The door of the mansion opens up to her as she smiles weakly, an attendant standing behind her with her luggage.
“Dad!” She squealed excited at the sight of her father, she ran towards him throwing herself into his arm.
“Woah! Sweetheart you’ve lost weight”
“I instantly noticed” a grey eyed Mark mentioned, Cane was her 19 year old brother and her bestie “Hey sweetie” he spoke with a cool smile.
Still hugging her dad she squinted cutely at her brother, “Where is Ryan?” She asked looking for the youngest, she was curious to see how much he had matured.
“Cram school” Cane responded.
“Dad I missed you so much”
“Sure you did, but not as much as I did, come one”
He let her down and she looked wide eyed at him, Cane exhaled and walks over to the couch beside him. The room was large, with sitting space all over, at the left end was a stare case leading up where her dad walked towards.
“I’m gonna have to watch this” Cane spoke bringing up the rare of the trio.
Clarissa followed quietly to her bed room, “Now Clarissa, I may have gone a little overboard in preparation for the good news_”
“No dad i_”
“Or… the bad news”
“What he’s saying Ris is, see it as a congratulations or cheer up gift,”
Clarissa giggled as an unsettling feel came up in her. She walks over to open the door and she noticed a little box on her bed.
“That’s_” her father stuttered wondering where all the decorations he had put up yesterday had suddenly gone to. Cane let a little smirk accent his poker face as they watched Clarissa.
She took up the little box before her and opened it up. It was a pendant, a special rock that dangled on it.
It was a simple gift unlike her father would but it meant a lot, provoking her emotions.
“Do you like it?”
“_ Love it” she spoke holding back tears.
“Where is she” her mom spoke climbing up the stares and through the door.
She halts before the door looking at Clarissa, “Darling” she spoke and Clarissa couldn’t hold it in.
“Mom” she spoke following a break in the dam as she began to cry.
“Oh sweetie” her mom rushes over and gives her a big hug as she kept balling.
Cane quietly shuts the door giving them some alone time.
“I’m beginning to think I’m adopted”
“What makes you say that? You are one of us shift or not and I told you, don’t let this let you down”
“I get nervous and every time I tell myself this is the one but then I don’t . I want to join them in that moment, the very symbol of my existence is wolfing out and I haven’t”.
Her mom pulls her into her arm and squeezes her, “You can’t ball over every set back you face, the reason you are yet to wolf out is because you are special and you know it, I know it and I can assure you it’s going to be epic, you’ll do great things, don’t let this hold you back”
Clarissa shuts her eyes as she squeezed her mum as well, pulling herself together she breaks free from the hug and wipes of running tears. A brief laugh came to her face as her mum stared at her.
“I see you dad gave you a land stone, it’s said to bring good things to you”
“You don’t believe that do you”
“Your dad does, and I know for certain my mother does, so let’s believe this once hmm?” she stared hopefully at Clarissa and poked at her cheek.
“Yes mom”
“Alright, when you are all set, you’d get some rest and then come down for some grubs”
“Thanks mom”
“Also… I heard a new book store opened at the mart down the road, just the stuffs you like, you can go check it out with your brothers “
“I will”
She watched her mum leave the room and looked to the stone before her, putting it on she inhaled, it felt so good to be home.
“Are you sure this is the place?” Clarissa asked, her younger brother Ryan shrugged , Cane had his nose in his phone looking at the map.
“It is”
“This happens because you barely come out” Clarissa snapped
“I think we’ve been here before “ Ryan squinted. The mart before them was definitely one to be booming and it was the weekend yet you could count the number of people around it.
“So what? Business isn’t booming “
They stood like lost kids ogling the building.
“Well whatever, we are here, might as well check out the place”
Clarissa takes the first step and the two boys followed after her, the building was clean and fully stocked.
It had a nice feel like a warm grandma’s house, she looked to her right, further up was a stall that displayed everything books.
“that’s the one” she spoke drawing the attention of her two brothers who had their eyes on another section.
“Hey, aren’t you coming?”
“Depends, am I a nerd?” Ryan arched his brows to her causing her to roll her eyes.
“This is great stuff”
“To someone in the 90’s maybe, I’m good”
Cane was already ahead ignoring their conversation. He looked to Ryan who strolled towards him before going the opposite way from Clarissa.
She found her way into the book store being welcomed sweetly by the old lady behind the desk, she scrunched her face skeptical of the types of books she’d be seeing.
Checking the aisle number by the door, she quickly walked up to the novel section, she loved most genre but she was looking for something calculating and fun.
She wondered into the adventure section, arms in her back pockets she turned her head looking at the various novels with their appealing titles.
She loved the feel of the place it was quiet and made her feel comfortable, she loved the peace, the book stores back in school were most times disturbed by the neighboring building’s loud noise or some one yelling on the phone. ‘for Pete’s sake it was a library’.
As she traced the rows a particular book caught her eyes. It was pretty old with it’s front cover gone. She took it out safely, checking to see for is cover but it wasn’t in the shelf.
Judging from how old it looked, it was definitely frequently taken. As she read the about, footsteps stormed into the aisle she was on. It was a talk guy, she couldn’t tell his face from the angle she was watching him. He had his hair grow out a bit longer in beautiful neat curls. He had a head set over his neck and wore a long loose sweater with skinny jean. Fitted ankle boots on his feet, she characterized him as one who paid a lot of attention to his looks.
He brushed passed her and her heart raced as he stood beside him, she definitely had some reminiscence from the character in the previous book she had only finished two days ago.
She turned back to reading the novel in her hand but his movement beside her was distracting, he finally stopped and watched her. She tried to ignore him, adjusting her outfit and hair to cover the stare.
Irritated she turned, “Do you have a probl_”
The words died on her tongue, eyes widely staring at his light green eyes. Pointing to the book in her hand he started.
“I was going to grab that novel in your hand and dash out the store…”
He pointed his thumb towards the direction of the entrance at the last statement. Watching her, he tilted his head to view her better, hands at his side, he grinned broadly.
“But this is way better than that book”
“Zane!” Clarissa squealed as she threw herself arms over his neck.
