Chapter 58
LIANNA
I was humming as I walked down the ship's corridors, because the satisfaction I felt from ruining Kalia Hanover's breakfast was priceless.
Not only did she see that I could ruin something she liked - just like she had tried to do to me - but I would continue to show her that and rub it in her face.
Because I may be human, but I wasn't one to let something like that slide.
After all, I was human, I wasn't weak, and stupid? Definitely not.
But I was soon snapped out of my thoughts when I saw those red hair tied up in a high ponytail, along with a shirt that exposed his chest. And in his hands, he carried a bouquet of flowers and a completely pink box, with a beautiful bow decorating it - which I suspected held the sweets he had promised me.
I tried to sneak up behind him to give him a scare, and see if I could at least make him jump, but as soon as I tried, he turned towards me.
"Hello, Lianna," he chuckled as he said that, his body moving towatds me.
"Hello, Devon," I replied a little later, a genuine laugh escaping me, which made those jade eyes sparkle, a smile forming on his lips, "you really came with the sweets and flowers," I teased, which made him look me up and down, like he wasn't believing what I said.
"Did you think I would come empty-handed? A promise is a promise," Devon said, and with that, I opened the door to my room - since he seemed to be waiting in front of it - "excuse me."
Both Devon and I entered the room, causing us to sit on the bed, and he handed me the sweets that were in that beautiful box, one that seemed like it was made for a princess.
"Try them, the pastry chef who made these is quite famous." He opened the box as he spoke, and those sweets? They were all so beautiful, and they already made my mouth water.
I took one to try, and heavens! It was so good! It wasn't too sweet or too bitter, and with those crunchy bits, it was perfect!
"Oh my god!" I exclaimed after eating that piece of paradise, "this... is so delicious!"
"I'm glad you liked it," he laughed as he said, one of his hands caressing my head, "and you can eat as much as you want, there are plenty in there."
And yes, it was true, because there were different colors and textures of sweets in there, and that made my face light up.
And my mind was completely focused on those beautiful things in front of me, at least until I heard Devon laughing.
"What's wrong? Is my face funny?" I asked after hearing him, but Devon continued to laugh, "Devon!"
"Sorry... I just remembered you trying to scare me earlier." He put his hand in front of his mouth as if trying to disguise it, "it was adorable."
I blushed when I heard him say that, but at the same time, a certain anger took hold of my body.
"If you're so good at it, then why don't you scare me?" I challenged him, which made those jade eyes fixate on me, my attention completely drawn to them.
But when I noticed, Devon had suddenly thrown me onto the bed, and our faces were so close that I could feel his warm breath on my skin.
My cheeks and ears turned red, making me believe that I must have been redder than a tomato.
"What's wrong, sweetie?" A smirk appeared on his face, his hands holding my wrists, "you didn't blush like this the first time we were together."
"Devon," I said with a serious tone.
"Yes, sweetie."
"Go to hell." I said angrily, and he started laughing as he got up, as if I had told a joke or something.
"Sweetie, you don't want me to go to hell." He joked, picking up one of the sweets to put in my mouth, "here, it will make you happy, and maybe... make you forget that you're mad at me."
"You... are simple." I spoke between bites of the sweet he had put in my mouth.
"And you seem to be too, you're even speaking to me more sweetly." He teased, which made me put a sweet in his mouth too.
"Eat up, cutie, you also need a bit of "sweetness" to stop making these jokes." I teased, but he just shared the cake he was eating and handed it to me.
"This one is delicious too, try it." That's all he said, and I couldn't help but find it cute.
"See? It works for you too, you're even starting to be a prince again."
"So bold..." he said with clear indignation on his face, "and how mean, judging me just for a moment when I wasn't a prince."
"Isn't that the beauty of life?" I laughed, "and I'm not judging you, just teasing you, it's natural when you get intimate with someone."
Devon seemed somewhat surprised to hear those words, so much so that his head seemed to be processing them.
"What's wrong? Never had that with anyone before?" I teased, "it's okay, I can teach you what it's like, you just need to... let go."
He still looked at me with that bewildered look, only to take a deep breath.
"Let go?" He laughed, "I don't even know if I can still do that, not after all these years..."
"You can, you can always find a way." A sweet smile now graced my lips, "you can start by not having that annoyingly impeccable posture."
"No, I'm not going to start walking like a hunchback!" He denied so quickly that it was comical.
But somehow, I knew that Devon would at some point be more himself and also loosen up more with me, and today... it was the first step he was taking.
