Chapter 57 A Date
Kristen's POV
My friends and I were given a special spa treatment at Calhoun's Hotel before we were taken to an elite boutique to shop for dresses. Calhoun has already paid for everything in advance and I've never seen my friends this euphoric before.
They're so glad he asked them to join me and they keep singing praises about him.
I'm here wondering why Calhoun is doing this, I never asked him for anything. Even my friends told me to loosen up and enjoy myself because I seem to be too uptight.
The boutique manager takes me to a different section and shows me a red dress.
"Alpha Calhoun specially handpicked this one for you,"
"Really?"
"He wants you to wear it tonight, with the heels."
Why is he doing this? Something doesn't seem right at all.
And when my eyes meet the price tag on the red dress, my jaw drops in shock.
A whopping 3,000,000 dollars.
Is he insane? Wanting to squander such an amount of money on me?
It's a beautiful strapless red with a long slit in front and the back is bare. It's indeed of a high quality but I'm not sure I'm wearing that dress ever.
"Refund the money,"
"What?"
"I'm sorry I can't put it on,"
"But we don't get a refund, miss. Alpha Calhoun wants you to wear it when you meet with him tonight."
"It's too much," I am still interjecting when my friends make their way over here.
"What's going on?" Sapphire is the first to ask.
And the manager explains to them before showing them the dress.
Their mouths gape and they blink as if they can barely believe their eyes.
"Are you insane, Kristen? This dress is frigging $3,000,000."
"That's why I want them to refund Calhoun his money."
"No, that's impossible. Calhoun saw the price tag before he paid for you, the man has more than enough to spend on you." "But.."
"No more protests, Kristen. You're wearing this dress for Calhoun."
Twenty minutes later, I am standing in front of the full-length mirror, cursing whatever I can curse because my friends literally force me into the dress.
It fits perfectly, hugging all of my subtle curves. Calhoun does have a good eye and it's shocking to realize he knows my size of clothing.
The slit of the dressing starts from my upper thigh, exposing my leg, and my back is bare too.
Maddy and Sapphire gush at how pretty I look.
But I just threw them glares because I never would've worn this dress if they weren't present.
The chauffeur takes us to where Calhoun was already waiting. Surprisingly it's not his hotel but one of the most expensive places to ever exist on planet Earth.
King's Diner.
There's no lift to take us up since it's already 50 feet away from the ground, so it's a helicopter that takes up.
One can stare and take a full view of half the town, right from here.
Thankfully I'm not scared of heights, else I would've fainted by now.
My friends step down from the helicopter after I do, and their bodies cannot even contain their excitement.
Happiness shoots through me when I see Calhoun with his back to me. He's clad in all white and when his hair is slicked backwards.
The marble floor has blue lights glinting underneath as I approach Calhoun.
As if sensing my presence, Calhoun turns.
His eyes do a once-over at my appearance
And the smile on his face is contagious.
"You look breathtaking stunning, Kristen," he says when I reach his side.
"Did you have to do this? We can't go down without a helicopter."
"We've never been on a real date before, have we?"
"You took me to your cottage in a remote area, and then your hotel."
Calhoun chuckles to himself upon hearing this from me.
"These are my friends, Maddy and Sapphire," stepping out of the way, I do the introduction.
"Hi, Alpha Calhoun. It's so nice to meet you," Sapphire is the first to stretch her hand for a handshake, which Calhoun accepts with a warm smile.
"I believe this is the third time we're meeting, first was at the club, second on the yacht, and now on King's Diner," Maddy is talking faster than normal.
And Calhoun finds this funny.
He takes my hand before leading us to sit at the large table.
There are chefs and waiters up here, waiting to cook any dish we'll request.
"He's one of the best chefs known amongst all packs on the Eastside," Calhoun informs us, and my friend's mouth parts in amazement.
Upon looking around, I don't see Bruce anywhere.
"You're expecting to see someone?" Calhoun snaps his head back before returning his eyes to me.
"Your Beta isn't here," I say, still looking around.
"You wanted to see him?" He puts on a wry face now.
"I'm just surprised because he's always by your side," I state matter-of-factly.
"Maybe I don't want him around me tonight," Calhoun leans forward and kisses the side of my lips.
My friends exchange glances and try to control themselves from giggling.
And it's the little things done by Calhoun that make my heart flutter in my chest.
The night goes by with Calhoun talking with my friends and getting to know them. Several mouth-watering dishes are served and we drink expensive wine that I don't even want to think about the cost when I'm already wearing a dress of three million dollars, money which I haven't seen in my whole life before.
What is Calhoun up to? Why did he spend so much money, just for a date when all four of us could've gone to a less expensive place?
"Right behind you," Calhoun points, and when I follow his finger, I don't see anything.
Collective gasps from my friends make me pull my head backward, and then I see Calhoun already holding a ring.
"What are you doing?" I ask when he leaves his side of the table and nears mine.
"Marry me, Kristen."
