Chapter 229: Allen is Arrested

Chapter 229: Allen is Arrested

Adeline pushed open the villa's heavy doors with trembling hands. A musty smell, a testament to its long vacancy, rushed out to greet them.

The villa was dim, with only a floor lamp in the corner of the living room casting a faint glow. Adeline's parents were tied to chairs, their mouths sealed with tape, their eyes wide with terror. Seeing Adeline, they shook their heads frantically, their eyes pleading with her to leave.

Allen tossed the gun aside and sat down on the sofa with a smile. "Adeline, you're still so cute. How could I possibly get a real gun? You silly girl."

"Allen, you bastard!" Adeline was about to lunge at him when he suddenly said, "But the poison I gave them is real. Gemma's mother is a genius. A simple combination of drugs can create a poison. How long do you think your parents have left?" His gaze shifted to Sandra and Ryder. "Mr. and Mrs. Smith, I've always wanted to meet you. I never thought it would be like this. But don't worry, I'll let you go once I get the diamond."

"Allen, let them go!" Adeline tried to stay calm, but her voice still trembled.

Allen tutted. "Adeline, there are conditions for an exchange. I heard that one-hundred-carat pink diamond is at your house. Are you willing to give it to me?"

"One hundred carats? Allen, don't you know whether my family has a diamond or not?" Adeline took a step back, subconsciously reaching for her pocket, only to remember that Allen had taken her phone.

Allen sneered. "Adeline, if I dared to bring you here, of course I know everything. The biggest diamond is at your house. Your grandmother died and left the diamond to you. You think I don't know?"

Ryder struggled violently, shaking his head, but Allen gave him no chance to speak, his eyes fixed on Adeline.

"If you didn't have the diamond, do you think Ronald would be interested in you? Besides your face, what else do you have?" Allen looked at Adeline with venom in his eyes. "What kind of beauty hasn't Ronald seen? Why would he be interested in you? It must be for that diamond. My father said that the one-hundred-carat pink diamond is the best of the three. Ronald is also after that diamond. It must be!"

"If the diamond isn't in your possession, then there's nothing I can do. Your parents will die from an 'accidental' overdose. As for you," his voice suddenly turned vicious, "it would be perfectly reasonable for you to commit suicide from the shock, right?"

"Allen!" Adeline glared at him, then took a deep breath. She glanced at her parents, saw the "no" in their eyes, and sniffled. "Allen, the pink diamond does belong to the Smith family, but it's not at my house."

"Where is it?" Allen shot up from his seat.

"In a bank safe deposit box." Adeline said, taking the key from around her neck. "A bank safe deposit box can hold anything. It's the safest place, isn't it?"

Allen stared at her, then suddenly burst out laughing. "Right! So many people couldn't find the diamond. How could you possibly carry it with you? It must be in a bank!" He walked up to Adeline and snatched the key from her hand. "Good. Which bank? Don't worry, as soon as I get the pink diamond, I'll let them go."

Just as he finished speaking, several burly men came down from upstairs.

"Mr. Jones, your ex-girlfriend is really pretty!"

"Can we have her stay and play with us for a while?"

"So delicate. No wonder you couldn't bear to let her go."

Allen raised an eyebrow at Adeline. "Adeline, I told you, you'd regret breaking up with me!" His eyes gleamed with a sense of vengeance, a smile playing on his lips.

Sandra frantically shook her chair, making a piercing noise.

A man slapped her hard across the face. "Be quiet! Or I'll kill you first!"

Adeline clenched her fists, her eyes bloodshot as she stared at Allen. "Allen, without me, you can't open the bank's safe deposit box! Do you think the bank won't verify my identity?"

Allen checked the time, then nodded. "Fine. We'll wait a few hours until morning." He tossed her phone to her. "Tell Ronald you're with your parents. Don't try any tricks. I'll be watching you."

Adeline picked up the phone and, seeing the missed calls, dialed the number.

"On speaker." Allen tutted.

The moment the call connected, Adeline put it on speaker.

"Adeline, where are you? Why aren't you in the hospital room?" Ronald's anxious voice came through.

Adeline tried her best to control her trembling voice and said calmly, "Honey, my parents are in Solara City. I'm staying with them tonight, so I won't be back. Dr. Valois said Ms. Stewart has a blood test tomorrow. She can't eat anything. Don't forget."

Before Ronald could speak, Adeline continued, "My parents are rushing me. I have to go now."

Allen immediately hung up and turned off the phone. "Well done. You can rest for a few hours now, honey."

Ronald stared at the disconnected call, his brow furrowed. Adeline never called him "honey." Rhiannon was on an IV drip and wouldn't be eating anything... He was silent for only a few seconds before he walked out of the hospital and made a call. "Officer, my girlfriend and her family might be in trouble. I need to request a special investigation."

At the crack of dawn, Allen took Adeline from the villa. They walked into the bank just as it opened.

"Miss, how may I help you?" a staff member greeted them with a smile.

Adeline's eyes lit up when she saw the woman. She quickly nodded. "Hello, I need to retrieve something from my safe deposit box." She handed her driver's license to the woman, who smiled and nodded. "Okay, I'll check for you right now."

Adeline clenched her fists, her heart in her throat. The woman in front of her wasn't a bank employee, but the female police officer, Tamsin, whom she had met before.

Allen didn't notice anything unusual, just warily scanned his surroundings.

Tamsin typed something on the computer, then stood up. "Ms. Smith, your safe deposit box requires both you and the bank manager to open it. Please follow me." She made a gesture, and Adeline immediately followed.

But Allen, who was behind Adeline, was stopped.

"I came with my girlfriend. Why are you stopping me?" Allen asked, dissatisfied.

"Bank regulations state that only the owner is allowed to access the safe deposit box. I'm very sorry." Tamsin explained with a smile.

Allen was about to say something else when Adeline quickly interjected, "Don't worry, I'll be right out. My parents are waiting for us to go back for dinner."

Remembering that Adeline's parents were still in his hands, Allen finally nodded. "Okay, then be quick."

Adeline clenched her fists and followed Tamsin as quickly as she could. The next second, she heard a thud behind her, followed by Allen's curses.

"Adeline, you bitch! You dared to call the police!"
