Chapter 48 Chapter 48

Chapter 48 Chapter 48
Kendrick's POV

I was on the terrace, looking down at the preparation outside. I noticed movement beside me and I turned to see Frakas. “Alpha Kendrick, are you coming down for the feast?” he asked me.

“Of what use?” I asked, looking out the window, my hands crossed behind me. “Carry on and have fun, I am not interested. I want to go hunting”

Silence filled the room, I thought Frakas had left, but I didn't hear him leaving plus his scent was still here.

“Daciana's parents wants to see you,”

“Leave, Frakas.” I didn't want to hear about that.

That was the last I planned to say, Frakas knew it when he heard the tension in my tone.

He stepped back and left. As I looked down at the feast happening down in the court yard, I sighed.

I turned to the side and saw a slim figure enter my room. I sighed. Her annoyingly sweet flora scent had announced her presence.

“Daciana, please leave.”

She frowned. “Why are you out here?” I gritted my teeth, looking the other way. “I’m sorry for locking Lily up.”

“It’s fine.” I growled and turned to her, crossing my arms over my chest.

She smiled beautifully, her blonde hair flowing in the light wind that blew from the window beside her.

Her blue eyes sparkled like the gold sequin dress she wore. It clung to her curves, I lagged a bit while looking.

She came in front of me and placed her hands around my neck. “I miss you.” She tiptoed and kissed me on the lips.

I stayed still, and she drew back, frowning. She ran her hand through my hair as she grumbled, “When are you going to meet my parents, downstairs to tell them?”

I furrowed my brows and dropped her hand. “To tell them what?” I asked.

Daciana clicked her tongue. “I told you before, Kendrick. My parents might going to get me married off soon.”

I bit my bottom lip as I held her hand and pulled her back.

“Daciana, I do not love you.”

Her eyes widened in shock as she stepped back.

“Common, don't give me that face. You know that I don't love you. I've been telling you this.”

Her lips quivered. “But what did we have?”

I closed my eyes and licked my lips. “What we had was nothing. You wanted me, I wanted healing, we had sex, once, twice and it was done.”

She gasped. “It was five times. Sometimes you were drunk and I still came to be by your side, because I love you, Kendrick.”

I nodded, running my hands through my hair. “I’m sorry you feel that way, but I can never love a woman.”

She shook her head, about to disagree, but I held her hands and locked eyes with her. “Daciana, I see you. You're a good girl and you deserve a man with a heart. Not me.”

I pushed her slightly to the side and I strides for the exit.

“Kendrick, I love you. And I promise to make you mine, no matter what!!” She yelled after me.

I sucked in air through my teeth and made my way up the stairs at the end of the corridor as I headed for the terrace.

A soft sigh escaped from my lips as the cold air brushed my skin.

A piercing scream sliced through the deep woods and bat screeched, lifting into the air.

My resolve shook immediately at the sound, it felt like a call– to me. It sounded familiar.
