could hear him.

I ran even faster, trying to find where the voice was coming from, and at the very end, far away, I saw a light.

The more he spoke, the closer I got to it, and when I finally arrived, I opened my eyes and found Dimitri there beside me, just as he said he would be.

"Are you okay?" Laura asks.

Apart from my whole body aching and my throbbing headache, everything else is fine.

I was so scared, Madi, I swear I thought you wouldn't make it.

Hey, I'm here, you're not going to get rid of me that easily, are you?

"That's great because I don't want you far from me, I consider you my younger sister, and now I'm going to have a nephew!" she said excitedly.

It still hasn't sunk in — I place my hand on my belly — Can you believe a baby is forming in here?

It's hard to believe, but excuse me for asking, friend, I'm very curious.

Do you know who the father is?

I look at my belly and think about Laura's question.

Yes, I know who the father is, I have no doubt whatsoever, but I still don't know how this information might change my relationship with him.

Yes, I know.

I don't want you to be upset with me, but for now, I prefer not to say anything.

This baby could change a lot of things, and I need to be sure that everything is real, that everything is true, so I can move forward without fear.

I don't even get a hint?

Are you going to leave me dying of curiosity?

Yes, I'll go—Laura rolls her eyes and says I'm the meanest woman in the world, and I burst out laughing at the pout she makes.

You know that when you're discharged you'll have to come back with me, right?

Ma'am, Rose left two men out there since you came here.

Are you going to tell her about the pregnancy? She would never accept it.

I'm not going to tell her, she might want to harm my baby, and besides, I need to go back to get the last piece of evidence Cohen needs.

You're crazy, you're going to take a huge risk, and Cohen is already taking care of it.

He won't be able to do it, and it'll be easier with me in there.

"I just want to see how you will convince that hottie outside that you're not going back with him," Laura said, giving me a light tap.

I need to talk to Cohen about this; Dimitri needs to know the whole plan, otherwise, he'll never let me go back.

You're right, and speaking of which, I called Cohen, he should be arriving soon.

He's so excited about the possibility of becoming a father.

Madi, are you really going to prolong this uncertainty?

They're going to kill each other, you have no idea what I went through here to stop them from committing murder.

I know, Laura, but I'm afraid of what this might change and so many things could still happen.

One thing at a time, they won't die because of this, and neither will you.

Don't look at me with that innocent face.

Okay, it's up to you.

Half an hour later, Cohen arrives.

He enters the room with a worried face and comes straight towards me.

Without saying anything I notice the look Laura gives him, and I have a slight feeling that I'm missing something.

I'm sorry I didn't come sooner, are you okay?

I'm feeling better because of the situation.

Do you need anything?

Have you eaten yet?

You need to eat twice as much now.

He looks at my belly with a huge smile, and on impulse, I grab his hand and place it on my belly.

Cohen alternates glances between me and my belly, and after several minutes of silence, he kisses it.

"This is so strange," he said.

"Just wait until the baby starts kicking," Laura said excitedly.

"I can't wait, you'll look even more beautiful in pregnancy," he said.

I can't hide my embarrassment; Cohen always complimented me, and I'm not very good at receiving compliments.

"What's going on here? Get your hands off my woman!" Dimitri bursts into the room, shouting.

Damn, he couldn't have seen that.

"Dimitri doesn't need all this, we were just talking," I said calmly.

There's no need to touch her for a conversation, you're testing the little patience I have left, Cohen.

Don't play games with me, I already told you I want you far away.

"And I already said I'm not leaving," Cohen said, stepping away from me and staring at Dimitri

"It's all going to start again," Laura said, amused.

Dimitri, please, I need to talk to Cohen.

Don't complicate the situation any further, trust me, okay?

Are you kicking me out?

No, Dimitri, I'm politely asking you to leave.

I'll explain everything to you later.

Dimitri looks at me and then turns his attention back to Cohen, who has a small smile on his face.

"And you can wipe that smile off your face because it's nothing like what you're thinking," I said to Cohen, who became serious again.

Dimitri storms out, slamming the door.

Cohen, I need to tell him.

I'm going back to the nightclub tomorrow when I leave here, and he won't accept it until he understands what's going on.

He could ruin our plans; too many people already know about it.

No, he won't.

Don't worry, I'll handle Dimitri myself, I just need you to let me tell him.

"Okay," he said finally.

Thank you, I already have a plan to get Ma'am Rose to talk.

"And what is it?" Laura asks.

I can't say yet, but I'll manage, Cohen, I promise you that.

I know you're going to, but be very careful not to let Rose find out she's pregnant, and right after you hand over the recorder, we'll raid the nightclub.

"Whatever God wills then," I finally said.

When Cohen left, Dimitri came in wanting to know what was going on.

It was a long conversation; I told him absolutely everything.

At first, he didn't like the idea of me taking the risk, but he ended up accepting it.

It was either that or I wouldn't get out of here.

The next day Fernando discharged me.

I was in the car with Laura on our way home, when we got there Ma'am Rose was waiting at the door.

I took a deep breath and got out of the taxi.

I was still sore from the impact of the car, but I was much better.

I had a bandage on my head and some bruises on my body.

"It was about time you all came back, this isn't a summer camp," Ma'am Rose said.

"You're being quite the joker today, aren't you, Ma'am Rose?" Laura said.

Don't push it, girl.

I didn't say a word.

Laura and I went up to the room, and I dragged myself to the shower while I was soaping myself, I kept running my hand over my belly as if I could feel him inside me.

I didn't expect to receive a gift like this after everything I'd been through.

A child is my hope, the fruit of a crazy love, a boundless attraction, and an unforgettable passion.

A child who revived, along with the feeling that had been dormant, in that restaurant, on the bathroom sink.

You are the best gift Dimitri could give me.
