Chapter 269 Cat and Mouse 25

Chapter 269 Cat and Mouse 25
Psych

I rode , taking the back roads fast and recklessly and then I went back to Ravens to hide like the coward I suddenly was.

The woman I had called to make Cat jealous continued to call me giving me no option but to block her.

Then I went to dinner around Copper and Dana’s. Because I couldn’t stand to face Cat yet. Or more specifically I couldn’t stand to face the fact I was falling hard and fast for a woman who didn’t want me in the same way.

I liked kids, I always had so being around Dana’s rambuncious siblings helped take my mind off of her. For a little while at least. Right until I saw copper kissing Dana on the back porch. Like a creep I’d watch them. Not so much the kissing part but the way their faces lit up around each other.

They were so much in love.

It wasn’t even that I wanted that. Not really but I didn’t want it to be completely off the table either. When I looked at Cat I saw the possibility. She was the kind of woman who deserved more than a quick fuck when we both felt in the mood.

“You heading out?” Copper asked softly when I stood.

“Yeah.” I made a show of stretching my arms above my head and yawning. It wasn’t even late but I needed them

To think I was tired enough to want my bed.

It was a bed I wanted, but I wanted to share it with a certain woman who was driving me insane. In my pocket her house key dug into my thigh and it gave me an idea.

She probably wouldn’t be finished working tonight but I could let myself in. Surprise her.

And if there was another Reaper there then I’d make some kind of excuse.

“Thanks for dinner Dana, see ya kids.” Jogging towards my bike I waved to them and took off too quickly. It was a bit of a drive to Cats and I didn’t have a second to spare.

We had a fight. It happened. What was important was that we made it right and didn’t dwell on it.

I made it to Cats place in record time. Pulling my bike into the lot and looking around. As always the place was packed , but I couldn’t see her little pink beatle anywhere and what was worse was the fact that mine was the only bike. I didn’t even recognise any of the cars.

Weren’t people meant to be watching her?

Unease crept up my throat, tightening it and making it hard to breathe.

Not even bothering pulling the skull printed bandana off my face I stormed inside. And not one person turned to me. They were all too busy sitting in their little happy groups and laughing whilst they stuffed their faces with amazing seafood.

The only person who looked in my direction was the bar maid. The same one that I had flirted with once upon a time. Now I looked at her and didn’t know what the fuck I had been thinking.

“Are there any Reapers here?” I couldn’t see any one I recognised but that didn’t mean there wasn’t one or two hovering around outside. Plus Lost Reapers was a big club. And I was from out of town. I didn’t know everyone. Even if most of them knew me.

She looked up from wiping down the glass, a sneer on her lips. “Not that I’ve seen.” She placed the glass behind her. Reaching up on tiptoes to do it. “Can I get you something or are you just hovering around again.”

My eyebrows lifted in shock. “I was looking for Cat. Is she around?”

Whirling on me, she smirked. “No, Cat took the night to go to dinner at the doc’s?”

The half polite smile faded from my lips. My heart slammed into my chest. And for a second all I could see was the way she had hugged the doctor yesterday.  The familiar way they embraced was so ingrained in my mind that I thought about it at the most random times.

“I see.” I said evenly. “Which Reaper is with her?”

The bartender's eyebrows pinched together. “None. cat is a grown ass adult. She can go to dinner without one of you brutes hovering over her at every second.” She ranted and it was pretty clear that she didn’t like me or the other Reapers very much. I didn’t care about that.

Cat was a grown woman but she was also a woman who was in the sights of a woman who had fed a psychopath victims for years.

“Give me the address.”

She stared at me with her mouth open.

I lowered my voice to a menacing whisper. “Give me the fucking address now.” I ordered.

Defiantly she continued to stare at me. “You like her.”

“The address?” I prompted because I was not having this conversation with her.

Pursing her lips she blew out a raspberry. “If you hurt her I’ll end you pretty boy.” Giving me one last once over. She told me the address. Giving me directions when I looked at her blankly.

Luckily the asshole doctors home was less than five miles away. A sprawling ranch style thing set back off the road.

Pulling up to the curb I stared at the illuminated windows. In each one was floral curtains.

Leaning heavily on the handlebars I sneered. What kind of man had floral curtains in his white picket fenced home.

Pussy ass bitch.

I was just about to laugh when I saw her. She came into view. A glass of wine in one hand and a plate in the other. Following hard behind was the doc. And even as I watched. He bumped into her with his hip.

Then the lights went out, and after a few seconds one upstairs did.

The rage happened in an instant. There was no way. Absolutely no way I was going to let that fucking happen.

I wasn’t going to lose her to some floral curtain asshole even if he was a doctor and could give her so much more than I could.

No way.

I was off the bike and sprinting up the garden path in a blink of an eye, and then I lifted my foot and kicked the door in.
