Chapter 104 Rocky Was Lifted into the Air
In the ring.
At this moment, the support rates and odds for both the red and blue sides had stopped calculating on the big screen.
A quick glance showed that the red side had about 99% support, while the blue side had only 1%.
A stark contrast.
In other words, 99% of the audience had bet on Rocky. The remaining 1% were either thrill-seekers or gamblers hoping for a big payout.
The near-cliff-like disparity in support rates led to odds that far exceeded the highest records of past matches.
Judging by the odds, if Amelia on stage were to win, the 1% who bet on her could turn a few thousand dollars into millions, and a few million dollars into tens of millions.
But to most people, this match was a joke, or Amelia was simply here to get herself killed.
There were few spectators who thought Amelia would win; the outcome was obvious, and no one would throw their money away.
Except for Pearl in the VIP viewing room.
Pearl tilted his head, staring at Amelia on the screen, a deeper smile forming on his lips.
"Pearl, how much did you bet?" Alvin took a deep breath and asked Pearl.
"Not much, five million dollars," Pearl replied calmly.
"Five million dollars isn't much?" Alvin's eyes widened.
For the wealthy, five million dollars might not be much.
But to Alvin, betting five million dollars on Amelia was no different from burning money.
You could burn money for half a day, but Amelia probably wouldn't last a minute on stage.
Alvin wasn't very familiar with Pearl.
He didn't know Pearl's last name, only that he was called Pearl and, like himself, was involved in black market dealings.
For people in their line of work, a name was enough. No one chased after each other's identities or real names.
Running into each other at the underground boxing arena tonight was a coincidence.
Alvin enthusiastically invited Pearl to his VIP viewing room to watch the match together, surprised when Pearl mentioned he'd found someone to fight Rocky.
Rocky was THE DEEP's heavily paid resident fighter, undefeated since his first match. He was ferocious, leaving opponents either dead or nearly so after each fight.
So Alvin was curious about the mysterious Pearl's choice to fight Rocky. Seeing the thin and weak Amelia on stage, he was dumbfounded.
Originally planning to bet with Pearl, Alvin quickly changed his mind and bet on Rocky.
Finding someone like Amelia to fight was one thing, but betting five million dollars on her was another. Alvin wondered if Pearl had lost his mind.
Burning money wasn't done this way.
"Or you could just surrender."
"With that baby face and skinny arms and legs, don't get yourself bloodied or maimed."
On stage, Rocky crossed his arms, which were as thick as Amelia's thighs, and looked her up and down with undisguised disdain.
Out of a sense of twisted humor, his gaze lingered on Amelia's thighs and chest for a few seconds, provoking the crowd into jeers and screams.
Amelia stood on stage, unmoving. Though her face was unclear, her voice was calm.
"Why should I surrender?"
Her cool voice replied.
Speakers around the ring amplified the fighters' shouts and breaths, stirring the audience's primal excitement and passion.
So, at this moment, Amelia's words were heard clearly by everyone.
Amelia looked up at Rocky, who was nearly twice her size, with a hint of sarcasm in her voice.
"How do you know, without even starting, that the loser will definitely be me?"
Her words caused an uproar.
Rocky laughed heartily, as if he'd heard the funniest joke of the year. "Little girl, you don't seriously think you can beat me, do you?"
Rocky had seen plenty of arrogant opponents who thought they could win before a match. But at least they had some capital to back their claims. This frail Amelia, whom he could break with a few fingers, where did she get her confidence?
"Little girl, I gave you a chance. If you want to die, I can't help you."
"Forget the final result. If you can last a minute after the whistle blows, I'll consider myself the loser!"
His eyes and tone were full of provocation.
The audience was equally excited, not expecting to see who would win, but betting on how many seconds Amelia could last against Rocky.
"Is that so."
Amelia's smile was barely noticeable.
"Then I'll return the favor," Amelia looked up, "If you can last a minute after the whistle blows, I'll consider myself the loser."
No one had ever dared to say such words to Rocky in this ring!
Amelia's demeanor and words directly enraged Rocky and ignited the crowd's atmosphere.
With the trash talk over, the referee immediately blew the whistle to start the match.
The moment the whistle blew, Rocky's eyes turned fierce like a caged beast.
He let out a deafening roar and threw a heavy punch at Amelia.
Rocky, as big as a mountain, his muscles bulging, could make anyone's legs go weak just from his presence.
This punch could kill someone!
If it landed on Amelia's head, her brains would splatter!
Just thinking about it seemed too cruel.
Many people instinctively turned away, unable to bear watching the scene on stage.
Everyone thought Rocky's punch would directly KO Amelia.
Rocky thought so too.
But in the next second, he saw Amelia move swiftly.
She was so fast she seemed to leave an afterimage, dodging his punch and moving behind him in less than half a second.
Rocky didn't even have time to react, his fist still extended, when he felt a heavy blow to his lower back.
Amelia had moved behind Rocky, lifted her leg, and kicked him hard.
In the next second, Rocky flew.
Yes, Rocky literally flew.
The beast-like Rocky flew over the rough vine barriers, landing off-stage and rolling three times before stopping.
Even more dramatic, Amelia seemed to have calculated the distance perfectly. If she had kicked harder, Rocky would have flown into the nearest spectator area, potentially killing someone.
The air seemed to freeze.
All the spectators stood dumbfounded, mouths agape.
This underground boxing arena, where adrenaline soared and crowds roared every night, experienced its first complete silence since its establishment.
Amelia stood straight, as if nothing had happened. She looked at the time on the screen and then at Rocky in the distance.
"Five seconds."
Amelia spoke calmly, uttering just one sentence. But the audience knew what she meant.
Rocky hadn't lasted a minute on stage, only five seconds, including his own attack time.
This sentence was highly damaging and extremely insulting.
