It wasn’t a real hit–just the shock that made her fall.
She looked up to see the imposing front grille of the car towering over her. The luxury emblem gleamed under the streetlights. The license plate looked familiar, though she couldn’t quite place it.
“Ms. Williams? Is that you?” The driver recognized Allison.
Allison got to her feet, staring at the middle–aged driver in surprise.
This looks like… Richard’s driver.
No wonder the license plate seems familiar. This was Richard’s
car.
“Oh my, Ms. Williams, you don’t have an umbrella? Come on, get in the car!” The driver took it upon himself to help her.
“Oh, I don’t need to-
“Of course you do. You’ll catch a cold.” The driver ignored her protests and pulled her toward the car. He opened the door and practically pushed her inside.
The moment Allison settled into the seat, the door slammed shut behind her.

radiating a vibe that was both elegant and intimidating. His entire presence commanded respect–and fear.
The kind of deep, unsettling power that made people instinctively step back.
Allison caught the way Richard’s cold eyes flicked toward the driver in the front seat. It was just a glance, but it carried enough weight to stop a heart.
She understood that look perfectly–the driver had overstepped by forcing her into the car without permission.
Especially since she was just an adopted daughter in the Sterling family.
“I should get out,” Allison said quickly, her hand already reaching for the door handle. But then she heard his low, unfamiliar voice cut through the silence.
“Did the car hit you?”
Her pulse quickened. “No, I just got sacred and fell.”
“Where are you going?”
“Back to school.” The words had barely left her mouth when the car pulled away from the club’s parking lot.
As they reached the main gate, she spotted a taxi waiting by the roadside. It was probably the one she’d called earlier.
But she didn’t have the nerve to ask Richard to let her out, us

he’d already given her permission to ride with him.

To be honest. Allison had barely any connection with Richard. Every year when he came home for Christmas, she would get one of his expensive holiday gifts. That was it.
But then again, all the younger family members got presents. She wasn’t special.
Even though Allison was adopted, she was still a part of the Sterling family.
If she had to think of any real interaction between them… it would be that incident at Dylan’s birthday party.
The atmosphere in the car felt suffocating and cold. It was so quiet Allison could hear her own heartbeat.
She stole a glance upward.
Richard kept his eyes down, focused on the documents in his hands. It seemed like having one more or one less person in the car made absolutely no difference to him.
But he really was incredibly handsome. Even his eyelashes were long, and he had this perfectly straight nose. His features looked like they’d been carved by a master sculptor. There wasn’t a single flaw anywhere.
At thirty–two, his face still looked young, but he carried himself with such coldness and restraint that it made people afraid to
get too close.

If I hadn’t been drugged and out of my mind last time, how would I have ever had the nerve to knock on Uncle Richard’s door?
“Seen enough?” Richard’s voice cut through the silence. He didn’t even look up from his documents.
Allison’s breath caught in her throat. When he finally glanced her way, she quickly looked anywhere but at him.
“I–I thought you went back to New York. What are you doing here, Uncle Richard?” she stammered.
Does he have eyes on the top of his head or something? How did he know I was staring? This is embarrassing!
“I have a business meeting,” he said simply.
“Oh.”
The driver’s voice interrupted her thoughts. “Ms. Williams, we’ve arrived.”
Allison looked out the window to see the school gates.
She didn’t rush to get out, instead turning to Richard with an awkward but sincere expression. “Thank you for last time, Uncle Richard. And… for not saying anything.”
“I’m not interested in your mess,” Richard replied, his tone flat and indifferent.
