Chapter 29

Ellie.

"Aunt Melissa, I am fine. I promise." I said for the umpteenth time.

Aunt Melissa and I sat on the bed in her guest room. The joy was evident on her face but I was getting cooped up in the room already.

I had only gone with her to deviate from whatever it was Lorenzo might have planned to do...I needed a way to distract him.

It's been some minutes and I couldn't stay put. I wasn't at ease.

It took a whole lot of me assuring her I was perfectly fine, and needed some air, before she was able to let me out of her room. Besides, I made her understand she needed to rest. She had just had a long trip.

After what seemed like an eternity of cajoling her, I was finally out of the room.

My feet sprinted through the marble floors as I made my way quickly to my room.

Spotting Kai on my way up the stairs, I paused, "What's got you in a twist, Kai?" I asked, noticing the expression on his face.

He grabbed a hold of my hand, his eyes darting sideways as he whispered lowly, "What is this I hear about you being pregnant, Ellie? Are you insane? We both know..."

"We both know nothing, Kai. It is what you have heard. I am pregnant. I'd just discovered myself, so it's nothing for you to be worried about. Besides, you should be celebrating. We've waited for this for so long."

I didn't want Kai disrupting my plans.

Kai's brows creased deeply as he stared at me, his muscles taut with worry, "Ellie, seriously? You know exactly what I am talking about. You...you also invited Mom and Dad over here without speaking to anyone about it."

"And what do you expect I do? Do you expect me to wait on you and Lorenzo before I get things done in this Pack? MY mating ceremony is around the corner and there isn't a single preparation going on about it. If neither you nor Lorenzo are willing to up your game, then I am. I am more than capable of giving the push you all need. "

I wasn't in the mood for long talks, so I turned my back on him, making my way toward the kitchen. I paused, suddenly recalling I needed Kai for something.

"I almost forgot. What is this I hear about you sending a maid to the dungeon, anyway?" I asked, turning to face a still Kai.

"What?"

"Mia. Why did you send her to the dungeon? She is my maid and I need her services right now."

He sighed, "That is not important now, Ellie..."

"What do you mean it is not important, Kai? I just said I needed her services. What crime did she possibly...."

"Trust me, Ellie. You do not wanna go there." He looked pissed.

"Oh, okay. I think I can find my way to the dungeon myself. You do not get to tamper with anything that belongs to me without my permission."

I turned, making my way toward the dungeon. Mia, the maid, was the only maid I could trust to do what I had in mind.

It was getting late already and I needed to get this plan in momentum. I felt Kai's hand grab my wrists from behind.

"You can't possibly be serious, right, Ellie?"

I shook my head, pulling my wrists away from him, "I am more serious than you could imagine. I have needs, Kai, and I need her right this moment."

His brows furrowed, "I don't understand you anymore, Ellie. This should be the least of your concerns right now. We haven't talked about what you also did to Valerie. You got Lorenzo pissed this time..."

"And I have got it all sorted out. Seriously, that bitch needs to get out of my fucking hair, Kai. I am fed up with her."

She definitely needs to be taken care of, and I wasn't about to sit by and let her remain in this mansion.

"Trust me, I get it. I do. But you went far this time. Sending her to the dungeon...that was not a smart move, I tell you. And if you think Lorenzo might seem or act cool now... It is only a matter of time before he acts."

I sighed, "You need to calm down, Kai. Seriously. I get it, but right now, I need the maid, or everything is gonna get worse in the blink of an eye. "

I could easily work with other maids, but the girl, Mia, was the only one I trusted enough to do my deeds.

Kai's expression was perturbed, "I still don't understand. Why on earth would you need that..."

"You'll see. I do not care what crime you claimed she must have committed. I need her out of the dungeon this instant."

******

Eventually, without letting Kai have his way, I grabbed the keys from him, headed straight to the dungeon, and got the girl out.

I was so pissed she looked so frail. I wasn't having that. She needed to be as healthy as possible to be able to accomplish the task.

I had just sent her to have a quick shower while I paced in the living room. I had sent the maids out of the house to go have a rest. I didn't need anything disrupting what I had planned at the moment.

My cell phone rang at that moment, and I picked it up.

"It's ready. Come for pickup in five minutes." The voice said and I smiled.

"Good. Will be there in a jiffy."

The maid who was supposed to go pick it up wasn't out yet. I had no time to waste, so I decided to go get it myself.

Straightening my dress, I made my way to the door and out of the mansion. My eyes darted sideways, as I walked out the gates.

The pack guards all bowed on seeing me and made way for me.

I refrained from taking the car for reasons best known to me, opting to walk a short distance to the location.

I had only gotten a few distance away from the mansion when I felt hands on me from behind.

Turning sharply, I saw him. The person I needed to see, putting on dark clothing, "I wasn't expecting you here. This wasn't the location we agreed on. This is too close!" I berated.

"I'm sorry Luna. I needed to do this." He said and before I could register his actions, his arms shot forward, placing something on my nostrils, choking me out, until I could not breathe anymore.

The last thing I saw and registered was a car suddenly stopping by, and a group of men sauntered out.
