Chapter Ninety One

*Domenico*

He was thrown to the side with the second boom, and everything was in chaos. His hearing fades in and out as he tries to recover from the massive pain of hitting the floor with him still tied to the chair. The explosion was so close that it literally rocked the crate to its side. So what was the side was now the floor to him.

He hears coughing and moaning from the man who was just about to cut off whatever limbs that was on his body and Dario as far as he could see was nowhere around. The beefy guy slowly gets back up, nearly falling over himself from the dizziness of being thrown the way they had been.

He doesn’t even bother to check on Domenico as he rushes out the door as fast as his equilibrium would allow. The room was spinning, and Dom felt like throwing up. His arm was in so much pain since his hands were tied behind the chair, thus with him landing right on it when he got thrown.

It may even be broken.

Heat blasted on his skin as the sounds of fire blew around him. Yells and screams were in the distance outside making him wonder what was going on and who had set bombs on the place where not even Dario was aware. He was afraid to put too much hope that it was Enzo. But whoever had done it he was thankful.

However, it didn’t help his situation all that much.

He was still stuck and didn’t have a way to free himself. Not to mention that he was so bruised and in pain that it was hard to even move, not even to try and free himself. Lying there his vision starts to go in and out, making his eyesight blurry. A figure walks through the lopsided doorway, but he couldn’t make them out.

They just keep walking closer, not saying a word and didn’t seem bothered about what was going on outside. Just when he thinks he’ll be able to see the man’s face his world goes dark.

He felt his body swaying gently back and forth lying on something soft and warm. His body ached and throbbed from all the pain that had been inflicted for the past however long he’s been tied to that chair. Speaking of which his hands and feet were no longer bound to anything. In fact, he felt more comfortable than he has been for days.

Slowly opening the one eye that wasn’t as damaged as the other, his vision was still a bit blurry. But it wasn’t as bad as before. He was in a dark space, but lights kept flashing by. The sounds of engines perked up his ears as he listened carefully. Looking out a window he realizes instantly that he was in a moving car.

He slightly moves, hissing at the stab of pain that shot through his back. Thick comforters wrapped around his body.

“You’re awake.”

His body stiffens then immediately relaxes as he recognizes the voice just behind him. Staring up at the car ceiling he slowly takes in that all the seats of the SUV were pushed down to accommodate a bed setting of some sort.

“How…did you find me?” His voice sounded and felt like sandpaper.

“Once I figured out the location, that was too easy to find, was a fake I immediately started searching through other channels. It took some time, but I was able to pinpoint where you were. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to inform Enzo in time however.”

His heart races at hearing his cousin’s name. “Enzo? He’s still alive?” He asks hopefully.

He hears Charlie shift uncomfortably in the driver seat, hesitant on answering him. Dom’s one eyebrow, that wasn’t swollen from a cut as the other side was, furrows deeply.

“What? What is it?” He demanded that holds no heat since his throat felt on fire.

“I sort of made a mistake in judgement.” Charlie gritted out.

He didn’t understand.

“When I found out that Enzo was in the wrong place and was in fact falling for a trap I panicked. I didn’t know what else to do to help him get out of it before they blew his brains out.”

“What did you do?”

“I, uh, found a way to take control of a cargo ship that wasn’t being manned and, uh, made the thing crash right into the dock.”

If he was able to show the expression of shock he would have. “You didn’t.” He was having a hard time believing that Charlie was that good at what he does.

“I did. And not having eyes on where it was colliding it smashed right in front of Enzo and his captors. But funny thing that I soon found out quickly enough was the fact that Gabriela was there at the dock too.”

“Gabby? But Dario told me he held her prisoner in his mansion. Speaking of, what the hell happened to Moretti?” He couldn’t help growling.

“Let’s worry about Moretti later. Right now I’m more focused on you and getting to Enzo. I’m not sure how she got out, but I was able to get one of the men to pick them up. Enzo’s badly hurt, and I need to get our doctor out there to meet them.”

“How bad is it?” He whispers, afraid of the answer.

“From what I was told, he’s suffering from a head injury. Gabriela tells me he hasn’t woken up.”

Domenico closes his one good eye, his chest feeling tight at the thought that his cousin could very well die regardless. All because of Dario Moretti. Snapping his eye open a new conviction flows through him like lava.

“I’m going to kill him. Even if I have to do it dirty. Dario Moretti is going to die one horrible, excruciating death. I’ll make sure of it.” He grounds out.

Charlie tightens his hands on the wheel, staring out on the road with thin lips. “And I’ll be right there with you as he does.”
