Alex's POV
We all freeze as all eyes are turned on me. I consider ignoring it, Alessia is more important to me right now but then again family and duty rivals my own needs all the time and duty will always win. Its just how I was raised .

My phone starts ringing again persistently and loudly, resigned I reach into my pocket and grab my phone staring at the screen . I stare at the screen for a few heaetbeats I feel Luca leaning over my shoulder peeping at my screen too. It's Anto, cold
dread fills me as my hand starts to tremble. Something is up at the Ferrini Mansion! While my life here is spiralling out of control. Dios Mio.
"Alex answer it I am sure its important" Luca whispers softly . I nod , taking a deep breath to calmy already frayed nerves , then slid the answer button pressing the phone to my ear as I fix my gaze on the upturned table and shattered remains of my earlier fit of rage.
Me: Ferrini here I bark into the phone. I hear him taking a fee deep breaths.
Anto: Good Evening Sir ,Sorry to disturb you but we had an attempted break in at the Ferrini Mansion.
I curse under my breath ,Pausin to reign in my anger . Truth is by now all of sicily probably know I am away on a trip it could be any one of Thomas's Lackeys testing my fortress. The annoying part is I am too far away to do anything about it. Bastardi! All of them who would dare such ?
Me:Were they successful? I ask calmly even though I am nothing but.
Luca stiffens on my side mumbling under his breath as we continue to talk . The ladies remain quiet seated opposite us on a dark blue love seat hands folded on their laps looking everywhwre but at me . Pretending not to listen but I know they can hear every word.
Anto: No Signore we caught them at with the new back gate trap you set up.
I snicker , Relief flooding my veins as my anger calms down a bit . I remember when I installed that trap very well and I am glad its been put to good use.
Me: Good, question them while they are still trapped then feed them to the crocodiles .
I raise my eyes locking my gaze with Angelica and Lucy ( the seer) as my words register in their mind . Their eyes widen with fear for a moment before they mask it .But it was there and It gives me a huge sense of satisfaction .Now Lucy knows I am ruthless she wont try and play both sides .
I clench my jaw tight and carry on with my conversation ."One moment Anto, Are there any casualties?”
I wait for a few seconds..
Anto: No signore, but whoever sent them knew about our patrol guards rotation time.They striked during then and that information is not public.
I take a few steps away from the others “So you think it was a hit by one of Thomas's Men or ?"
"Yes Signore" Anto says firmly "They are trying to pass a massage across"
A chilling cold realisation hits me squarely in the chest.
Me:if that is the case then send them their heads as a token!
I hear the ladies gasp behind me but I dont turn around. I am not one of the most feared Mafia lords in Sicily or nothing. I have to send a message. In blood.
Me:Make sure you find out just who sent them.
Anto: Already on it signore, we will get answers. One way or the other.
Me: stay on it Anto and don't let anyone try to slip through your guard again.
Anto: Si signore, I will send you an update when I have more.
I end the call, then pocket the phone.Straightening my shoulders before turning around and strolling back to the others my steps calculated and calm as if I am not holding my entire world by the seams of its thread. Luca takes a deep breath "So now you have an attempted break in to deal with too"
"Yes Luca" I say flatly "Almost as if both were orchestrated by the same adversary"
Lucas expression turns pensive "That is something we will need to look into, with the advance of technology Anyone can be connected to anyone"
Luca claps his hands once ."We can use Dinner to start looking for clues, it won't just be a social gathering”
But of course I reply smoothly "That's the first battlefield"
Angelica shudders reaching for Lucys hands and clutching her for support “There is no better place to start, but Lucy should take a peek in Signore Alex’s mind first so she can get a grasp of the signature of the spell” Angelica adds softly and I nod
Inwardly, My thoughts seem to be sprirralling.

I need to get to the bottom of things and I need to do it fast before I lose Alessia for good. Leaning back on the sofa once more I beckon lucy “Do whatever you need to do ,time is off the essence and we can't miss dinner tonight”
Luca looks to Angelica then lucy giving her a nod before standing up to walk quickly nehind the sofa and stand guard holding my shoulder down . I squeeze his hand once ever grateful for the gift of brotherhood and friendship. Angeliva remains in her chair studying us her expression everything but calm .I snicker but she of all people should know I don't harm innocent people only those who cross me .
I turn to Lucy as she approaches slowly her eyes downcast like she is still wary of me because of what she heard earlier . I am more than comfortable with that because fear makes people behave .Once she in front of me , standing in between my legs she reaches for a balm in her pocket bringing it out she dabs a small portion on to her fingertips and faces me “ May I?” I lock my eyes with her and nod “Go ahead “
