Chapter 47 Making Quentin Embarrassed (2)
The second video clip started with several teachers being called into the office one after another, and soon enough, Amelia was called in too.
The teachers were grading Amelia's test right there.
Through the zoomed-in surveillance camera, it was clear that all her answers were correct. Even the subjective questions in Language Arts hit all the scoring points.
Except for the blank essay section, Amelia's test had no mistakes, so she scored full marks in all subjects except Language Arts.
When Clio doubted Amelia's integrity and accused her of cheating, Amelia boldly suggested that the teachers test her on the spot. She claimed that if she got even one question wrong, her scores would be invalidated.
Her arrogance was astonishing.
These teachers had been teaching for years and had never encountered such a confident and audacious student who dared to let them test her with any question they deemed difficult.
For the next half hour, the teachers took turns giving her questions, and Amelia answered them on the spot.
The scary part was that Amelia's expression remained unchanged the entire time; she looked calm and composed.
She glanced at each question for just a few seconds, barely pausing to think before writing down all the steps and answers on the paper.
It was as if she knew the answers at a glance, without needing to think hard at all.
When Amelia finished all the questions and the teachers found that she had answered them all correctly, everyone in the office, including Clio, who had been so sure Amelia was cheating, was left speechless.
Quentin, who was watching the video on his phone, was also stunned.
All the teachers gave her questions on the spot, yet Amelia could write down the answers after just a glance.
Who could be so effortlessly competent?
At Prestige High School, everyone acknowledged Zander as a genius, and Rachel was also considered a genius by association. People talked about them with admiration.
But Quentin knew that Rachel's good exam scores were the result of her cramming and staying up late for a week before each test, often until two or three in the morning.
She just pretended not to study in front of others, making it seem like she had a high IQ and could easily score high.
But Amelia?
This level of "test me on anything, and if I get one wrong, I lose" couldn't be achieved by merely staying up late to study.
Amelia was the real genius, wasn't she?
Was her middle-of-the-road performance at her rural high school because she didn't care to be first?
Quentin suddenly remembered what he had said to Amelia earlier.
He had advised her that if she had bought the answers or cheated, she should admit it early and leave Prestige High School. Otherwise, if Jeffrey Adams found out and expelled her, the Martinez and Williams families would have to clean up the mess for her.
Amelia, who could answer all the questions on the spot and leave the teachers speechless, needed to buy answers or cheat to get into Class A?
Expel her? With Amelia's intelligence, she'd easily get into Aurora College. Why would Jeffrey expel her?
He should be treating her well and making sure she didn't transfer.
Quentin, holding his phone, recalled Amelia's disdainful look earlier and felt his face heat up.
He felt like he was drunk, almost dizzy.
No wonder she looked at him with such disdain and called him an idiot. In hindsight, what he said was indeed foolish.
Quentin had never felt so embarrassed.
Ben, unaware of Quentin's earlier encounter with Amelia, took back his phone after Quentin finished watching the video.
"So, were you just as shocked?"
"Others pretend to be great, but Amelia is genuinely amazing. I never believed in geniuses until I met Zander, and now, for the second time, Amelia."
Ben leaned in, "Honestly, Quentin, I used to think Mr. Williams was crazy for forcing you into an engagement with some country girl because of some old agreement."
"It's the modern age, after all. But now, I see Mr. Williams has incredible foresight."
"Look at her looks. When Amelia walked into the classroom, which boy wasn't staring at her?"
"People used to say Rachel was pretty, but Amelia is clearly more beautiful."
"Amelia doesn't even wear makeup and dresses plainly. Imagine how stunning she'd be if she dressed up."
Quentin couldn't help but think of his first meeting with Amelia.
Yes, she looked stunning even with minimal effort. He had witnessed it that night.
Ben continued, "And her intelligence. Rachel has always been second at Prestige High School, but her highest score was just under 700."
"Amelia's answers were all correct. If she had written the essay, wouldn't she easily score 740 or 750? Can an average person achieve that?"
"If I were you, I'd choose Amelia. Sure, her background isn't great, but with her looks, body, and intelligence, she's worth it."
After Ben's words, Quentin took a deep breath.
Amelia was indeed surprising. No wonder Vaughn had nothing but praise for her after meeting her that night.
But in the end, Quentin was the future heir of the Williams family. If the future Mrs. Williams had such a background, wouldn't people laugh?
"Those are just superficial things. I value character and personality more."
Quentin declared righteously, "Amelia is cold and arrogant, unlike Rachel, who is kind, pure, and always gentle."
"Besides, didn't you see the video of Rachel saving someone at the intersection yesterday? Even Central Media reposted it. Rachel is being praised all over the internet. How can Amelia compare?"
"That's true."
Ben admitted his thoughts were a bit shallow; Quentin had a broader perspective.
But just then, a slight commotion came from the hallway.
Quentin looked up to see a short-haired woman in a shirt, Aria Clark, walking towards them.
Aria held a microphone and had some kind of badge around her neck, looking like a reporter. Behind her was a man carrying a camera.
Aria was accompanied by several people, including a poised woman in her late twenties, Lila, holding the hand of an adorable five or six-year-old boy, Rex. Next to them were two tall, handsome men, Orval and Chris.
Quentin was stunned.
He recognized all of them.
The woman holding Rex's hand was Lila, the wife of Elton Church, the mayor of River City. The boy seemed to be Rex, and the men were Elton's eldest son, Orval, and Chris.
What were they doing at Prestige High School?
Why were they here?
