Chapter 110 ILLEGAL GOODS.

Chapter 110 ILLEGAL GOODS.

Asher

“We'll be staying with one of our contacts there.” Dima said as he put our luggage into the car. “He is one of our close confidants. He should help us with the investigation.”

My eyes drifted around the place as he spoke. The city was different from the places I had been to.

Maybe because it was near the seaside, the place looked serene and less modern than the big city. The locals rooming around looked like ordinary civilians. I would have never guessed our goods would pass through a place like this or even get missed here.

“This is where we lost contact with our men. The goods should be here somewhere.” Dima said, heading towards the car door.

I sat in the passenger seat and he roared the engine to life.

“I will go to the harbour tomorrow.” Dima said, turning to catch my gaze.

“Okay, I'll go with you.” I said and he parted his lips to speak but I tilted my head slightly and he shut his lips tight.

I turned to fix my seat belt and stopped, “Don't think of going without me. I might do something you wouldn't expect.” I smiled, clicking the seat belt in place.

He sighed, starting the car.

The house was rather secluded compared to how I thought it would have been. We stopped the car, and walked a short distance before we could get there.

“Why somewhere like this?” I asked, trying to catch my breath.

Dima looked at the place, his eyes glistening. He blinked as soon as I spoke, turning to me.

“To seem less suspicious.” He said, smiling before walking in.

I shook my head and followed after. The faces that came into view were somewhat familiar. Not their faces but the expression on them.

The same type of expression I would usually see on Nathaniel's men and in the gang.

Even if their location was so secluded, their faces could give them away.

The men's eyes scanned the both of us and I stood frozen, waiting for Dima to acknowledge one of them.

Someone stepped out from one of the rooms, a suspiciously warm smile on his face. “Welcome. Is there someone you seek?” He asked, stretching out an arm.

I tilted my head slightly, and I could see his other hand which was folded tightly behind his back.

I blinked, raising my head to scan the surroundings. The men with knives now held it in an oddly specific way. My gaze stopped at the door where there were already two men there, hands steady on the handle. I smiled, what amazing collaboration.

Dima didn't say a word, and I could see the man's hand starting to unfold slowly. “If you won't talk, I'll take it as…” he trails off.

The men started inching closer and he had almost unfolded his fists when another person emerged from one of the rooms.

He rushed towards Dima. The same pleasant smile on his face as the first one. I scoffed, there was probably no need for this.

“You've kept me waiting for so long.” The man said, extending a hand out. I turned towards Dima but he actually accepted the hand.

I raised a brow. “Took you long enough. Your men were already starting to see me as a threat.”

The man before him smiled. My eyes scanned the entire room and the men started to retract, returning to whatever they were doing before we walked in.

I sighed, lowering my head.

My reaction seemed to have gotten his attention as he walked closer towards me. “And who is this?” He asked.

I parted my lips to speak but Dima spoke up before I could.

“A friend of mine. I brought him here to help.” Dima said, and he raised a brow at me.

I nodded. “Yes. I'm his friend. Asher.” I said.

The man smiled, turning back to Dima. “I didn't think you would get a friend so quickly. He must be really special for you to call him your friend.” He said, turning back to me, squinting his eyes lightly.

“Yes. He really is special.” Dima said, walking towards us.

“This is Jordan. Here you can call him…” Dima trailed off, turning towards Jordan.

“It's still Jordan.”

“This is Asher.” Dima finished.

Jordan smiled, extending a hand forward but he paused midway. “Wait. That name sounds oddly familiar.” He said, he withdrew his hand, placing it at the back of his head.

“Sounds like someone from your gang?” Jordan asked, turning towards Dima.

Dima nodded. “Yes.”

“Let's not waste more time since we already know each other. Let's talk about those sets of goods.” Dima added.

“Sure.” Jordan said, wrapping his hands around Dima's shoulder. “I've found some clues. We can go talk about it inside.” He said.

Jordan paused, turning towards me. “I've prepared a room for you.” He said, turning towards one of the men present. “Take him to the room I had ready. As for him,” he paused, turning towards Dima.

“He'll be staying with me.” He finished, walking away with Dima by his side.

I handed the bag over to his men and followed them.

“We weren't really able to get much because of our position. You know we are based here, we can't reveal our cards yet.” Jordan insisted, he looked up to catch my gaze when he saw me walk in.

“That's why we invited you here.” He said, passing a glass over to Dima.

Dima smiled, accepting the glass filled with wine. “It's nothing. I'm guessing you already have a lead you want me to follow.”

“Right.” He said, leaning forward. “The sea hasn't been really peaceful for the past few days. So everyone believes the goods may have been lost in the sea.” He revealed, and I raised a brow.

“Of course. We've sent men to search but they are still yet to find anything. However,” Jordan paused, taking a glance at me.

“What is suspicious is the fact that rumours are starting to spread that the goods are illicit goods making it hard to try to find them.”
