Chapter 56 Chapter 56

Chapter 56 Chapter 56
Kyla's POV

“What? No!!” I yelled.

He furrowed his brows. “Stop being stubborn. I'd asked Pamela, but they're busy at noon. It might get an infection if you leave it till evening.”

I tried to take the balm from him, but he raised it high above his head, I frowned. “Give it to me, I'll apply it on myself.”

He smirked. “Wow, I never knew you were a super girl.”

Pouting, I stomped my foot. “Stop taunting me, I could manage.”

He shook his head and turned around, crossing his arms. “No, you're not managing when I'm here to help you.”

“What–”

He cut me off. “Get changed quickly, stubborn girl.”

I bit my button lips, balled my fist tightly as I threatened to hit him from behind.

He's the one stubborn, but he's quick to judge others. I rolled my eyes and quickly made sure he wasn't staring.

Then I went to the wardrobe, as I opened it, I was awed to see it was packed with clothes my size.

“What's this?” I asked, shoving through.

“Don't you like them?” He asked, almost turning to look.

“Don't look back. I mean, how did you get my size of clothes here?”

“From the market, silly.”

I narrowed my eyes at him and cursed under my breath, “Such an ass.”

“That night after I brought you here, I asked someone to arrange for the clothes. Or did you expect to walk naked?”

I rolled my eyes. “Thanks.”

“Good girl. Now dress up. I've got work to do.”

I quickly wore a matching duchess pants and matching top– long sleeves button down.

“Done.”

“Fast for an omega– I thought I'll stand here all day,” he muttered to himself, but I heard him.

“We weren't given much time to dress up where I came from, it's either dress up in a few seconds, or spend the whole day half naked, serving.”

He gritted his teeth as he turned to me. “That must have sucked.”

I nodded. “But it was training, and that saved me an insult from you today.”

He bit his bottom lip as he locked eyes with me. “I'm so–”

“It's fine.” I cut him off with a smile. I'm used to these side comments.”

He gulped and gritted his teeth. “Lay down and open your back.”

He said it softly, but it felt like a command. The next second I laid down and pushed my shirt up as high as I could.

The bed dipped as he climbed on it, his weight making it creak. I closed my eyes as he came closer.

He lifted my shirt more to see everywhere that was burnt. I sucked in air through my lips as his finger brushed my shoulder.

He pulled down my pants a little bit. “This would do,” he groaned.

I swallowed as I heard his voice, seemed to have deepened a little– maybe I was overthinking things.

“Brace yourself, this could hurt,” he said, his tone deeper and now a whisper. I wasn't imagining it.

“Nothing, I can't handle,” I replied.

He started and I flinched. “Damn that hurts.”

“Nothing you can't handle,” he jested at me and chuckled.

I rolled my eyes and gritted my teeth as he carried on. He started to blow a breeze on it from his mouth as he applied it.

I turned and saw him from the mirror and our eyes locked. He looked so hot as he did that.

My eyes fluttered and I looked away. I shouldn't be thinking otherwise– he was just helping me.

“Done.” He said and got up. He did it like he was in a haste and then he turned around. “I'll erm– get you lunch.”

Then he rushed up, I raised my brow, wondering why he asked so strange.

“What is wrong with him? One moment he wanted to help and apply the balm on my back and the next he was running out of my room.”

I sat up and pulled my shirt down. “Strange man.”

It took him ten minutes to come back, holding a tray in his hand. “You're quite slow for an alpha,” I jested at him, using his own words. “I thought I'd die of hunger.”

He sighed. “I had an emergency, besides I'm not your servant, Kyla.”

I smirked, and tilted my head as I watched him place the food in front of my bed. “Noted,” I replied.

He shook his head and placed the spoon by the side. “Eat.” He said and placed his hand in his pocket.

I raised a brow at him. “Why are you sounding like you made the phone and you want a compliment?” I stared at the food, it looked delicious and I doubt he could do it.

He shrugged. “I pressed the juice– maybe you could try that and tell me how it is.”

I shook my head and tasted the orange juice, then I smacked my lips. “Tasty, but–” I smacked my lips again. “Maybe the oranges were not fully ripe.”

He frowned. “So it's not good?”

I giggled and threw my head back. “Of course, it's good. I was pulling your legs.”

He smiled. I looked away and started eating.

“I thought nothing good could come out of Blood Moon Pack.”

I raised a brow and looked at him, munching on my food. “I think the same too.”

“But you're good, Kyla.”

I laughed softly, covering my mouth with one hand. “What's good about me?”

My eyes welled up and I sniffed, blinking hard to stop the tears from flowing.

All my life, I've faced backslash from closed ones, pack members and strangers– even to my mate.

I've been called a curse, weak, worthless. They said it too much, it branded me and became my identity.

“I'm not good, Kendrick. Soon you'll find out and maybe you'll understand that being nice to me was a mistake,” I said and scooped the food into my mouth hastily, munching hard on it as if it would help me feel better.

“Nope, not meeting you earlier was my mistake. You've got a good heart and that's what's making me be nice with you– it's kind of a mirror reaction.”

I scoffed. “Well, you're the only one who thinks like that.”

“Only one? How about your parents?” He asked.

A pang drove through my chest as I thought about it. I had been the best thing in the world for my parents, they treated me like an egg– until my enemies took them from me.

I coughed as I choked on my food. “Water.”
