Chapter 95 Confrontation(2)
Alessia’s POV
I face him squarely as the symbols in the room start to glow and a slight wind picks up. His brows draw together in a frown “Alessia I beg you to give me a chance to explain”
“I should give you a chance to explain what? You have dictated enough.” I respond calmly as I start pacing. My fire is spreading towards my arms now as the wind in the room also picks up. Books start flying around as I hear his glass cup shatter on the ground. The heat continues to rise steadily filling all my bones, the air responding subtly to my magic.
“Now ,It's time you listened to me Signor Alex Ferrini”
He freezes, eyes wide with shock ,meeting mine. The flame appears this time hovering on my open left palm as the wind becomes still.
“Do you know what the worst part of all of this is?” I ask calmly as I pace around the room, Not waiting for his response I carry on . “it's not even about the women. His jaw ticks as he remains quiet and still.
“It is the time you chose to misbehave” I whisper. “I barely parted from you for a few hours. To face my fears. To be able to start learning who and what I am.” Pausing I glance at him as he flinches as If I struck him. At least he still has a conscience “So I can help you you retrieve your precious La Rosa”
I lift my left hand as the flame continues to hover
“While I was busy doing that. Risking my life you were here in this secluded nirvana. Drinking, giggling, and letting strange women touch you!”
“Alessia please understand” he says quickly “I can't remember how or when they got here, I was drinking and -”
I look at him in wonder, he must think I am
NAIVE to take such a silly excuse. Scoffing I ask “Am I supposed to accept that as some sort of excuse?”
He shakes his head and remains silent for a moment. “Alex, do you know what I gave up for you?” I ask calmly
He looks at me his eyes filled with remorse and a hint of pain.
I revel in it
Let it burn him alive for all I care!!!
I said “No to Frederic” I say “ My mothers choice”
He lets out a shocked breath as his eyes fill with jealousy.
The name landed just where I wanted it to land
His heart
His brushed ego
“He was my mothers choice for a reason” I continue pacing again “She had promised my hand in marriage to him before I even knew what that meant.” I take a deep calming breath “A blood pact ,Our fates written together, sealed and accepted”
The flame in my hand glows brighter, taller and does not flicker. “Frederic is supposed to be my soul mate” I add quietly “By every witch law that governs my world”
Alex takes a step closer to me “Alessia please”
I face him my voice dripping with disdain “Alex I am still talking do not interrupt me again”
My words sound soft but the feeling behind it is not and he knows. He stops and doesn't take another step. “I damned it all for you” I say “Not because it was an easy choice” I stare into his dark as night remorseful eyes .
“Not because I believed you could do a better job at keeping me safer” Tilting my head I blink back my tears furiously.
“I chose you knowing it will cost me the covens support and protection” I can't stop the words from tumbling out, I need to let it all go.My heart needs closure and I want to inflict as much pain as he has inflicted on me.
“I picked you knowing fully well my coven will judge me and find you wanting”
My hands tremble slightly but my fire remains stable.
“And what I did I come back to?”I gesture around the room “Is this what I deserve for my choice?
I ask bitterly.
I watch him as he bows his head in shame “Alessia please, we didn't do anything”
I let out a short laugh “Alex you still do not understand” I say
“Betrayal doesn't start when you have sex with a person it starts from the moment you leave your door open.” I take a few steps towards him. Now we are about an arms length apart.
“You made a choice to not wait for me.” I whisper “Making my own sacrifice for you a joke!I am sure the entire coven will have a field day today” I can just imagine Enyas laughter and Frederics sarcastic remarks.
He sucks in a deep breath “Alessia you know that is not true, besides don't you think all of this.” He waves his hand around the finished glasses of wine and the bottle “Is a little too convenient?” he says hoarsely.
I meet his gaze once more his black eyes clashing with my glowing gold irises.
I look at him “You can't point fingers at anyone in La Casa without proof Alex” I take a few deep breaths. It will even be rude, they have been very gracious hosts.
“Alex you should also know this, I will not beg you for assurances and I will never compete for a man's attention.”
I take a small step back as my flame leans towards him eager to wreck havoc his eyes widen but he says nothing.
“If you ever try something like this again I continue evenly. You will lose me.” Taking one deep calming breath I pull my fire back squeezing my left hand into a fist and extinguishing the flame.
Alex stares at my left hand in shock and disbelief “How do you do that so effortlessly?”
I smirk at him
“That's for me to know, since you obviously don't give a damn”
“You had better decide what you really want Alex” I say finally “because I am not going to sit around waiting for you to catch up to me or treat me like second fiddle!”
Stepping back, I turn towards the door not glancing back even once. As I walk out of the room with my head held high begging the tears not to fall until I am behind the closed doors of our bedroom.
