Chapter 52 Chapter 52
Chapter 52 Chapter 52
Kyla's POV
“No, I guessed she would be called Daciana. It's a pretty name,” I lied, looking away from her.
She shook her head, and her shoulder dropped like a child refused candy.
“But I'm sure you'll find her.” I said smiling.
She nodded in agreement. “Sure.” She walked over to her chair, slightly bent over. “Tell me what you're doing in these woods alone?”
I pulled a chair and sat next to her. “I left home.” I couldn't tell her about the camp where I met Kendrick and Daciana. “I am heading towards another pack, I'd appreciate it if you could point it out for me, ma.”
“You can call me, Grandma Lily.”
I smiled and nodded, “Is that what Joey called you?”
“Yes. I see you like my grandchild now, so call me that.”
I raised a brow in shock. She just met me and she saw me as her grandchild?
Maybe she really missed Daciana, while Daciana was living her best life with Kendrick as mates.
My stomach churned at the thought of that, it left me wondering why?
“What is your name?” She asked me.
“Kyla,” I replied.
“Kyla, these forests are very dangerous to tread as a young girl. I'm surviving because of my age, the rogues around here respect me and they do come to eat dinner with me at times.”
“Oh. Maybe you could tell me not to hurt me– so I could leave the woods safe?” I shuffled my feet and played with my fingers nervously.
Grandma Lily stared at me for a while and sighed. “You seem to be in a rush, are you running from something?”
I looked down and nodded slowly.
She stood up and grabbed a cloak from its stand near the door and she threw it at me.
“Put that on.”
I did, though it looked quite dusty– I didn't mind, as long as I got out of here.
She put hers on, and we went outside. As we crossed the fence and went round the house to go deeper into the woods.
Some men circled us. “Grandma Lily, do you have a visitor?”
I flinched when I heard Venom's voice, I pulled the cloak over my face. If he saw me, he would know I escaped and take me back.
“It's my granddaughter, but I am taking her back now,” Grandma Lily said and took my hand as she pulled me with her.
“Your granddaughter? I doubt it. Is it not only one granddaughter you have? When did she come?” Vemon enquired as he came in front of Grandma Lily and crossed his arms.
I gulped. It was obvious that Venom and his gang usually came to Grandma Lily's to eat dinner with her.
They must have seen her granddaughter and knew that it was Daciana. They knew Daciana was in the camp so it wasn't me.
“Son, let it be. I'll just drop her off at the end of the woods.”
I breathed in relief as Grandma Lily turned and took me with her.
I closed my eyes, praying they wouldn't come after us. My heart was racing so fast, I hope it doesn't give me away.
“Open her face!” Venom commanded and we froze.
“You have to run, okay?” Grandma Lily whispered to me. “Take the west, and keep going straight and don't look back.”
I swallowed as my chest tightened. Grandma was right, I could run. But they would chase me and even if I escape, what if they hurt her.
I knew Venom’s anger, he was ruthless.
“No. I won't leave you and let them hurt you,” I said tightening my grip on her thin wrinkled hand
Grandma shook her head. “I have lived long enough, you have your whole life in front of you.”
“No. You haven't seen your granddaughter yet. You have to see her again.”
Venom held my shoulder and pulled my cloak back and I gasped, going mute as my hands shook.
He walked to my front slowly and gritted his teeth as he saw me.
“You? I thought you were held back as a hostage in the camp?” He tried to grab my hair and Grandma Lily stepped in front of me.
“Don't hurt her, let her go,” her tone was chilling. She shook as she placed both her hands together.
“Get out, old hag!” He tried to push Grandma Lily off and I held his hand.
“You'll not touch her.” I snapped.
Venom scoffed. “Pathetic,” he slapped me across my cheeks and I fell to the ground.
“Leave her!!” Grandma Lily screamed.
Venom looked at the other Rogues that came with him. “Take Grandma back to her cottage and lock her in there.”
“No!!” Grandma yelled and tried to fight them off, but they pulled her along.
We locked her as she yelled. “Kyla, please be safe.”
I swallowed and faced Venom who had squatted beside me. “The last time Kendrick saved you from my claws. Who would save you this time, huh?” He asked as he ran his hand over my chin.
I shoved my face off his grip and he grabbed my jaw– his claws dug into my skin and sent my shivering in pain.
“Let me go!!” I growled. “If Kendrick finds out about this–”
Venom laughed out and the others standing around me, echoed the laughter. “He? I promise he doesn't even care if you live or you die. He has Daciana, remember?”
I gulped. A pang struck my chest as I thought of him and Daciana again. What was this feeling?
“You're mine, now.” Venom said as he pulled me up with my hair.
“Ouch. Let me go!!” I screamed. But he slapped me across my face.
“Shut up, and be a good girl,” he growled. His men grabbed both my arms and they pulled me into the woods.
Venom stood under a big tree as he unbuckled the belt of his pants. The men pushed me down and held my hands and legs, pinning me down.
My chest heaved as sweat rushed down my forehead. “Please don't, I'm a virgin.”
“Make it better,” he replied and they all laughed, excited.
“Help!!” I yelled looking around. “Help me!!!” I yelled louder.
“Fuck– Shut the tramp up, Leon.” Venom growled as he grabbed my legs and pulled me down as he got to his knees.
I shook in fear, one of them pressed his hand over my mouth. I felt my fangs become itchy as they extruded.
I bit his hand so hard, it drew blood and the metallic taste filled my mouth.
“Shit. She bit me.” He groaned in pain, pulling out his hand.
“Somebody help! Kendrick, save me!!!”
“Shut–” Vemon paused. He felt it.
A calm and peaceful sensation came like a wind. It was as though the gods of the woods heard my voice.
“Fuck, he's coming. Leave her now.” Venom ordered as he got off me. But the next moment, he was blown away and he hit a tree and dropped to the floor, groaning in pain.
