Chapter 228 Trap

Chapter 228 Trap

Adeline posted the news of Rhiannon being in Avalonia on Facebook, complete with photos and videos.

At first, many people questioned whether her photos were AI-generated. But soon, several of Indigo's graduate students came forward to confirm that Indigo had indeed become Rhiannon's attending physician and was treating her at Harmony Health Center in Avalonia. The online discussion exploded again.

[Ms. Stewart has been in Avalonia all along. Who started the rumor?]

[Is that foreign hospital crazy for money? Are they that desperate for fame?]

[I thought she had fled to escape justice. With Adeline by her side, the online rumors must be false, right?]

[Why would anyone start a rumor like that? If Ms. Stewart was missing, wouldn't her family be looking for her?]

Seeing the tide of public opinion turn, Ronald also breathed a sigh of relief. "Mr. Foster, send more people to the hospital. Make sure no unauthorized personnel enter the room."

Tate immediately stood up. "Yes, I'll arrange it right away. What about the medical records?"

"It's done." Opal said, rushing into the office with Delta in her arms. "Delta's classmate's mother used to be a colleague of Amara's. She discovered that Amara had connections to the black market abroad and had sold a lot of medical equipment and jewelry. This is the information I got."

Opal handed a file to Ronald. It contained records of Amara's black-market dealings over the years, as well as her illegal income. "Mr. Williams, these jewels are from the Jones Group. Edwin bought them back at extremely high prices and then sold them at low prices. I suspect they're also laundering money."

Opal had been a chairman's secretary for many years and was well-versed in the industry's secrets. Her greatest asset, besides her abilities, was the network of contacts she had built up over the years. There were many things Ronald might not be able to find out, but she could.

Ronald looked at her seriously. "Thank you for your hard work, Ms. Ross. Let Delta stay at the company today. The office is big enough. If you have to work late, she can come to the office."

"Is that appropriate?" Opal asked, looking at him nervously. No large company would allow an employee to bring their child to work.

But Ronald just gave her a reassuring look and said, "The child can stay, but the work must be done well. Help me prepare for a press conference. I have some things to clarify."

When Adeline received Ronald's text, she had just finished massaging Rhiannon. Rhiannon couldn't move now and had to rely on massage to maintain muscle vitality.

Seeing Ronald's message that he had obtained the evidence and was about to expose the crimes of the Murphy and Jones families, Adeline quickly looked at Rhiannon. "Ms. Stewart, Ronald is going to release the evidence you found. He must be very confident."

"Really?" Rhiannon gripped Adeline's hand tightly. "Has he also found out how your grandmother died?"

Adeline's expression faltered for a moment, then she nodded. "Yes. Ronald found some witnesses from back then. This time, he'll definitely be able to put the real culprits in prison."

Hearing this, Rhiannon closed her eyes tightly, tears silently streaming down her face. Adeline gently wiped them away. "Ms. Stewart, this is a happy occasion. Don't be sad. My grandmother will be truly happy in heaven."

Rhiannon opened her eyes, her gaze red-rimmed. "Really?"

"Of course." Adeline said, tightly holding her cold hands. "You were her best friend. You caught the person who killed her. She'll be happy. She'll say, 'Rhiannon, you've worked so hard all these years.'" As Adeline spoke, a tear fell from her own eye, but her lips were still curved in a smile. If Nancy were alive, she would be happy. The truth was finally coming to light.

After dinner, Adeline watched the sleeping Rhiannon, then lay down on the sofa and slowly closed her eyes. Having been up all night, she quickly fell asleep.

She didn't know how many times her phone had vibrated before she groggily answered. "Hello."

"Adeline, it's me."

Hearing Allen's voice, Adeline was instantly awake. Seeing that Rhiannon was still asleep and Ronald hadn't come home, she quickly went out to the balcony. "What is it?"

"Adeline, my father was involved in what happened back then." Allen's voice was panicked. The wind outside made it hard for Adeline to hear clearly. "What happened back then?"

"The pink diamond, and what happened to your grandmother." Allen's words came out in a rush. "My father cooperated with the Murphy family. He was smart enough to keep the evidence at the Jones Villa. He's been saying he's been feeling anxious these past few days. He just got drunk and spilled everything. I'm going to the Jones Villa now."

Adeline gripped her phone, not believing a word he said. But his next sentence gave her a reason she couldn't refuse.

"Your parents also know about the evidence. They should be at the Jones Villa by now. They're not part of the Jones family, so they definitely can't get in. Call them quickly and tell them not to do anything rash. I'll be there soon."

Adeline hurriedly hung up and tried calling Sandra and Ryder several times, but no one answered. She could only call Sylvia, who answered immediately. "Adeline, your parents came to Solara City. I heard they were going to look for some evidence. Do you know about this? The signal on their end is bad. They just said that, and then the line went dead. Do you know where they are?"

"I think I do." Adeline's voice was dry.

Just then, Allen sent her the location of the Jones Villa. Seeing that it wasn't far from Harmony Health Center, Adeline took a deep breath. "Aunt Sylvia, my parents should be in the city. I'm going to find them now."

The Jones Villa was in a high-end residential area near Harmony Health Center. But it was a high-end area from ten years ago and had become somewhat rundown. Still, there were many residents, and the brightly lit streets helped to ease Adeline's fear.

Seeing her parents' car parked in a spot in front of a villa, Adeline instinctively looked at the house. "Mom, Dad, are you there?" She called out a few times, but there was no response. Yet she could clearly see that the lights inside the villa were on.

She took out her phone again and this time, when she called Sandra, the call was answered immediately. But it was Allen's voice that came from behind her. "Adeline, are you looking for Mrs. Smith? She's in the villa. Let's go in now."

Adeline whipped around and saw Sandra's phone in Allen's hand. The phone charm was one she had made herself. Before she could speak, she saw the gun in Allen's hand. Her eyes widened. "Allen, are you crazy? I don't believe you'd dare to use a gun!"

"You can try me." Allen said with a smile, extending his hand towards her. "There's also a gun pointed at your father's head right now. If you make a move, my man will pull the trigger. Anyway, everyone knows Rhiannon might be the one who killed your grandmother. So it would be perfectly reasonable for the Williams family to kill your whole family, right?"
