Chapter 104 Mom, I'm Getting Married 2
DEAN
I was lying next to Nadia when my cell phone started ringing, and when I looked at the caller ID, I noticed it was an international number.
"Hello?" I asked, rubbing my eyes.
"Hello, Dean!" exclaimed a voice I hadn't heard in a while.
"Mom?" I called, surprised and happy at the same time.
"Yes, it's me," she said, smiling.
"How are you, my son?"
"I'm great, Mom." I smiled.
"Now, you remember that you have a son? That's unfair,"
"Even if I'm far away I will always remember I have a son, you know....."
"I miss you, so much son" she said.
"If that's true, you would have called or sent me a message "
"Don't ever doubt your mother, son"
"I have always trusted you, I'm just joking "
"God, I have so much to tell you."
"You do?" she asked, surprised.
Yes, but first of all. – I got up and left the room.
Where are you now?
"In Paris, looking at the Eiffel Tower," she replied cheerfully.
"Everything is so beautiful here."
"Have you visited all the places you wanted to?" I asked.
"Actually, yes," she replied, pleased.
"I'm calling to tell you that I'll be returning to New York in three days."
"Seriously?" I asked hopefully.
"Then you'll be able to meet my fiancée before the wedding."
"Bride? Wedding?" she asked, confused.
"Yes," I smiled.
"I'm going to marry the woman of my life, Mom, and to top it all, she's expecting my child."
"I'm going to be a grandmother?!" my mother shouted excitedly.
"When were you going to tell me this, Dean?"
"When you call or show up, since you've been traveling the world without a cell phone for a whole year," I explained.
"But that doesn't matter now, what matters is that you adore her."
"Okay son, tell me about her" she said.
" Well Mom, she is the daughter of my business partner, her name is Nadia Thompson, she is 26 years old and the rest is when you meet her, I will get to know her more"
"My son is in love more than I thought," she said, her voice trembling with emotion.
"I can't believe my little boy is getting married already."
"Mom, I'm already 30 years old." I rolled my eyes and smiled.
"But to tell you the truth, even I don't believe it. I love her so much, Mom, that sometimes I think all of this is a dream."
"I can tell you love her from the tone of your voice," she said.
"I can't wait to get there and give you both a hug."
I smiled, feeling that the world was conspiring for my happiness.
"What day is the wedding?" my mother asked anxiously.
"Saturday," I replied with a smile.
"You have to get here before Friday so I can introduce her to you."
"Okay, sure," she said.
"But let me ask you something."
"Speak," I encouraged.
"Is your father going?" she asked seriously.
"No," I replied.
"He's traveling with Elena and Sofia. Apparently, my half-sister was causing too much trouble, and they decided it was time for her to get married."
I smiled, concealing the part where I practically forced my father to pair Sofia with the son of one of his business partners in Japan.
After all, what she really needs is someone to dissuade her from this crazy idea of incestuous love and since I couldn't get her into a psychiatric clinic, at least I'll manage to get her married to a Japanese man, so she can move permanently to the other side of the world.
"That's a relief." My mother sighed in relief.
"I agree." I smiled.
"So you're coming on Thursday?"
"Yes," she replied.
"Will you wait for me with roses and a box of chocolates?"
"Of course." I laughed.
"Dean?" Nadia called, opening the bedroom door.
"Hi, my angel," I said, pushing the phone away.
"Come back to bed"
"Okay, I'm coming."
She looked at me with sleepy eyes, and after stroking her round belly, she yawned and went back to her room.
"Mom, I need to hang up, my fiancée is calling me," I said, smiling.
"Okay." She laughed.
"Good night and sleep with the angels."
"Okay, Mom." I rolled my eyes, amused by her maternal manner.
"I love you."
"I love you too, son," she said, her voice filled with emotion.
"See you later."
Until then.
And so I ended the call and went back to the room, where Nadia was lying on my side of the bed, clutching my pillow.
"Love," I whispered, lying down beside her.
"Soon you'll meet your mother-in-law, I hope you like her."
Nadia stirred and murmured, "Let me sleep, love," making me laugh, so I hugged her from behind and joined her in that comfortable sleep.
