Chapter 262 Cat and Mouse 18
Chapter 262 Cat and Mouse 18
Psych
The Lost Reapers swarmed on the place, like ants over candy. All of them were just a little too friendly with Cat for my liking as soon as everyone was sitting around, old ladies in their own little group. Their heads together as they gossiped.
The men made plans, all of them without asking cat what she wanted to do. Which drove me almost as mad as them touching her did.
The entire time she smiled but it was the kind of smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. And talking about eyes she wouldn’t meet mine either. Every time she caught herself glancing in my direction she swung her head away.
Standing in the middle of her restaurant with her hands on her hips Cat sighed. “I’m going to get some food on. You guys will need it if your going to ride out of here. Amount of booze you’ve drunk.”
From beneath my lashes I watched her go. I was the only one.
Everyone else was too busy pulling her into their mess to realise she was making her escape.
Waiting five seconds I slipped from my seat and followed after her into the kitchen.
She had her back to me, standing with her back ramrod straight and not one burner on.
“You know I hate you guys in here, when I’m cooking. You just get in the way. Go sit down, I won't be long.” She said softly without looking back.
Reaching behind me, I snapped the lock in place. “I don’t really care what you prefer right now Cat.” I said just as softly.
I was already half way across the floor before she recognised my voice and turned. “Psych, what are you doing here?” Nervously her hand fluttered to her throat.
I trapped her against the stove. Arms either side of her. “I am so fucking mad at you.”
Her eyes widened in shock. “What? Why?”
I leant into her space. “What do you mean why? You know why. How do you think I felt rolling up here and finding you fucking hugging Copper?”
God that had bothered me. Even though I knew that there was nothing going on, I had still wanted to rip my friends head off for touching her.
“You can’t be serious.” She asked incredulously.
“Deadly.” I said through gritted teeth.
“Jesus Psych. I got freaked out and called the Reapers. They came.”
This didn’t make me feel any better. In fact I had been thinking about that very thing for the last few hours. When she had felt she was in danger, she had called them and not me.
“You didn’t call me.”
Her eyes widened into saucers. “What?”
“When you were in trouble, you phoned the guys. You didn’t even try to contact me did you? Did I even come to mind?” My face was so close to hers now that I could smell her lipgloss. I wanted to kiss her. But not gently. I wanted to fucking own her.
“Psych.” She whispered.
I let out a frustrated groan. “Fuck you didn’t did you. What is it ,Cat? I’m good enough to fuck you but not good enough to count on. Do you know how that makes me feel?”
She didn’t say a word, she just stared at me. And then the tip of her tongue came out to wet her lips. “You’re jealous.”
“Holy fucking shit, Cat.” Stepping back, I ran a hand through my hair. “Don’t be a moron. I’m not jealous. I am hurt.”
Her eyebrows slammed upwards. “Hurt?” Her voice rose an octave. “Why would you be hurt? I’ve known you for three days,Psych. I don’t know you. I called the guys I did know.”
I stared at her open mouthed for a second. My anger bubbling under my skin. Not many people got to me but she just had. Mostly because everything she was saying was true.
I was jealous. And what she had done did make sense. I was just too pig headed to admit it right now.
“Three days and I’ve already shared your bed how many times?” I froze. Fuck I hadn’t meant to say that.
I expected Cat to look hurt. Instead she lifted herself to her full five foot three and smirked at me. “True, true. But I mean-“
“I didn’t mean that like it sounded Cat.”
“Yes you did and that’s fine. I don’t hate you for telling the truth. I have been fucking you.” She lowered her voice. “I enjoy fucking you. But it will never be anything more than that. It’s casual Psych. We both agreed on that. No one can know.”
My lips thinned. Except someone did know and I hadn’t even told her that yet.
“So I couldn’t call you first, could I?”
Ok she had a point there.
“Yeah I guess so. I’m still kind of pissed at you though.” I joked, my arm curling around her waist to drag her body into mine.
“Psych. Stop it.” She landed a slap on my bicep but it was weak. “Anyone could come in and see.”
“Don’t care. Let me kiss you. So we can-“ my lips hovered over hers but before I could bring my lips to hers. She ducked out from beneath my arm and hurried towards the door.
“I want you in my bed Psych,” she hissed. “But that doesn’t mean I want you in my life. You agreed to this. Stop trying to do ,couple things. I am not and will never be your girlfriend.”
I stared at her in complete shock. “That’s not-“
“Yes it is. You keep moving the goal posts.” Her beautiful brown eyes narrowed. “I am not interested in you like that. It’s sex nothing more. If you can’t handle that-“
My brows slammed down. “I can handle it.” I growled out.
“Good, now eggs and bacon are in the fridge. You can cook for the guys. I need a smoke.”
With a click she unlocked the door and pushed her way out. Leaving me to wonder what the hell had just happened?
Had we just had our first fight?
Or had she just told me that she only liked me for my penis, and I wasn’t good enough for anything else?
And more importantly, why the fuck did it bother me so much?
