Chapter 102 A Distressed Alpha

Chapter 102 A Distressed Alpha

Calhoun's POV
It's been two days yet I am unable to face Kristen, even though I miss her more than life itself.
I've never seen her look so hurt before. The way she stared at me keeps killing me when I had flashbacks. And it keeps tormenting the shit out of my senses.
Had I known, I never would've tagged alongside Bruce to finalize those documents, but I had no idea Alpha Morrison wasn't joining us but his daughter, Emilia.
Only God knows how heartbroken my mate currently is. I don't even know how I'd have reacted if someone had sent such a video of Ben and a naked and an asleep Kristen to me.
Maybe Ben Gregory would have been dead by now.
Emilia caused a huge problem for me and Kristen, that Kristen couldn't believe everything I said... She now sees me as a liar and a cheat.
She's starting to question everything and it hurts so bad because she's the only thing I love in this world.
I haven't visited since she walked me out of her apartment, and I am staying away because I am too chicken to face her, anything which comes out of my mouth is now like poison to her.
She thinks I have betrayed her, when in reality I was drugged with food and then Emiliar Dante slept with me, filmed, and sent our naked bodies to her.
Who would even believe me if I make this explanation?
It's fucking insane. That the girl had such a plan in mind and put up an innocent facade all along.
Over the past two days, I spent my evenings drinking myself to a stupor and waking up the next morning with a hangover. I've been locked up in my room since I returned from Kristen's school apartment.
A knock comes in three rows, disrupting me from my thoughts.
"Alpha Calhoun?" It's Bruce.
"Go away," I growl.
"It's been two days since you last went to the office, people are starting to talk," Bruce points out Andi can swear he's sighing with his hands on his waist.
"I don't want to see your face right now, Bruce. Just get the hell away from the door." I command with my voice firm, not wanting any room for argument.
"Are you still upset with me?" Bruce suddenly asks and if he was in front of me, I would have connected my fist to his fucking jaw.
"I might wring your neck if you show your face in here," I warn quietly, hoping this will turn him away.
"I told you I'm sorry," Bruce whines like a five-year-old who was denied his favorite candies.
"It won't change anything, the deed has already been done," I grit
out.
"I had no idea that Emilia Dante could do such a thing to you," Bruce pauses to sigh. I can remember telling him everything when he was sober the previous day after the incident. And my hand was on his throat because I pinned him into a wall. So he knows everything.
"And I was stupid to get smitten by her in the first place when she was a green snake under green grass all along if only I wasn't knocked down by whatever drugs she used on us," Bruce adds.
"Get the fuck out, Bruce. I don't want to listen to your sob story right now." My voice is much louder and more authoritative than before. There's a pause and I am starting to think he's finally listened to me and left, but then I hear the bastard clear his throat.
"I know you hate me now because I'm at fault. If only I hadn't persuaded you into staying back, none of that would've happened. Kristen would be here by now."
"Dammit, don't mention her name. You're only worsening things here." I am so exasperated because I was hoping to be alone.
"I think you should go see her," Bruce says.
"She doesn't want me around," I wave this off and try to drink from my liquor bottle, only to realize it's empty. I'll have to call the attention of a butler to bring me another bottle.
"Kristen is turning you away because she's unaware of the truth," Bruce continues as if he knows it all.
"She thinks I'm a liar and a cheat," I swipe my hand with the back of my palm and then pause to wonder why I'm evening making this known to him when he's the one time be blamed here.
"Kristen thinks I'm giving her the same treatment I gave to Natalie," I sigh.
"Dammit, this is bad," Bruce's voice sounds a bit muffled, and I can tell he's already facepalming.
Still, he ignores all of my earlier warnings and opens the door. There, I see him standing at the doorway, clad in his work outfit.
"Were you deaf when I warned you not to show your face?" I ask.
While he comes in, leans on a nearby wall and folds his arms across
his chest.
"You need to get out of here, Calhoun. It's been two days since you've locked yourself in here and cut off communication with the outside world." He points out
"Go away," I warn because he's starting to be disrespectful toward
me.
"You look and smell like shit," Bruce wrinkles his nose in disgust as
he looks at me.
"I'm warning you," I growl, glaring icily at him.
"It's not the first time, Calhoun. You've threatened me with death several times, yet you've done nothing," Bruce dares shoot me a
challenging look.
I ignore him.
"This pack needs you, alright? You can't keep slacking off," He
shoots me a disappointed look.
"Kristen hates me," I rasp out because it feels like I am going through a heartbreak or something.
"Doesn't mean you'll reduce into a shadow of yourself," Bruce
shakes his head at me and shoves his fists into his pants pocket.
"I feel fucked up," my voice is rough when I let this out because I can see Kristen's tearful face once more.
"You're innocent, you just need to be your old self to be able to tackle this issue. Kristen loves you, she might feel betrayed and upset but
she'll eventually crave your presence and miss you."
"How do you even know?" I raise a brow at him.
"Because I know," Bruce seems way too confident for my liking right
now. He's supposed to be feeling like shit.
"Get out," I order.
"Only if you agree to freshen up and step out," Bruce even slides into
one of my couches.
"I don't want to," I disagree.
"You didn't make me your beta for nothing, I am also like a younger
brother who looks out for you," he gives me a small smile. Something which I was to knock off his face. With a punch. "You're starting to seem violent lately, Alpha Calhoun. Although it's understandable, I can tell you want to punch me until I pass out." Bruce is smart enough to discern this. He leaves the couch this time and walks over to the window, before opening the curtains. "Don't you even air out your room?" He gives me a little frown.
"I don't need this right now," I rise to my feet. Because the gust of
the wind is starting to wear out my anger. It's surprising.
"Will you have me call in Nana Joyce?" Bruce turns to me with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"Why the fuck would you even do that?" I blink, a bit confused because I don't want my grandmother here right now.
"She's your grandmother and she'll spend hours cautioning you," He says.
Sighing, I facepalm. Because he's right.
"Nana Joyce isn't aware Kristen isn't here, she'll freak out if she
finds out."
"Just come out and be yourself again, Calhoun. We need you."
Come to think of it, Bruce is right at this point. I can't remain stuck in here like a bag of over-whipped potatoes. I have to attend to my pack and my company.
