Chapter 56 The wife Arrives
“Lilac,” Eric called and the entire backyard froze. From the way Ethan and Mark addressed her, they knew she was related to Eric. Everyone knew that the three of them came from the Black group headquarters and called themselves brothers even though they all had different last names. If they called her sister in law, doesn’t that mean that she was married to Eric? Did Eric just call her Lilac?
“What is going on?” Lilac asked, grabbing Eric’s arm and threw him a glare.
He did not need anyone to tell him that she was helping him, but suddenly getting caught by her made him flustered for a second. Seeing the look of confusion on her face, Eric almost laughed and relaxed slightly. Obviously this woman came to enjoy the show.
Seeing her appear, Mark saw a chance to get revenge. He was not stupid; he knew someone was obviously targeting Eric. If he did not guess wrong, it was probably this Lydia girl, crying as though Eric had wronged her.
“Sister in law, We came in and they were all here, claiming that Eric called them for this crying girl,” Mark said explained and Lilac's eyes turned to Lydia who was too shocked to continue crying.
“Why are you crying?” Lilac asked and Lydia choked.
“And the rest of you, what are you doing here?” she asked and the crowd became uncomfortable. It seems they were dragged into a one woman play and the actual wife has come to catch them.
“Ah, she called us here saying Eric invited her to a gathering, she said we could join,” a woman explained, throwing everything back to Lydia.
“Yes, her friends said Eric would be proposing to her or something,” another added.
“And you came? Your shame from your mother’s teachings were left in your hotel when you joined without invitation?” Lilac asked and the ones who spoke froze, “And you, why are you here?” she asked Lydia and Lydia opened her mouth but nothing came out.
“What happened? Are you going to start crying to confuse the judge? Do I look like I study law?” she asked and her fiance stepped forward.
“It seems there was a misunderstanding…” he started to say. Now looking at the man Eric, he was awfully familiar. James's assistant hurried over and whispered something in his ears and he went pale. Lilac could guess he now knew who Eric was, but she was already in a bad mood having to defend Eric to save her reputation.
“And you, why are you here? The banner behind you, were you the one who brought it?” she blocked his words with these two questions.
“We may have made a mistake when coming…” James started to say.
“Did you confuse this hoise for the place you rented to propose to your girlfriend?” she asked and he could not respond. If Eric was really interested in his girlfriend, then what he did today was just shady. But with the situation, they look shameless. To make it worse. He tied to embarrass Eric Black angering his wife in the process.
“Did your words trip in your throat the way your shame tripped outside your mother’s house? Why did you not wait for your shame to arrive before you walked in here? You just came to a random person’s house and proposed, are you also going to go to some random village and pitch a tent and serve rice to marry that broken tape behind you?” Lilac asked and Lydia cries became louder.
Ethan and Mark almost felt pity for them when he heard Lilac’s words. Sure enough, they had heard rumors of her sharp tongue on camp but to hear it in action, they could only sigh. Her mouth was a deadly assassin.
“Why are you crying? Someone would think I am a legal wife beating the mistress on the streets. Have some shame, at least see the bed first before you start going around claiming to be pregnant." Lilac found Lydia's crying annoying. The sound only made her angrier. Lydia could not take it anymore as she turned around and dashed away in tears.
“Your shame has finally arrived, but you have already disgraced the village. Don’t forget to take it as you are leaving,” she said and Lydia tripped on the sprinkler. James hurried over and helped her up to leave.
“And you, why is there no security here?” Lilac asked Ethan who stood straight the moment she talked to him. Lilac then turned sharply towards Eric and he unconsciously tensed up.
“Well..” Eric started to explain, but the words were lost for some reason.
“Why are you all still here? Are you waiting for a send off?” she asked and the others turned and left.
They were quite annoyed at being scolded but they were the ones who came to watch a show and even when Eric had said he did not know them, they still talked back. They took it as their karma and left in a hurry.
Unknown to Lilac, someone had been recording from the very beginning. The moment she left, she uploaded it and the Harrington company forum and spread to the Black company forum where it exploded as many took out their melons to watch a drama.
In a room on the second floor of a mansion, two cities away, Greta sat in bed scrolling though the Black company forum as she usually did when browsing for gossip when she stumbled upon a video. She was not interested at first, except she saw a name she recognized, Eric Black. She clicked on the video and at first she was so angry, she was boiling, until she saw Lilac step up.
After watching the video, she rushed down stairs and to her siting in the living room and dashed to her mother in law, Teresa.
“Mum, mum, look, Eric is trending on his company forum,” the girl said.
“When has he not been on the forum. He is the CEO," her mother in law answered without care.
“Some girl tried to embarrass brother and his Lilac appeared, there is a video!” she said excitedly, blocking those seated from watching the Tv. Before her mother in law could react, someone grabbed the phone from her hand and she turned to find her grandmother in law taking a seat. The old lady was depressed from her husband's health as he looked more likely to kick the bucket any day now. But right now, her hands were fast.
“My grandbaby’s wife is on video, didn't she say she would divorce him?” the old woman said and played the video.
“Ah, grandma, wait! Start from the beginning!” she hurried to her grandmother’s side and replayed the video from the start. Tamara was suddenly interested. She got up and stood behind her mother in law to have a look.
As the video played their blood boiled.
“What is this girl doing? Why do her words sound wrong?” Grandma Black asked.
“She is obviously trying to say that Eric liked her but she doesn’t like him. She wants to embarrass him, grandma,” Greta said while laughing, "Who knew Eric would ever have such a day?"
“This is why I say this boy should calm down and train his vision. See the kind of girl he attracts. First that Harolds daughter now even ghosts are haunting him,” they heard Mr Black’s voice behind them. It seems he could not help himself and came to watch.
“Eric could actually get himself in such a drama. Finally I have something to share on the group chat,” Greta explained excitedly.
But Grandma Black could not watch people defaming her grandbaby like this. She felt bad in her heart, but she kept watching. When people kept insisting that Eric liked that Lydia, they started to get frustrated on his behalf.
The moment Lilac appeared on screen and started to speak, Grandma Black started to feel better. Lilac’s words were like sniper bullets, not missing targets. Grandma Black’s smile bloomed the more she talked.
“Look at my granddaughter in law. This is how a woman should be,” Grandma praised.
“Her words could kill people, good job!” Teresa wished she could go there and cheer Lilac on. After the video, they read the comments.
‘Isn’t the CEO that came with vice president Ethel?’ someone commented,
‘I knew something was odd those rumors about Eric Black dating Lydia from secretarial office. When we were camping a few days ago, I woke up one early morning to Eric coming out of Lilac's tent. I was too shocked.’ someone released this information.
Grandma was even more interested in this gossip. Eric and Lilac are camping together? She was not the only one interested. Even Teresa's eyes shined.
The comments continued.
‘I was at camp that morning looking for good gossip and you did not think to tell me this?’ someone responded to the comment above.
‘The last week her words almost gave the engineering department a heart attack when she reviewed their product adjustment with the VP. Good thing they did not respond. She was married to Eric? As in Eric Black?' another asked with a relieved tone.
‘Ah, after what we went through every meeting, why do I feel good when I see other victims?’ another commented.
‘Wow, I was just telling someone I would have wanted to join Lydia's group after the invitations, but thank God I did not go. The embarrassment,’
‘CEO Hart beating people with her mouth again, vice president Ethel, Your friend is loose! Hurry there are too many victims,’
Reading the comments made Grandma Black so happy, she held her stomach and laughed loudly.
“But why is Eric in such a mess? Isn't Lilac threatening divorce enough to make himself sit up?’" Teresa said.
While the Black family were enjoying the uproar on the forum, Lilac was unaware the company she was cooperating with had entire forums talking about her.
