CHAPTER THIRTEEN

I’m already feeling bored of just laying down in this bed with nothing to do but to eat and watch the television with these gangsters. Wind suddenly entered the room with a smile on his face. He just talked to the nurse and his aura right now makes me feel like he has a good news for me.

“The nurse said that you can already go home by tomorrow,” he happily informed me. The other guys celebrated as if they are the ones sick of sleeping in this hospital.

“Finally!” I burst out in happiness. “I got so tired by doing nothing,” I jokingly said about my situation. To be honest, it’s really tiring as if I’ve done something productive the whole day.

“We’re going to be complete again,” Leaf said as if we’re not together in this hospital when I was healing.

“We’re finally eating real foods again,” Wind then added. They’ve been eating at fast food restaurants again after class so that they can immediately come here and check on me if I need anything.

“Isn’t fried chicken a real food?” Fire jokingly countered what Wind said.

Wind was supposed to answer already when someone knocked on the door. Since Wind is the nearest from the door, he volunteered to open it and we were all surprised to see who those people are.

“Mom! Dad!” I called on them in my surprise. Their faces looked like they are so mad about what happened on me and that made me nervous. It was also evident that the other guys suddenly became quiet because of the cold air brought by my parents’ presence.

“What kind of irresponsibility is this, Hans Eric?” Dad burst out in anger. This is the first time that I’ve heard him this mad so I’m really scared of what will happen after this. “And you! Why did you allow this to happen at my son?” He then diverted his attention to the other guys and they just looked down because my dad is really angry right now.

“You promised that you will take care of yourself. I agreed on this nonsense because I trusted you but you disappointed me,” my mom said coldly making me feel every word that she said. I suddenly ended up crying because I can see it in her eyes how disappointed she is for what happened at me.

If only I can defend myself... But right now, saying anything will only make the situation worse because they’re clouded by their anger right now which I can truly understand why.

“I already talked to the nurse outside and she told me that you can already go out tomorrow. You’ll join us back home,” my mom then added which made me cry even more.

“Mom, please?” I begged her. I’m just starting. There’s so much room for learning and improvement on this one so I don’t want to leave now. The gangsters are already special for me to just leave them hanging after today.

“You haven’t joined any of your class yet. Why? Because you fainted on an ice skating field and lost your conscious. And now, you’re here because you were shot by a gun! A gun, Hans Eric!” I was surprised to hear that she knows what’s happening at me. “My decision is final. No ifs, no buts! We’ll fetch you tomorrow morning,” my mom added before walking out of my room. My dad then joined her leaving us in the room.

I was left crying so hard because of that decision. They don’t understand. I know that I’ve already been through a lot of traumatizing events but I’m just starting yet. What if tomorrow’s so much better than today? We’ll never know unless we get there.

Wind, Fire and Leaf approached me on my bed and hugged me. They tried to comfort me by rubbing my back but it just won’t help.

“Stop crying, please?” Fire then said while still rubbing my back.

“I don’t want to go home,” I said. “I don’t want to be away from you,” I added which made me cry harder.

I’ve only been with them for less than a week but they’re already close to my heart. I also don’t know how it happened but I just can feel that they already own a part of my heart and thinking that I’ll be away from them breaks my heart.

“Nobody wants you to be away. But since it’s your mother’s decision, I guess we can’t do anything but to just agree with it,” Leaf answered back.

“Agree with it?” I asked in disbelief.

“It’s your parents, Hell. They only want what’s best for you,” he clarified what he just said.

I couldn’t find the strength to answer that. I just let myself be drowned with the emotions that I’m feeling right now.

The following morning was filled with intense sadness as I prepare myself to be ready. I guess Leaf’s right. I can’t do anything about it because it was my parents’ decision. When my parents came in, I felt like I have no other choice but to come with them. But to my surprise, it was only my dad who entered my room.

“Where’s mom?” I asked him.

“Do you want to come with us?” He asked ignoring my question a while ago. I got so curious why he’s asking me that all of a sudden when my mom has decided for me to come with them.

“Huh?”

“You have the option to stay with them,” he then clarified which made me cry again because I can’t believe that it’s happening.

“I want to stay with them, dad,” I answered immediately because he might take that option back once my mom enters the room.

“Our baby’s becoming independent, huh?” He gave me a hug after saying that. “This time, promise me that you’ll take care of yourself better.”

“Of course, dad. Thank you!” I answered at him.

The sadness that I was feeling since yesterday night has been replaced with happiness right now. I can’t believe I really want to stay with them this bad.

“Thank Heaven. He convinced us.”
